A mild brown ale named after Duke, the owner's late, beloved boxer. This local favorite has hints of chocolate and caramel with a smooth nutty finish. A well-balanced, flavorful brown ale that's perfect for any time of year.

A pretty tame brown, not enough for me. Thin, modest on the brown flavor.

Pours brown with a thin white head that fades quickly. Aroma is malty and mild caramel. Taste follows with malty notes and a bit of biscuit. Feel is good, rich mouthfeel. Overall it's a very nice brown ale.

A- dark brown at the top and then lighter as it goes down to bottom. more light through the top. 2 finger frothy head with fat lacing on pint.
S-malts and caramel and bread
M- hints of chocolate, malts dominate and salty
F- creamy and chewy but the malts take away from the flavors.
O- meh...worth a try but nah not again. not enough complement of flavors

This brown ale hits the sweet spot for me with its flavors of caramel, roasted nuts, and dark chocolate. As a whiskey drinker first and foremost this is the flavor profile I prefer. IPA's tene to be too fruit forward for my tastes. If you are looking for a fruit bomb keep scrolling, but if it's a classic brown ale you seek, this one is most certain to please.

I always pick up some of these on holidays when I'm in Florida for those that don't like IPAs and Porter's.
Appears dark amber with a nice foamy head that lasted.
Smells malty, bready.
Taste follows the nose.
Mouth feel is medium for the style.
I will definitely pick up another sixer for the next holiday party, not so much for me, but for the middle craft beer drinkers. Give me IPAs and Porters!

From can into Teku glass. The color is mild amber with a consistent head of foam loaded with tiny bubbles with very little outliers. The carbonation sticks throughout the glass. The smell is generally muted but has a nice grainy malt nose mixed in with toasty pizza dough, raspberries, light caramel, light chocolate and dings of hops and metallic notes behind these stronger notes. It is not wildly complex but it is nice to see some of these notes shine through. Despite the simplicity, it does taste really good. The toasty pizza dough notes stand out completely on the taste and for a brown ale, the caramels and chocolates are subdued. It drinks like a 5% abv brown ale but is still very enjoyable to drink across a few hours. It is a thin mouthfeel with a short finish but even though it does not help with the beer's complexity it does enhance the drinkability. Perfect to have a 6 pack for watching a Jaguars game in November and December (and hopefully January).

Poured from can, decent head that doesn't last long. Good amber color and a sweet, malty nose. Roasted flavor notes with slight tinge of hop bite (slight), Lingers a bit on the back of the tongue, not terribly complex but easy to drink. A decent offering.

Look: Clear, dark amber. Half a finger of off-white head with average retention.
Smell: Spicy and sweet malt with a slight chocolate note. Mild toastiness.
Taste: Roasted malt with little to no bitterness. Mild milk chocolate.
Mouthfeel: Average body, highly carbonated.
Overall: A nice, plain brown.

Look: Look is brown with amber hue when held to light. It has about a half of a finger of a beige, lacy head that sticks around for a minute.
Smell: The smell is of dark chocolate, slightly roasted malt character, malty, with a little hop presence in the back ground. The malt character is very nice!
Taste: The taste gives me caramel up front that fades into chocolate after swallowing— and the after taste after a few seconds turns into nuttiness. It tastes almost like almonds on the exhale of your next breathe. It’s really great but light. The hop presence is perfect for this beer, it’s not overpowering but the bitterness is evident. The taste is very well balanced between sweet and bitter.
Feel: The feel is surprisingly light! Off of mouthfeel alone, I would say this was a pale ale. This would be nice on both a crisp winter’s morning, or in the summer afternoon. I could easily drink multiple of these in a sitting.
Overall: This was a really good beer that I would buy again. The taste was nice, it is very sessionable and something that I could drink many of, it is also appropriate for anytime of the year. I recommend it for someone trying to get into brown ales. Thumbs up, Bold City Brewing.
Also, I really like the art-work and reading material on the can (not that that skewed my score)
