Cellared bottle. Very dark opaque brown body with a lighter brown head. In the taste the rye and darker oak from the barrel bring out the yeast, prune, cherry skins and earth more compared to the original. Smell has more of a smoky complexion to the leather, otherwise it is very similar to adam, but does smell hotter than it actually is. Feel is more earthy and dark in complexion, languid yet artful like others in the series, though to a lesser degree.

2015 vintage, 12 oz bottle. Pours flat and murky, with only the faintest hint of carbonation. Bittersweet baker's chocolate, rye spice and pepper, vinous tannins, lemon, caramel, and old leather. Having had a standard Adam recently as well, the rye barrel definitely stands out, but the overall impression and character of the beer is not that different.

2015, seems like this might be the only vintage? I opened a 2015 Adam From the Wood recently which was quite good, but I believe this rye version has held up better.
Dark fruits, caramel, whiskey, light smokey leather, Belgian chocolate, and hints of spice, pepper and rye. Soooo much more going on here beyond my ability to describe. All elements are mellow and well Incorporated. The carbonation is basically nil and I don't mind. A unique treat.

2015 bottle consumed in March, 2021. Zero carbonation (as always). Pours a thick dark brown - almost black. The spicy rye is immediately evident on the nose. Pepper, leather, oak, black licorice, molasses, moist soil, and almost a touch of jalapeno. The taste is next level. So intense and complex! Black licorice and molasses are immediately dominant. Spice is all over the place, but especially in the finish. Making an appearance is very dark chocolate, leather, pepper spice, dirt, toffee, ripe figs, maybe a hit of cherries, raisins, and bread. Maybe a hint of hoppiness, but it's minimal. I get a slight pepper heat (jalapeno) on the tail end of this one, and it's really nice. I have no idea where it comes from! The mouthfeel is all-encompassing. Creamy and mouth-coating. This is just an awesome beer.

Bottle share from Toby. Well deserving of its scores, all around top marks for its smoothness, welcoming aroma and enveloping taste. This is one to seek out and savor. Wish it came in bigger bottles...

Little fizzy tan head. Caramel brown color.
Kind of roasty and smokey. Cherries, plums, rainins, molasses, and caramel. Some chocolate. The barrel flavors are kind of light. Oaky. Rye is light.
Low carbonation. Full bodied.
Solid beer, but it seems young and there could be more rye barrels.

12oz bottle, from 2015. Served in a snifter glass.
Pours a dark mahogany brown body, identical to its bourbon counterpart. Minimal white head, no retention or lacing. Smells of oak, tobacco, char, ash, dark chocolate, caramel. A bit more ashy and rye-forward than the bourbon version. Flavour is similarly complex, with dark chocolate, caramel, touch of vanilla, heavy oak, a lot of char and ashy flavours. The ashy quotient is a bit of a turnoff for me, but the beer is otherwise nice and complex, with some sweet booziness on the backend. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, lower carbonation but still fairly carbonated, rye and booze on the backend. It's a good and complex beverage with lower carbonation than ideal, though certainly not still. Good complexity but the ashy character of the base beer and the rye just didn't do it for me.

Murky brown color with no head. Aroma is woody with dark fruits and slightly peated whiskey. Taste is slightly sweet with dried figs, caramel, whiskey and some slightly astringent woody tannins. Body is heavy and flat. Quite balanced overall. Tasty but it lacks a bit of carbonation to make it more drinkable.
