A-Hair is located just across the bridge from downtown in a slightly industrial (but hip-ish) area of Portland. The tasting room has the light-industrial feel common to many breweries with tall ceilings, lots of windows, a decent sized bar with seating for close to 20, a dozen big tables, and an exposed kitchen. It is a bit sparten, and it was very quiet around 6:45 pm on a Tuesday night, but it fits with the neighborhood and its comfortable.

Q-This was my first experience with Hair beers and I was mostly impressed. I tried their flagship beers, as well as one of their lesser-known beers and all were tasty. Fred, in particular, earns the reputation is has for a delicious big-ass beer.

Ser-My server was friendly, prompt, knowledgable about the beers she was pouring, and took care to pour the beer correctly. She even gave me a paper towel to wipe the rain off (only an idiot walks around Portland without an umbrella....).

Sel-The tap selection is pretty small (seven beers when I visited) and limited to Hair beers. They had growler fills and a few bottle selections to take away, again all Hair beers. A few more special/one-off beers on tap would have been nice. The vintage bottle list was pretty good sized.

F-The food is cheap and isn't trying to pretend that this place is for fine dining. I had a turkey sandwich with smoked mozzarella, and although the turkey was good, the rest of the dish was a little plain. While I sort of enjoyed the simplicity of my chips and sandwich, it was pretty damn simple.

V-This place has a neighborhood feel and prices to match. Good value for beer and food. Some of the vintage bottles could get pricy but the taps were cheap.

O-A nice, laid-back vibe with great beer and simple food. What is not to like? (1,766 characters)

This place was everything I hoped it would be. Cool atmosphere, good service and great beer. My only minor complaint would be that a couple more options on tap would have been good, but HOTD isn't known for having a huge lineup of beer. Was very happy to find a barrel aged Adam variant. A MUST visit in PDX. (314 characters)

Good vibe, seems like any typical Portland microbrewery. Hipster crowd, old crowd, Rough crowd and everybody else. I tried Adam and White Peach Adam. Adam is a fantastic beer, I won't go into detail. White Peach Adam is on a whole different level of awesome! It's rediculous, the two bar tenders didn't seem very friendly. They should be aittle more engaging and crack a smile every now and then. I didn't try the food, but everyone around me swore by it. I'll be back. (470 characters)

We were in town for the Oregon Brewer's Festival, this was a must-stop on our list of breweries to hit - and they certainly didn't disappoint. My first time having Fred, Adam, Adam of the Wood - etc. A massive selection of brews to pick from including rarities of varying vintages. The food kicks ass too. The bartender was quick and helpful. Absolute blast. Wish this NC boy lived closer. (389 characters)

I visited Hair of the Dog yesterday while in town for the waterfront blues festival. I like the neat wood-meets-factory space and the thick central bar. Their selection is interesting, with only 7 taps plus a guest but an excellent selection of bottles, mostly cellared versions of their own big beers. Someday I would like to return when I'm with a group so that we can split and sample some of these (they are pricy -- hard for me to justify drinking a $30 rare beer by myself).

I had the maibock, which was quite refreshing on this very hot weekend. I also had the mac 'n' cheese, which was a bit over-salted but in general very good. (644 characters)
