Aroma of caramel, and some fruitiness.

Looks golden in colour. Thin white head. Low head retention, some lace.

Taste: Malty, low to medium bitterness. Some grainy flavour. Some fruity esters.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied. avg carbonation.

Overall, it's a good sessionable Beer, from an independently owned craft microbrewery.

355ml can. This is now brewed at Hog's Head in St. Albert, even though they seem to still be using the old can labels. Thanks to Jim from the brewery for the sample.

This beer pours a clear, dark reddish amber hue, with two fingers of puffy, slightly bubbly, densely foamy ecru head, which leaves some droopy webbed lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of biscuity, nutty caramel malt, a soft flinty minerality, and earthy, leafy hops. The taste is bready caramel malt, a touch of stale toffee, gritty, almost salty tea biscuits, a bit of musty earth, and soft leafy, mildly fruity hops.

The bubbles are a tad peppy, but even out over time, the body an adequate medium weight, and low-grade smooth, like a country road after a few months' worth of 'traffic'. It finishes off-dry, the biscuity malt doing well to propagate an overall sweetness, with a soft, somewhat sour fruity hoppiness balancing things out.

I'm guessing that Hog's Head has adjusted the recipe or something since the days of Roughneck Brewing, as this is no Blonde ale - much more of a nut brown or the like. Tasty enough, and simple, pretty much in the same category as Trad, and in a handy can to boot. Thoroughly under the radar in these parts, even though this could readily pass as a low(er) cost, more flavourful alternative to the the lager hegemony of its particular shelf space.

Another can for the collection, companion to the Pipeline Lager.
Gold towards orange color with a slightly orangish foam. Large head quickly shrinks to a thin ring, minimal lace. Sweet smelling, pineapple-like fruitiness.
Sweetish malty taste, a bit grainy with more fruit coming through. Very low bitterness or hops. Light mouthfeel, decent carbonation keeps it from being too thin. Slightly above average.

Can from trade:

Pours a pale looking ale with a small cap...weak aromas...some sweet malt,... hints of fruit,... not much else.

Taste is pretty bland with no off similar to their lager, fast finish.

Meh...another lame cream ale. Can't see this brewer lasting.
