Stopped in while in Montreal, I heard this place was great and it didn't disappoint. Right on the corner on Rachel. This is a block up from Sherbrooke so its pretty convenient from downtown to shoot over. The beer is in the back room, shelves and displays all over, tons of different Quebec micros. Growlers in the cooler, pretty much anything available from Quebec is here. The prices were a touch higher than some of the other stores I've been to, but I don't mind paying a bit more for the convenience factor of being able to pick up everything in one shot. The owners were friendly and the beer guy was very helpful. He even helped bring a box out to the car. This is a must stop in Montreal for buying beer.

Was not sure what to expect, but I needed some cans to stock the fridge in my apartment so I followed the reviews. Wow. Amazing selection of beers: focused on Quebec (I never realized how deep Quebec was until I came here) - more diverse selection would be nice but it’s a minor nit. Incredible to think this is basically a convenience store first.

I have been to quite a few Depanneur's in Montreal and this one definitely has the best selection. Highly focused of Quebec beer, but since the provincial scene is so strong, this should not be a problem for any beer lover.

Came here with a group of friends on a recent trip to Montreal.

Bought the following beers:
Dieu du Ciel! Saison du Parc (4-pack)
St-Ambroise Session IPA (473ml cans)
Pit-Caribou IPA Américaine (650ml bottle)

Well laid out store with a very large and diverse selection of Quebec micros. Only some of the beer is refrigerated. But I found some great beers at decent prices and was happy with my purchases. Service was non-existent (employees were up front at the cash till), but I'm sure they would've helped us had we asked. Overall experience was good and I would recommend this store to any beer geek visiting or living in the area.

I'm not sure if this is the same place as the one I visited on Rue Beaubien E. but it has the same name.
I was visiting Montreal this past week and I happened to walk by and stop in. Needless to say, I was humbled by the vast selection they had. This was no ordinary depanneur. It looked like a mecca for beer geeks. I could have spent the whole day there, but unfortunately, I was unfamiliar with about 95% of the local and Canadian craft breweries, so I picked up various beers from the region. The sales staff seemed very knowledgeable and helpful. Next time I return, I'll be better prepared.

The best beer store in Quebec and probably one of the best in Canada. The selection is incredible and always fresh. The service is excellent and everyone working there knows a lot about beer. Don't be fool by the first part of the store which seems like any Montreal corner store, the magic is in the back room were you will find more beers than you will ever need or taste.

Although I've lived in Montreal for some time, this was my first visit to the store. My expectations were high and were, unfortunately, only partially met. Their selection was unbelievable, including all the latest from Brasserie Dunham, Le Castor, and Au Val (which had just released new beers). My issue with their store was service. On two occasions (with different employees), I inquired about certain beers and styles, and was greeted both times with indifferent responses. Despite this, I will probably return, as their selection of QC craft beer is top-notch.

This place is a must stop if you are staying in Montreal. From outside it looks like a dingy little dep (convenience store) but walk to the back and there is a second room well lit with wood floors that has virtually every beer you could ever want brewed in Quebec! They have staff just helping with beer selection and always have the rare (whales) Quebec beers! This is the place to go for Beers while visiting the city and I only wish I lived closer to it. Cheers!

Visited recently and after many recommendations.

Honestly, I don't get it. The selection is no better than any other stores I frequent in my region (NCR - Gatineau) and the prices are about the same. I tried to get service in both French and English and it was pretty mediocre in both. Selection was decent, but as I said nothing worth driving for.

A nice store, decent stock and fair prices. Service could be better. I don't see reason it rates so highly though.

I make the 20 minute drive every second weekend and stock up. You would never realize from the outside, it looks like a ghetto boni-soir, but its actually very well-maintained inside. Keep walking and you'll come to a nice little shop in the back. So many choices and so well organized, by type, and by brewer. Well worth the trip!!! I know theres a few other good places in the city but I havent bothered to check them out because this place is top notch!

