Paying tribute to the original British styled IPA along with celebrating newer American flavors, Bold City's IPA is a familiar taste with some upgrades.
Mad Manatee has nothing to be upset about. It's a pretty pour of amber and copper with a mildly hoppy haze. As its froth rises to the rim, the scent of caramel, toast, citrus, grasses and spruce swoon the nose ahead of in palate introduction of caramel, honey, biscuit and bread crust.
As the sweetness fades on the middle palate, the hops take the lead in true American IPA form. Bold citrus tones of pink grapefruit and orange foreshadow an upcoming taste of apricot and light mango in a nearly marmalade form. Trending bitter though, the taste turns to a familiar piney bitterness with fresh cut grass, spruce and herb.
Medium bodied, mostly crisp and mostly clean, the ale trends bitter and dry heading into a long aftertaste of peppery pine, citrus peel and gin spice.

I am at The Bold City Brewery in Downtown Jacksonville Florida.
I'm drinking a Mad Manatee IPA.
Appears a very light Amber with a nice foamy head that dropped quickly and some nice lacing.
Smells lightly bready, citrusy, lightly piney.
Taste follows the nose, every thing is is light and balanced, nothing really stands out one way or the other.
Mouth feel is medium light for the style.
Overall, I have drank this particular beer many times while in Jacksonville Florida, and this is my first review.
Definitely sessionable, I'll probably drink this again but, Bold City definitely has some other beers that I will probably try instead.

A mediocre attempt at imitating CCB Jai Alai. Will do in a pinch. Best thing about this beer is the can/bottle artwork. I would buy again over any MolsonCoors/InBev/GrupoModelo/Heineken product but not because it’s that good. Goose Island IPA is better than this middling brew.

Can't tell canning date, something in 2019
Pours a decent foamy pillowy head with good retention, soapy lacing, hazy orange tan color
Nose some citrus and mild stone fruit, candied citrus marmalade and hint of pine resin, sweet malt almost candy like
Taste quite bitter, medium high bitterness out front, a sweet malt to balance with candy malt notes that hint at alcohol to follow but it never comes, hops start with iced herbal tea, little resin, some citrus rind, candied stone fruit and orange marmalade, finishing medium sweet little dry, sticky, big bitterness lingering
Mouth is med bod, good fluffy full carb
Overall eh, somewhat like old school English ipa with some American hops, ok balance but malts are a little meh sweet like and hops are ok but nothing special. It's not a bad beer just doesn't do anything to give it a profile and any intangibles

L: cloudy copper, thin head, good lacing
S: very light nose, just a touch of citrus and biscuit
T: some malt comes through with citrus and a bit of spice from the hops
F: clean, bitter finish, but a bit of the malt sweetness lingers
O: A perfectly fine ipa. Nothing jumps out as particularly special or problematic
