Beware the outdated singles. Some over a year old and sitting at room temp. Beware the high prices. I do not live here, but I know it's an expensive area. Still...Holy crap! 11 oz. bottles of Chimay nearing double digit prices! I put together a mixed six to get me through a 4 night hotel stay in the area. Also grabbed some Old Chub and some SA Imperial Pilsner. I have not checked the dates on all of these yet but two from the mixed six I have opened are severely out of date.

Bright store, cheery register dude, and rich customers looking for over-priced wine.

Hey stop in and find yourself something to pass the time, but do not go here to stock up on anything.

And check those dates.

Decent selection of American craft beers and a small selection of quality imports.

The service wasn't bad, but they don't seem very knowledgeable on beers. The focus seems more on wine and the beer is simply there to appeal to more customers.

The main problem with this store is that it's located in King Farm. As a result, the owners pass on the high property rent to the customers. For example, DFH 6-packs can go up to $12.99 compared to $8.99-9.99 at most places. Young's Double Chocolate Stout (4-pack) is $14.99 compared to $8.99 at some places.

For the area, they have a good selection of beer, but there are places with an equal, if not better, selection at significantly cheaper prices.

Visited here on my recent trip to DC. I stayed in Rockville, and there is no beer in grocery stores. the few "beer & wine" stores I found were all very ordinary.
This place has a nice selection and knowledeable staff. Its location is very nice as it is in an upscale neighborhood with many other shops and restaurants around.
Many varieties are available as well as a very nice selection of singles available for purchase. I thought the selecton of 750's could be a bit more original but what they had was OK.
Search this place out when you are in the area.

When reviewing any beer shop in Montgomery county Maryland you have to start with the disclaimer that the county government controls all alcohol distribution. For that reason it is incredibly difficult to create a quality beer shop in the county despite it being one of the most wealthy, educated and populous counties in the country. I know of 3 decent beer stores in Montgomery county. This is one of them.

King Farm Wine has a 15ish foot shelving unit full of single beers in 12oz to Bomber size bottles. Imported German, Belgian and other European beers as well as locals such as Dogfish Head's latest creation and regional and country wide craft brewers (Omegang, Brooklyn etc). The selection rotates at a decent interval. There are 3 or 4 cooler windows full of craft beer six packs and bombers from local breweries (Dogfish Head, Flying Dog, Clipper City/Heavy Seas as well as imports and regionals. I can usually find something new to try as well as a few of my favorites and you'll often see new seasonals from the local breweries.

The shop is run by a few guys who seem to be wine/beer geeks. Hefe on BA is the beer guy. This was a vast change from the previous ownership of the shop who was more interested in selling lottery tickets and calling cards. The shop sells wine and beer only, so they're not trying to make money selling the other junk which clutters lesser beer shops.

Please check them out and keep the place in business. I live in the neighborhood (King Farm) and am doing my part.
