Just based on the location, this place deserves high marks. Like others have mentioned, an oasis in the middle of a beer desert. I'm a North County coastal local, but happen to have a ton of family on my wife's side that lives in Temecula....
So, I happen to frequnt the area occasionally. Honestly, this is the quintessential beer bar of my dreams, sans the region it's located in. The owner, and the help have been a true class act everytime I've been. The selection, especially since they just expanded is phenomenal. The last time I was there, they had: Alesmith Wee Heavy & Speedway, Port's Old ViscosityAND Older Viscosity, FW's Velvet Merkin, and a TON of others I can't remember... Plus, since they share old friendship with Vinnie, they sport PtE and Blind Pig all the time.
The new taproom is killer, with a map of Belgium detailing the trip destinations of the tours that are organized out of this place. So,,, in my experience, the owner, the help, and the local patrons are top-notch. A real craft beer gem, where the beer revolution is well underfoot... Highly recommended.

Barley and Hops is the best beer bar in the Inland Empire, hands down. Nowhere else will you find 41 taps and a couple of hundred bottles available with Pliny and Blind Pig permanently on draft. The atmosphere is pub/sports bar with tables and booths on the restaurant side in addition to the bar and a separate draft room with a pool table and video games. The service is excellent and the friendly staff is knowledgeable about both the beer and the menu. The food is pub fare and the entrees and sandwiches are very tasty. I highly recommend the pizza, as well. Food and beverage prices are reasonable. The monthly events and festivals are fun and always feature great beer themes with excellent special selections. Scott and his crew have done a great job in bringing a true craft beer experience to to the local area. I will be a regular customer as long as they stay in business!

Was here yesterday for the Younger release. What a great place.

Atm- Nice pub feel but just a bit newer in looks. Has a wide open feel with a big bar and a seperate draft room with some pool and video games.

Quality- Awesome tap and bottle list. The food was excellent with a big menu.

Service- Scott and the rest of the staff are on point, knowledgeble and very warm and welcoming.

Selection- It was Russian River week and to have so many sours and other great brews on tap was awesome, Younger, Elder, Pig, Supplication, Temptation, Consecration. I was excited to see My Bloody Valentine on tap there.

Food- The pizzas were great had the seafood pizza with shrimp and scallops.

Value- To have younger on tap for 9.99 was a steal. They could have charged way more and still been worth it. To even have sours on tap for the price I paid vs bottle. AWESOME.

If you're ever in Temecula, stop by and see scott and his staff. Great place and great people.

Great place. Great beer. Great food. Stopped in on a Thursday afternoon. Game was on. Bar was almost full. Probably 16 people in the place. Nice atmosphere. Clean bathrooms. Sat one aisle back from the bar and ordered some beers and food. Food was amazing. Not your typical pub grub. Shepherds Pie and Mac n' Cheese split between two. Both were outstanding. Wish I'd ordered the larger Mac. Beer was awesome. My only complaint, and I mean ONLY complaint, is that they tend to not have their tap list updated. So if you're like me and you tend to go from what's on the board, you might miss out on some choice selections. I overheard someone order a Port Hop 15 - a beer that I adore but didn't see on the list. So I ordered one for the next round. I'll look at the tap handles next time or have a more in depth conversation with the bartender. Who was very nice. Way to Go Barley and Hops Olde World Family Tavern! Highly recommended.

I have been to Barley and Hops several times and have always had a good time.

The selection of beer is one of the best in 25 mile radius. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and the bar tenders are really knowledgeable.

I missed my chance to try Pliny the Younger here earlier this year and last time I was there they had ran out of Pliny the Elder. I had Blind Pig instead.

The food is pretty good at a decent price. I've had their pizza and some sort of sliders. There's also an In-N-Out within walking distance that's open pretty late!

This is the place to go if you like beer and are in the area. The location isn't too great, but you get a much better beer selection and atmosphere than a place like Yardhouse.

I am a regular to this Tavern so I am a little biased but I can say this is by far the best place to get a beer in the Inland Empire. If you are anywhere in the Temecula area it is a must stop. Even my wife who isn't a beer drinker loves to come for the food.

It is not like a typical bar that isn't really kid friendly, when they call it a Family Tavern that is exactly what it is. I bring my 20 month old son all the time and there are always families having dinner/lunch. This is one place you can bring the kids and not worry about wet T-shirt contest or fights breaking out.

I have only met one other place that has a better beer selection and that was Toronado's down in San Diego. 250+ Beers in the bottle and about 35 beers on tap now that they have the additional room. Just recently had Abyss and Angel's Share.

Food is great but it is your typical pub food and much is deep fried. Scotch eggs, Bangers, Burgers, Pizza ect... I recommend the make your own Pizza and Salad. Price on the food is very reasonable $8-$16 ish for most items.

This is a newer pub with a warm feel to it and a outdoor seating area. You cannot see it from the highway so if you are a first time visitor, like me, you have to keep an eye out or you will go on by.
I was there at lunch and it was slow so I had time to chat with the owner Scott. This gentlemen is full of beer knowledge and of course we talked about Russian River, and Blind Pig was on tap so I am a happy guy. The tap list ranges from Americans to Belgians and some English and others. In addition they have around 200 in bottles. The food is pub fare that is well done, I had a burger and fries and again well done and tasty.
If you are looking for a good selection of American micro beer this is the spot in the area, and by area I mean Ontario,Corona and Riverside.
One might say what about the Yard House and my answer would be, Russian River!!!

