A-Hair is located just across the bridge from downtown in a slightly industrial (but hip-ish) area of Portland. The tasting room has the light-industrial feel common to many breweries with tall ceilings, lots of windows, a decent sized bar with seating for close to 20, a dozen big tables, and an exposed kitchen. It is a bit sparten, and it was very quiet around 6:45 pm on a Tuesday night, but it fits with the neighborhood and its comfortable.

Q-This was my first experience with Hair beers and I was mostly impressed. I tried their flagship beers, as well as one of their lesser-known beers and all were tasty. Fred, in particular, earns the reputation is has for a delicious big-ass beer.

Ser-My server was friendly, prompt, knowledgable about the beers she was pouring, and took care to pour the beer correctly. She even gave me a paper towel to wipe the rain off (only an idiot walks around Portland without an umbrella....).

Sel-The tap selection is pretty small (seven beers when I visited) and limited to Hair beers. They had growler fills and a few bottle selections to take away, again all Hair beers. A few more special/one-off beers on tap would have been nice. The vintage bottle list was pretty good sized.

F-The food is cheap and isn't trying to pretend that this place is for fine dining. I had a turkey sandwich with smoked mozzarella, and although the turkey was good, the rest of the dish was a little plain. While I sort of enjoyed the simplicity of my chips and sandwich, it was pretty damn simple.

V-This place has a neighborhood feel and prices to match. Good value for beer and food. Some of the vintage bottles could get pricy but the taps were cheap.

O-A nice, laid-back vibe with great beer and simple food. What is not to like?

Service was average and not exceptionally friendly. Food (granted I only visited once) was poor. But the beer. Oh, the beer. One of my favorite breweries.

I go here regularly because there are few other places where the quality of the beer, food and service are all world class. Atmosphere is very cool and unique.

Beer: The regular taps are great, always 1 barrel aged beer available for a $9 glass. Adam, Fred are always available and they're always putting new experimental stuff on tap as well. The vintage menu is where it's really at! 2013 Matt is the best $18 you can spend in Portland on beer. 2002 Fred is amazing as well. If you're feeling very adventurous you can drop $50 on a 1994 Adam.

Food: Beef brisket. It's unreal and it will go great with a dark beer like Adam. The pastrami sandwich is another favorite.

Service: I've heard complaints from others on the service here but I tend to get the same couple servers who recognize my face and are incredibly friendly.
