Always one of my favorites from Bold City, when you're in the mood for cat piss Chinook hops. They did this from early on, before it became overly trendy to emphasize single hop varietals, and if one can really carry an IPA it's got to be the Chinook. Divisive, yet alluring, the odd astringency of this hop melds nicely with their house texture (kind of "scummy" for lack of a better term) and gives the beer an unmistakable dose of character. Who cares what it looks like--this is worth trying.

A- medium gold. White head with moderate retention. Somewhat hazy.
S- moderate piny hops with a sweet malt backbone
T- same as the smell
M- high carbonation. Medium high bitterness.
O- well done single hop IPA. I enjoy the ability to know what a single hop variety tastes like.

A: single finger off white head. Dark amber with golden hues and murky. Lots of lacing.
S:Aroma is light. Fruit is there, both citrus and dark fruit. Some hops.
T: nice amount of chinook hops with light smokey flavor, smooth bitter flavor and very earthy.
M: medium body and moderate carbonation. A subtly sweet finish.
Overall a nice chinook hop IPA. About as earthy as they come. One of their better brews.

Poured on-tap at the Bold City Brewery, the beer was served up in a pint glass. There is a slight ruby tint to the gold coloring, with a clingy, filmy, white head. The nose is a sweet malt and light hopped balance, with some citrus tones throughout. Slightly sour characteristics with peppery overtones make up the backbone of the flavors, with a dark, dry green blast of flavor throughout. Light and dry bodied, with a dry and spicy aftertaste. There is a lingering bittersweet (hops and citrus) flavor that lingers through the finish, that is slightly drying and bitter.

On-tap at Hunaphu. This was probably my least favorite beer of the day, shows how strong of a day it was... Pour a hazy amber with some copper. Off white head, ok retention and lacing... The aroma is a little blah, light orange peel on the front, then chemical pine. Hoping this improves... The taste is pretty dead on the front then dusky floral hops. Doesn't taste bad, just boring... I wouldn't have this again.

A- murky/hazy amber with moderate lacing.
S- Earthy Pine with a hint of medicine. It's a medicine that reminds me of the smell bandaids.
T- It is truly a garden blooming in my mouth. Definitely hoppy with a floral spread of a "dandelion nettle blend". I wouldn't call it easy by any stretch. The earthy garden in my moth distracts me from the hops that want to bloom on my tongue. Overall, would definitely drink again, most likely to buy on a warm summer day when I'm feeling a bit romantic.
M- I'm torn between smooth, fresh and somewhat harsh depending on the weather. It is fabulous on a spring day, but avoid on a cold winter's night.
D- This is a very drinkable IPA if you love some chinook hops. It isn't the best IPA and isn't the worst by far. For 3.50$ a pint it is definitely worth the effort and the workout the tastebuds must endure.

Chinook Ipa. Single hopped Ipa with Chinook hops.
A- On-tap poured a medium dark amber with light quarter inch head that falls to a ring around the glass. Nothing special very light lacing.
S- Mild scents of spring flowers and light pollen like smells are faint but followed by hints of carmel malts.
T-M- Taste is bland and very light but with a light but lingering floral flavor of grass and honeysuckle. Sweet carmel malts are dominate in the backbone. Mouthfeel is light to moderate and has a light lasting bite.
D- Drinkable but for me one glass was good enough.
