A gift from a freind of mine who hails from Kosovo, pours a medium clear golden with a thinner white head on top.Pretty highly carbonated, aroas are quite sweet and very fruity wich suprised me quite a bit but its pleasant.A little thin in body not quite watery but thin, nothing really stands out flavor wise except for a fruity finish it just seems to go down with not much flavor till a burst of fruit hits in the finish and aftertaste.Well Iam glad I got a chance to try this Croatian brew that goes down easly but with no frills.

Served up at the Beachwood Ballroom in Cleveland, OH. Pale gold with a white head that disappears right away. Aroma is faintly skunky, containing noble hops. Grainy with some citrus. Flavor is pretty on par with your typical Euro lager, pale, dull, and light. This one is perhaps a touch hoppier then the average. Light, crisp, and fairly clean body. Drinkable but not exciting. Still, this is from Croatia, ancestral home of one of my great grandfathers and current home to my ex-commissar cousin so this beer gets a bonus for that.

Poured a light golden color with a perfectly white head that settled into a thin lace. It did have a touch of skunk at first, but after letting set for a minute it faded and the beer had no real aroma. Maybe it was just the bottle I had, but the beer felt very flat in my mouth. It was also difficult to decern specific flavors in this beer, it just seemed very sweet. The only way I can describe it is a sweeter tasting Budweiser. I was not impressed at all.

Karlovacko is an average European Lager. Nothing exceptional to report, nothing awful either.

Pours a bright golden color with a large, fizzy head that dissipates quickly. Slight hop aroma. Smooth mouth-feel, a bit over-carbonated, with clean malt and slightly predominant hops.

A: This beer poured an average golden color. , appeared to have quite a bit of carbonation as I poured at a straight pour which produced about an inch and a half worth of head, which was fairly sustainable.

S: Little to no aroma for this product.

T: Not impressed what-so-ever. The after taste left a feeling of metal in my mouth and I constantly found myself asking when this beer would be over, so I could move on to the next.

M: Mouthfeel was generally plesant not overly full-bodied but slightlly bitter.

D: Not my favorite, but I've had worse.

Overall, I'd rate this about a 1.9 despite my above response.

Has a subtle, malty aroma that is full of toasted grain notes, with a slight hint of floral hops.

On the tongue, there's a sudden explosion of fruity flavors that is very reminiscent of a lightly-flavored carbonated water, such as Clearly Canadian or Crystal Geyser. Don't let that comparison turn you off, because it's actually a good thing here, bringing lovely sparkly apricot, apple, grape and pear notes to the mix. These fruit flavors lie just over a bed of Grape Nuts cereal-like toasted grains (or perhaps biscuit-like grains, if you prefer). The fruit flavors last a surprisingly long time into the mouthful, only slowly subsiding near the end to reveal a light layer of hops that adds a slight bitterness and spiciness to the waning tide. The aftertaste was virtually nonexistent for me; only a slight flavorless hoppy buzz.

Overall, this is a great brew, full of unexpected flavors and charm. If this is the fare that Croatia has to offer, then this is one reviewer who will be making a point to swing by the next time he goes across the pond.

I've tried this brew several times over the last 10 years and is has been very consistent.

The pour leads to a big head that dissapates fairly quickly with little lace. The color is a pale gold. (I'm a bit color blind to it is probably yellow)

The nose is subdued and does add or detract from the beer.

The mouth is quite full for a pilsner particularly with the carbonation stirring things up.

The finish is what I like about the beer. It is on the dry side but leaves a slighty malty finish.

Had on tap in half litre glasses in several locations in Slovenia and Croatia while touring, at fair price of around €2.50 in most places.

Bright gold colour and crystal clear, fair head to start but dissipated quickly. Aroma was laid back, grassy and dry as in most European lager/pilsner styles, though not as strong as some.

Very clean crisp taste, slightly more malts at first, then hint of bitterness from hops comes through at the end, though no great lingering aftertaste. Did not have that "metallic" aftertaste that some mass produced beers suffer from. Very refreshing and easy to drink, I enjoyed this - especially on a hot sunny day, though nothing outstanding, very pleasant in the 'on tap' form I had and recommended.

500ml green bottle poured into a Pilsener.

A: Pale straw color with a mediocre head at initial pour that fades to just surface scum. Light carbonation action the entire session from the bottom of the glass.

S: Light on the nose with a subtle mix of grains, grassy hops, a hint of sourness, and a scant service of sweet malt.

T/M: Perfect Pilsener body with a clean crisp finish. A mild dose of peppery hops on the front of the palate with some doughy malt in the back followed by some hop bitterness.

D: Lacking in head retention, this beer delivers every else. Not a bad brew and within all style guidelines.

I've been interested in trying beers from as many different areas as I can. This was my first Croatian and I just found my notes. They're pretty recent anyway.

