Half-liter bottle,

A: Pours yellow with a full, soapy white head, solid retention, some lace.

S: Smells of noble hops, grass, typical Euro lager bottle smell.

T: Malt is bready, light notes of pastry bread. Hops flavour is noble, a green flavour, grass and hay. Good balance.

M: Smooth, light-bodied, crisp, refreshing as a good pils should be.

D: A real nice suprise on the cheap out of Croatia. Went real nicely after a hour of shooting hoops.

Fairly nice looking clear yellowy pour with a 1 finger white head that doesn't last too long. Faint scent of honey in the nose. That honey scent is a much stronger honey flavor on the tongue. It might be a bit too sweet for some, but I liked it just fine. Not a huge mouthfeel though. Pretty darn drinkable if you like honey, which I do. This would be a great dessert after a lunch of fish and chips by the beach on a sunny day.

Poured from an 11.15 oz bottle. Very pale yellow, almost clear. Lots of carbonation bubbles, but very small head that settles quickly.

Very faint hop aroma, smells of straw or fresh grass, much like a pilsner should.

Can taste the hops a little bit more than the smell would indicate, but not much. Feels slightly fizzy in the mouth, but otherwise very smooth. Doesnt leave it particularly dry.

As far as drinkability is concerned, this is up there in score simply because it very easy to drink. I doubt that anyone would be offended by the taste/feel of this beer unless they were expecting something more. A good example of the classic pilsner style. Would definitely not pass up a bottle of this were I offered one.

This was poured from the bottle into a pilsner flute.

A - crystal clear golden straw color with a thick head that is well retained

S - gentle malt with noticeable, but not overwhelming noble hops

T - balanced malt and hop flavor, slightly favoring the malt but not by much; overall somewhat subdued though compared to other Czech-style pilsners; surprisingly clean with concern to yeast flavors

M - medium to light body, moderate carbonation

D - This is a decent enough example of a Czech style pilsner, but really falls more into a 'macro-Euro lager' category. The hops aren't as 'bright' as perhaps I would like and this might be a function of age. However, there is no oxidation noted if it is well aged which is a credit to the brewers. This is probably really good fresher and closer to the source.

Has a subtle, malty aroma that is full of toasted grain notes, with a slight hint of floral hops.

On the tongue, there's a sudden explosion of fruity flavors that is very reminiscent of a lightly-flavored carbonated water, such as Clearly Canadian or Crystal Geyser. Don't let that comparison turn you off, because it's actually a good thing here, bringing lovely sparkly apricot, apple, grape and pear notes to the mix. These fruit flavors lie just over a bed of Grape Nuts cereal-like toasted grains (or perhaps biscuit-like grains, if you prefer). The fruit flavors last a surprisingly long time into the mouthful, only slowly subsiding near the end to reveal a light layer of hops that adds a slight bitterness and spiciness to the waning tide. The aftertaste was virtually nonexistent for me; only a slight flavorless hoppy buzz.

Overall, this is a great brew, full of unexpected flavors and charm. If this is the fare that Croatia has to offer, then this is one reviewer who will be making a point to swing by the next time he goes across the pond.

I had this one in Croatia after a day at the beach and it hit the spot for that moment. Just enough flavor to make it refreshing on a hot august day. There were mild hops and malt. The glass was laced nicely at the end and the color was a beautiful golden that refracted the sun nicely if you held it up right. It was a good pilsner. Certainly better than most of the beers passing themselves off as pilsners in America. I also found it very drinkable later that evening as I enjoyed several more.

The beer pours an almost greenish yellow, somewhere slightly away from the orange spectrum of yellow. Excellent clarity, completely transparent, topped with a thick white froth. Some slow, sparse bubbles float up. The head dissipates into a thick collar almost immediately, dying away completely after a few sips. A bit disappointing, as I like pilsners that keep at least a little misting all the way through.
The aroma is a pleasant balance between clean pils malt and spicy. peppery saaz hops. Some other hop variety is present, contributng a soft herbal, earthy scent. Slight lemony fruitiness.
The flavor starts off with clean, sweet pils malt up front, slightly bready, bolstered by a bold, effervescent carbonation. A bit of honey sweetness in the middle, with a touch of lemony fruitiness. A clean, peppery saaz hopping, with just a touch of that herbal hop flavor, and a slightly astringent metallic flavor finishes the brew. Dryish in the finish, with a bready malt aftertaste lingering on the tongue for a long while. Light to medium bodied, with a bouyant, bouncy mouthfeel.
A pretty good pilsner beer. Interesting with the herbal hop flavor. I just recently saw this in my neck of the woods, and I'll certainly get it again. A great beer for damp summer heat.

Clear, lightish golden pour with a big fluffy white head after a pretty aggressive pour out of out of a 500ml brown bottle. I get no skunk in the aroma, but there is a wet grass/straw scent that is most prominent. There's a floral hint that I'd attribute to the hops, but I can't really sense a hop presence. You can, however, taste the hops. It's subtle, peppery, and grassy. This is clean and refreshing. I've always enjoyed this beer and it doesn't disappoint again.

Appearance: This brew pours with a rather full head that has thick foam. Very stylistic of a traditional Czech Pilsner. Color is a light straw. Head sustain is pretty good with clingings to the side of the glass. Impressive so far.