Definitely my favourite bottle shop in the city. When you enter the front door, it largely resembles any other well-maintained dépanneur. After walking past the selection of industrial lagers and walking up a step or two, you're greeted by a vast assortment of fine Québec microbrews in the back room. Every month it seems there are new choices I've not yet tried. Some have lamented the price of the bottles here. Being a dep, it's not the cheapest place, but I've yet to see a location in town with as many options on the shelf.

IMHO, a real gem.

Very nice store, if a little out of the way (a lot for me). But well worth passing by if ever in the area.

As others have said, upon entry the place seems like any other dep, but in the back the entire area is dedicated to beers. There is warm beer on shelves and cold in coolers. The majority seems to be in single bottles, but there are some six packs as well as macros, beer-based products, glassware, etc.

The selection is top notch and not only features new and special releases not found elsewhere in MTL, but also has breweries not found elsewhere and less common brews from some breweries that are.

The shelves are arranged by style which is not my favorite way to go about it, but it is an excellent idea for anyone visiting or not well-versed in the beers and breweries of QC. And actually, it just takes a little getting used to and it becomes a very logical set-up.

The freshness of stuff was about what you would find elsewhere, although I found some Moralité on the shelves that was considerably older than in the coolers, so be aware.

Excellent store all-in-all. Straight-up has the biggest selection you'll find. It would logically be a 5 in that category, but its immensity means it is really popular and between that and being in a good spot for a lot of people, it often runs out of popular beers before other, smaller stores.
The best thing about it, though is that since it is a depanneur it stays open till 23h which is really nice, as elsewhere in town late at night your selection is more limited.

Right off the bat, I'll come right out and say that I think the reason why the ratings for this place are so high are from all the Americans that visit and see a huge amount of beers they've never tried and can't normally get.

The atmosphere of this place is...well...it's a depanneur. It's a corner store that figured out that craft beer is a good game to be in. If you just look at the craft beer section in the back of the store, it comes off as any other cool craft beer store. It also has the 'let's get some chips while we're here' thing goin' on too though. The aisles in the beer section are a bit narrow, but who cares. Big fridge space, well lit, nothing wrong.

I guess you'd have to drink the beer to figure this one out. But ya, in terms of quality, the store was good. Lot's of beers were refrigerated, which is always a good sign.

Service seemed good. Nobody approached me, but staff were constantly talking to customers, helping them, and answering questions. Seemed like they knew their stuff.

Selection is pretty great. Albeit no better than the two better beer stores just across the river in Gatineau. Apparently it's the best in Montreal though, so then it must be pretty damn good.

Prices were a bit high, but I think the LCBO spoils Ontario shoppers in this regard. I noticed a few beers that were more expensive than Ontario. And $3.99 for small singles of Trois Mousquetaires seems a bit odd

Overall this place is a good beer store, and definitely the place to go in Montreal, but I felt a bit jipped knowing I could probably do just as good with a 20 minute drive to Gatineau.

Stopped in here on Monday around 11AM. This was like the Julio's/Foodery/Deciccos/Olive Tree Market of Montreal to me, awesome selection.

In the front it looks like a regular convenience store but a small walk to the back and there is a pretty big room (Montreal terms) dedicated to micobrews.

The atmosphere was nice. Clean presentation, bottles lined up on shelves neatly organized by style. Big cooler selection, seemed to be sorted by brewery in there. I liked how I could pick a style and just grab a few bottles from different breweries, I grabbed 4-5 big stouts.

Quality was great as well. Like I said, the beer looked clean, ie lacked dust and the dates I saw on cases or singles were all within reasonable limits for a store with such a huge amount of different beers.

I didn't really ask any questions but there were several people working in the store and from what I gathered they knew enough about beer. He told me about specials they had and was nice. Didn't run out to offer advice, which I personally don't care about.

Mostly carried Quebec/Candian micorbrews, which is what I was looking for. I didn't bother to notice if there was any macros or import beer. Huge amount of singles on the top few shelves of each aisle with respective 4/6/12 packs below, I really liked the layout. I went up and down the aisle and there seemed to be 20-30 different examples of each style. Saisons, fruit beers, stouts, browns, IPAs and Belgian adaptations. I can't imagine another store in Montreal with a bigger selection of beer. They also had a great glassware selection, better than any store I can currently think of in the USA.