This brew is a pale yellowish golden color. The head poured to about three fingers and faded to a foam, though not as quickly as I was afraid it might, leaving a little lacing behind.
Aroma is predominantly grains with a fair balance of sweet malt and light hops. There's an initial funk on the nose that fortunately doesn't last.
A decent balance of hops and malt on the palate supports the stronger grains flavor. There's no funk in the flavor.
This wasn't as thin as I was afraid it might be. Body is light without being watery. It's also not as crisp as I thought it might be either.
This is worth trying and a pretty good offering.

Croatians are pretty dang awesome at most things. So I figured I'd try their brew.

Pours a thin white head, dissipating quickly. Beer has a classic light yellowish pilsner hue and excellent clarity.

Smell is classic Czech pilsner, Saaz hops, flowery, slightly sweet, subdued, no harshness whatsoever.

Tastes light, slight bite in the mouth with an underlying smooth and slightly sweet taste of malt. This seems even lighter on hops than other Czech style brews from Europe, though.

Moutfeel is refreshing, slightly too light even for my taste (and I love delicate pilsners), but this could be nectar from heaven on a hot summer day.

Summary: nice beer, closely tracks Urquell and the other Czech pilsners but slightly lighter and less flavorful. Not a bad beer but not the cream of the class.

Not bad, drinkable on a hot summer afternoon. Mine said draught. Perhaps I should list it as a new beer as the bottle is different. Unoffensive though not creamy. Mild bitterness.. Citrus floral, there's hops in there. Golden yellow with nice white foam. A bit sweet, and fruity. Neutral, fine with lunch. I''ve had worse pils

A - Clear and vibrant, this brew looks like liquid gold in the glass. The head is brief and homely, but some crusty-salty lace sticks to the glass and swirling brings up a respectable finger of foam, but only for a few seconds. The tragedy of a head is a shame, because the color is pretty.

S - Saltine crackers and table salt. This is neither hoppy or malty, but focused on the aroma of straight up salt. Honestly, it's a very refreshing nose, but it's lacking in complexity.

T - Again, very salty and crackery. Saltine crackers are there in abundance, but not a whole lot else. Some bitter salad-greens hops are there with more force than in the nose, and I can also appreciate some floral marigold and dandelion notes upon retro-olfaction.

M - Light bodied and crisply carbonated, with a huge margarita-salt freshness on the palate. Would be a nice palate cleansing beer to have with something spicy.

D - A super-session beer for the great spring weather! I could totally see dropping a few of these down the gullet at a backyard summer BBQ...I'll bet it's great with brats since it would compliment the greasy and heavy fatty flavors with a crisp freshness.

Appearance: Pale yellow. Pretty standard. Carbonation is not amazing, but decent enough. A nice layer of foam that fizzles to a nice half finger layer that remainds throughout.

Smell: Not crazy about the smell, but it's ok. Wet hay with a hint of hops in the end. A pungent vinegar-like fermented smell, which is not necessarily too bad of a thing since it's not everwhelming. That's about it.

Taste/Mouthfeel: A lot less dry than something like Pilsner Urquell initially. A fair amount of cooked grain, almost corn-like. Some sour hops are the other main flavor component. Once of the flavors fizzle, there's a nice dryness in the finish that's definitely not too soda-like. Very clean.

Drinkability: All in all, not a terrible choice. It's nice to see some other European perspectives of this style.

Overall: Reminds me a bit of Tyskie Gronie with Bud Light's dryness and Golden Pheasant's sweetness.

16.9 oz. brown bottle. It pours a crystal-clear, bright yellow-gold body with a foamy bright-white head that holds OK before dropping to a thin collar that leaves some thin lace. Standard sized bubbles rise steadily towards the surface. The nose expresses a clean and sweetly grainy maltiness that's backed by mild floral and spicy hops. The body is distinctly medium with a crisp carbonation. The flavor mirrors the aroma with a grainy maltiness that's lightly sweet but well infused with gentle floral and spicy hop flavor; and backed by a firm bitterness. Overall, a pretty average European lager (although it's clean and un-skunked!).

Picked up a 500ml bottle for about $2 at the Best Yet grocery in Astoria. After the initial skunk aroma wafts away (thanks green bottle), I'm left a with a plan, slightly sweet lager with a vague hint of herbal hops and toasted barley. Sure it's bland, but there's nothing offensive here. Probably a decent beer when fresh.

A thin head on a clear, golden body.
The aroma is a good grain scent with a bit of lemon.
The taste is a sweet/bitter lemon with a long honey finish. Really nice.
The texture is crisp and clean with moderate carbonation and medium body.
Aside from not having any head, this is a great beer. The taste was an almost perfect balance of bitter and sweet.