I found this place last year and have be come a regular. The place is just great!

Everyone that works there really knows their beer and seems to like working there. Most will go to work and then hang out with the regulars after their shifts are over. It really helps that all of the women that work there are very attractive and are very willing to talk to anyone (helps their tips if nothing else.)

As of right now they have 20 beers on tap and about 200 in bottles. 10-12 are more or less permanent and the other 8-10 are rotating with new stuff coming all of the time. The rotating taps are always micros and are normally local. The are expanding, or planing to very soon, and will be adding 30 more taps, bringing the total to 50 and adding about 300 more bottles, making it 500. They have beers from world's best beer producing countries; Belgium, England, Germany, and the West Coast of the United States. As well as Ireland, The Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Scotland, Denmark, and the rest of the U.S.

But do not order a bud, miller, ect... they will ring a bell and the whole bar will boo you!

Every day of the week there is a special daily deal they do. Mon is British, Tue is Celtic, Wed is German, Thur is Belgium, Fri is bomber night, Sat is kick the keg, and Sun is craft night. Each night it is $2 off taps and $1 off bottles.

Really the place is great and I take all my friends there and they all love it!

You won't see the establishment from the street, but you will see a sign for it as you drive east on CA-79, just as you pass Pechanga Parkway.

The inside is clean, with the walls covered in beer memorabilia. The bar made of dark wood which sits the middle of the back, and several TV's are scattered throughout the tavern. This has all the making a great vibe, despite being the only customer when I arrived just after their 11 am opening. Not to worry...I got my share of conversation with bartender (and proprieter?) Scott, who did a great job coversing with me in beerineese.

Barley & Hops dispenses 20 beers from draft, and an additional 200 beers from the bottle. It has a very good mix of Belgian, English, German, and American beer, and some miscellaneous countries. On draft during my visit, they were pouring Hop Wallop, Blind Pig, Green Flash Pale, Big Eye, Stone Smoked Porter, Hoegaarden, Spaten Dunkel and Premium Lager, Hofbrau, Oceanside Ale Works, a few others. In the bottle: Moylan's, Karmeliet, Anderson Valley, Traquair Jacobite, Harvieston, Samichlaus, Popperings, AleSmith, La Trappe, Orval, Oskar Blues, St. Louis Gueuze Fond Tradition. Both the bottles and drafts are reasonably priced, and the latter is served in two sizes, 10 ounces and 20 ounces. Know your ABV's if you go draft, as I ended up downing a 10.4% ABV wee heavy in a 20 ounce glass without knowing it. Speaking of glassware, they do have more than several pieces of branded and shaped glassware.

Every day of the week, there is a special beer theme. Whatever the theme is, you can get a discout on your beer. Thursday is Belgian Beer Day, where a consumer can get $1 off Belgian from the bottle, and $2 off any Belgian draft.

The pulled pork sandwich was alright. I guess I've been spoiled by the BBQ joint I frequent. It was served tall on a toasted bun, and served with crispy potato wedges.

Barley & Hops is an oasis in the desert known as the I.E. Without a doubt in my mind, this is a must stop if you're in the area. And if you're looking for places to stop at to spend your winnings from Pechanga (like I was), this is just a couple miles from the casino.

Can it be? An establishment within a half hour drive of my home that regularly has Pliny on tap? Maybe there's a God after all. Anyway...

Finally made it out to this place last week with a beer geek buddy of mine. Took us awhile to find; don't trust the map that Google provides. The inside is a rustic looking tavern. Very clean. Taps are located in the middle of the bar with bottle refers on either side. Awesome selection. Bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. I was surprised and a little worried at how empty it was for a Saturday night. I want this place to stay open.

I ordered Cantillon Gueuze and my buddy ordered Lost Abbey's Judgment Day. As we sipped our brews the place started getting a few more patrons. My night was cut short, however, due to a bizarre allergic reaction to the gueuze I was drinking.

Great place for Southern IE. I'll be back many a night.

I stumbled across Barley and Hops quite by accident while visiting relatives in Temecula. I mean, a sign along the road that says anything about barley, hops, or any other beer-related ingredient catches my eye. So having already braved traffic twice during my trip to visit Stone Bistro some 60 miles south, I decided to take a chance on this local place tucked among the strip malls and chain restaurants on CA79. Wow, am I glad that I did!

A spacious, new looking restaurant with a couple dozen tables and an inviting bar greeted my entrance, as did a Red Sox game on the plasma over the taps. That alone was a pleasant surprise, but what topped it was the Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig taps front and center. Having never tried any of the well-respected Russian River brews, my wife and I pulled up a chair right in front of them. A knowledgeable bartender poured me a Pliny and a Firestone Union Jack IPA for the missus (both were awesome). I followed with a flight of 4 local brews, each a 3-4 oz pour, which is exactly what I wanted since the Pliny was served in an imperial-sized pint glass.

Also on tap were several west coast brews from the likes of Stone, Port Brewing and others, along with some German, Belgian and UK offerings-20 taps in all (the original 18 plus the 2 RR taps appear to be recent add-ons). Some taps were failrly common (Boddingtons, Stella, Hoegaarten, etc.), but the rotating local taps are said to be changed frequently. Also available were 100+ bottles from all over the world. The food was better than average pub fare excellently prepared.

If you're in Temecula and don't want to fight the traffic in order to hit up any of the beer destinations in San Diego, give this place a try. I recommend it highly.
