Pours out a gorgeous RIS black color capped with a Belgian Quad head of foam. Looks like the new style of Belgian Imperial Stout (Black Albert).
Looks absoulutely drinkable.
Smells of deep roasted malts, chocolates, coffee notes, vanilla, oaky notes, yeasts(very unlike any stout, more Belgian-like). Fermented grains,Concord grapes, touch of sour Farmhouse aromas. Truly a complex sweet-sour-complex nosefull of amazing transgressional brew.
Huge mouthfull of chocolate malty, piquant tartness greet the palate. On a stretch, think of Ommegang Three Philosophers balance of Sweet-Tartness. Sweet cocoas initially greet the palate, followed by a whirlwind of roasted malts, caramel-vanillas, suddenly cut by a cherry-grape tartness, finished with a long warming rum-like finish. This is a truly great beer experience.
Mouthfeel is filling, delicious, palate-complexity-to-the-point of being debateable.
I could drink this for hours and pick out so many nuances that I could write about it pages on end, but I am satisfied with this one great experience. Will seek it out again

Poured into a teku, dark brown and murky, with no head. Smell up front is smoke, a dark fruits, raisins, figs a hint of cherry skin. Getting a lot of smoke in the taste. It's a subdued smoke, not like a rauch or anything, but it's definitely there. Was not expecting it and it overshadows some of the other flavors. No carb issue here. As it warms, some of the dark fruit, caramel, burnt sugar flavor is coming out. Super complex. This might have gone over my head. Worth a try for sure. I'll try some with some age on it, see how that compares.