Prices were the same as any other store I looked for beer in. Montreal tax is a killer but that applies to all stores obviously. $2-3 per 12oz, $3-6 per 500ml, $6-15 per 750ml, etc etc. Reasonable.

The front of the store carried some snacks, wine, soda and whatever else the common Depanneur carries.

If you go to Montreal, this is a must visit. They also had a small PARKING LOT right next door where you don't have to pay, not too common in that city. That being said it was probably 1-2 miles from St. Laurent/busy areas of Downtown. Anyways, get here if you want to feel like a kid in a candy shop of Quebec micros.

So the remodel they did went well - for a mini mart this place is very nice! In fact, once you're back in the "nice beer" section (out of the mini mart) you would never know you were anywhere but in a nice beer store.

And it's a very nice beer store. It's certainly overwhelming for a foreigner with no knowledge of Canadian beer to go in because it is overwhelmingly Canadian! Another reviewer wrote "if it's Canadian they have it" but that is far from the case - I did not see any of the beers I know from the Atlantic seaboard. But... HOLY COW are there ever a lot of Quebecois beers! Four or five aisles of Quebecois beers... It's nuts!

There is some semblance of order in the aisles - IPA, Belgian-Style single and tripel, dark and heavy, amber, um. And at least 2 others I forget just now (ha). Then all around that, in the cold case, against the walls, in center bits, things are arranged by brewery or as specials (when it arrived, whatever). There's a glass aisle (mostly locals, some European) and some tshirts, too.

What makes this place stand out:
- it's nice, clean, airy, well-designed, organized.
- the selection of locals is phenomenal

What could make it better for me:
- maybe... Maybe the place is designed specifically for locals but as someone from somewhere else I'm utterly at a loss when confronted with hundreds of beers I've never heard of! Shelf talkers of any kind would have been so appreciated! That's maybe complicated for them in that the BA shelf talkers are in English but, dang it, if I have to look up every single beer to have any idea what it's about then it makes being there take a really long time!
- I want an itemized receipt, please, and not just the cash ticket!
- having help that seeks out customers and asks if they want/need help would work for me. Maybe that's not the style of Montreal, I dunno...

Probably the largest selection of Quebec beers in the Montreal area. The store is also in the middle of renovations that will be increasing its size. The prices are a little bit higher than what I'm used to, but not excessive. Apparently they carry Hopfenstark and Trou Du Diable, but they didn't have any in stock. Most beers are available in singles and it was pretty easy to find parking. The staff was pretty busy moving stuff around as part of the renovations, so I can't really comment on the service. Definitely the spot to go for anyone from out of town looking for Quebec beers to take home.

Wowsers.

This place was a five minute drive from my lodging on a recent Montreal bachelor weekend/beer extravaganza, and I made a point to go based upon the positive reviews herein.

Doesn't look too special from the outside, and even once you're in the front door, just looks like a basic convenience store with cases of Molson and Labatt's and whatnot. But when you keep walking towards the back, you eventually realize you're in a one of a kind beer emporium. My knowledge of Canadian microbrews not from Dieu Du Ciel is minimal, but suffice it to say, if they brew it in Canada, chances are it's here.

And they've got tall boys of PBR Dry! I can't get that in NYC.

Hundreds of beers..all of your Quebec microbrewers and a large number of the province's top 50. Nice selection of glassware, as well. Everything is in French which makes things take a little longer when browsing but the staff are friendly and helpful.

I bought so much beer they ended up throwing in some posters and a Blanche du Chambly glass.

Staff is quite knowledge and always willing to help. Location is a bit off from downtown but not too far form highway 15 which is convenient for me. Prices might be a bit higher then other places in town but far justified with selection. Nice selection of quebec ciders. Parking is quite ample in that part of town.