Smell: There is an earthy aroma. Malt and hops permeate the character with faint pine. The aroma is not overly strong but disipates rather quickly. Interesting, but nothing special for a beer of this style.

Taste: The flavor is light and airy. There is a rather strange cream essence that jumps out immediately. This is followed by a sweet nectar feel. Flowery and light. Not oppressive in any sense. Again, an interesting brew.

Mouthfeel: Very light. This is almost a "woman's brew". The interesting creamy presence during onset tends to keep the drinker's attention. I like this. Very airy on the palate.

Drinkability: This brew is about as filling as an American Light Macrobrew beer. Very easy to drink and not filling at all. This would be GREAT selection for female guests during a pool party or summer BBQ.

Prosit!

Nice pour. Deep red with a good haze and very nice head. Looks like a good APA.

Smells like caramel and overripe fruit. Maybe a little bit old, but still nice. It gets sweeter as it warms up.

Tastes like caramel and apricots. Caramel upfront, fruity in the back, ending on a dry citrus note that lingers on the tongue. The hops are few and far between, but what are there are good.

Pretty tasty, solid Czech pilsner. Probably be better fresh, but what am I going to do?

500ml green bottle poured into a Pilsener.

A: Pale straw color with a mediocre head at initial pour that fades to just surface scum. Light carbonation action the entire session from the bottom of the glass.

S: Light on the nose with a subtle mix of grains, grassy hops, a hint of sourness, and a scant service of sweet malt.

T/M: Perfect Pilsener body with a clean crisp finish. A mild dose of peppery hops on the front of the palate with some doughy malt in the back followed by some hop bitterness.

D: Lacking in head retention, this beer delivers every else. Not a bad brew and within all style guidelines.

Appearance was a light reddish. A bit surprising, as based on reviews, I expected a yellow pilsener.

Poured from the brown karlovacko bottle into a pint glass.

Taste is light, crisp and sweet. Extremely refreshing after a run.

Overall, an above average beer, and clearly surpassed expectation.

16.9 oz brown bottle. No freshness dating.

The beer pours a bright gold with a soapy loose but voluminous head.

The beer smells slightly spicy (Saz hops?) with a bit of grass. No off aromas at all.

The taste is fresh and clean. A bit of floral hop flavor with some underlying pepper. A bit of grainy goodness emerges about 1/3 of the way through.

Beer is a bit under carbonated, but it very smooth. Easy drinker here folks. While not overly complex, this is an enjoyable beer that would go well with a fish fry, fried chicken, a nice salad, heck it will go with anything that is not overly spiced.

This is an enjoyable and well made beer. $1.49 at Sam’s liquors in Downers Grove.

I've had this on tap in Croatia as well as in the bottle. Its a highly drinkable Czech Pils that's condusive to the Mediterrenean climate.

A - Golden straw color, pours with a light fluffy white head

S - Light malt nose with a touch of hops

T - Sweet maltiness & a siight hop bitterness in the finish

M - Medium bodied, fairly high carbonation.

D - A pretty standard Mediterranean lager apropo to the climate. Its a good poolside beer.

Had on tap in half litre glasses in several locations in Slovenia and Croatia while touring, at fair price of around €2.50 in most places.

Bright gold colour and crystal clear, fair head to start but dissipated quickly. Aroma was laid back, grassy and dry as in most European lager/pilsner styles, though not as strong as some.

Very clean crisp taste, slightly more malts at first, then hint of bitterness from hops comes through at the end, though no great lingering aftertaste. Did not have that "metallic" aftertaste that some mass produced beers suffer from. Very refreshing and easy to drink, I enjoyed this - especially on a hot sunny day, though nothing outstanding, very pleasant in the 'on tap' form I had and recommended.

500-mL green glass bottle.

This beer pours a clear, fizzy yellow color with creamy, white foam that persists and then leaves lacing on the glass. There is a fine stream of bubbles from the bottom of the glass. The smell is lightly malty with aromatic hops and a bit of sweetness. The taste has some nice, mild bitterness up front followed by some light malt sweetness. Kind of a one-dimensional flavor, but OK. The mouthfeel is crisp and dry overall with medium-light body. Some mild hop bitterness lingers in the finish. Overall a drinkable pilsner lager.

A gift from a freind of mine who hails from Kosovo, pours a medium clear golden with a thinner white head on top.Pretty highly carbonated, aroas are quite sweet and very fruity wich suprised me quite a bit but its pleasant.A little thin in body not quite watery but thin, nothing really stands out flavor wise except for a fruity finish it just seems to go down with not much flavor till a burst of fruit hits in the finish and aftertaste.Well Iam glad I got a chance to try this Croatian brew that goes down easly but with no frills.

Yep, I was drawn in by a beer from Croatia – let’s give it a try and see what happens.

Hey, not a bad start – straw yellow with a nice foamy white head. Constant stream of carb bubbles appear and rise. And river lacing cutting around the glass, too.

Lite aroma of steamed veggies, along with a barely discernable note of the Euro yeast skunk. Soft malts along with a nice hop hit at the finish. Crisp and dry, I could drink several at a session. Glad I tried it, not bad and made up for an otherwise boring evening.
