On tap at the brewery. This is my favorite of the Bold City beers I've tasted so far. However, I've missed out on many of the one-offs. Aroma of the first coffee stout "B Coffee Stout" from Bold City has some coffee, but it's not overly strong. I'm not sure what the alcohol content is, but it drinks like it's no more than 6% and wouldn't surprise me if it was less. Mouthfeel has a bit of "that Guinness-factor", in that it looks like it will be thicker than it actually is. Let's be fair, a somewhat thin body is completely on-point for a standard stout. Additionally, coffee isn't going to add any thickness to the mouthfeel. The coffee flavor of this brew is mixed in there, but it doesn't dominate. If you're looking for a clean, sessionable stout, with good dark-malt characteristics and a medium-ish, but balanced coffee flavor, you won't go wrong with this brew. In fact, I'd be very happy to see this one as a regular BC brew. I've heard that Bold City has plans to make other coffee stouts. As for me, I hope that one of the upcoming coffee stouts will have a thicker-body (imperial-ish?) with more chocolate character and a substantially stronger coffee flavor. No matter what the future coffee stouts might be, this current coffee stout is a quality brew and a welcome addition to the Bold City lineup. Hey BC, can we have some sort of (rotating?) coffee stout on tap at the brewery from now on?

One of the best from Bold City. I went to try this at a beer tasting and I thought it was a solid offering but it's being sold for nearly $10 at a local grocery store. Solid stout but not for that price with it being local and all.

appearance: deep dark black, pure ebony, loaded head and creamy froth.

smell: no hops, and slight chocolate aromas

taste: rich and heavy coffee and slight chocolate roasted flavors but had a smooth rich taste, sweet aftertaste and pleasant

mouthfeel: thick, creamy, good carbonation and very tasty

drinkability: One Loved and will drink again for the right price

A: Pours a nice dark brownish black. Small mocha head no lace.

S: Nice subtle mix of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt.

T: Chocolate laden coffee, hints of brown sugar and a tinge of sour.

M: On the lighter side of medium.

D: Okay, could have done without the sourness.

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body with a wispy, scant, off-white head.

Smell: Modestly malty nose with only a mild, transient earthy cocoa-ish character to pair up with the scent of used coffee grinds.

Taste: Humble brown malts with a vague taste of lightly sweet cocoa powder. Certainly a stand out coffee flavor, not really in terms or quality or richness of flavor, but because the malts aren't there to properly support it. Roasty bitterness. Minor hint of tartness on the tail end. Roasty, lightly astringent finish. Quite the odd duck.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: Pass. Severely lacking in the malt and body department for a stout, to say nothing of a coffee-infused stout, which leaves me hoping this wasn't the final goal or intention of the brewery.
