Stopped in after work and after some trouble finding it, I was glad I did.
To begin this place is a high end grocery store that specializes in fresh produce and artisan meats ect. There is a large shelf dedicated to beer and a walk in cooler which possess a large selection from breweries ranging from various NW breweries, to various other U.S. micros and imports. The prices seemed high but nothing too unreasonable.
Depending on the day the service varies. On days when Joe is in the service is amazing as Joe is incredibly knowledgeable about beer and wine and quite helpful. Other days the staff is mostly what appear to be high school girls.
All in all this is a great place to stop in the south sound to get great beer. I will be coming here again quite soon I'm sure.

An organic market that for some inexplicable reason, has a phenominal beer selection. They have a lot of good foreigns, but a great selection of US micros and limited releases. Their beer guy knows his stuff and orders the right stuff fo sho ;) When he isn't there (which for some reason is the only time I go to the place) the service isn't very helpful, but then thats what you get with a bunch of apathetic high school girls who don't care about beer. I won't doc them for that though, otherwise this is a solid place to grab something special and pick up a quick gourmet dinner.

A: Pretty good. No beer geek speak.
Q: Good. The beers I bought from here were fresh and preoperly stored for the most part. A few beers outside the cooloer with wine but they could handle it since they were more strong ales than anything
S: Ok. I saw the last review and went to see if they had any FW13 leftover by chance, nope. i asked the clerk about FW13 and he said they could order it..I knew then the game was over. I justr let it go and checked out. Overall, people were uber nice and helpful.
S: Good. The rarest thing I saw was a TREAT and a Older Viscosity. Bruery, Port, lots of local stuff, some Belgians and a really good selection but nothing Earth shattering

Absolutely love this place and Joe, their beer and wine specialist, is great. The store overall is great with high quality produce, amazing fruit, butcher, great wine selection, and an ever growing beer selection with a ton of labels that would really surprise you and overall great prices. Some things seemed a bit high, whereas other did not. C'mon, who can complain about $17 bottles of Firestone Walker 13????
As mentioned, Joe is great .. but when Joe is gone you're on your own as nobody else really deals with the beer. Most the people you find on the floor are just highschool kids or people not even old enough to drink, so they're not really much help. So that's about my only criticism of the store and it's not even that big of one, but that's the only reason why it's not a 5 for service.
A must checkout and I spend a ton of money in there!

The South Hill Puyallup location boasts 500 labels. I found a Russian River hiding amongst the group which was enough to make my visit happy. However, $2 a bottle for Left Hand is rather high, but I love their ESB so I got a bottle of that anyway. I was hoping to nab a 22oz of Anderson Valley Oatmeal Stout; however, they did not have any amongst their AV collection. An employee who was stocking suggested Samuel Smith's as an alternative of which I declined. He than said he would make sure to put it in their next order to have it for me...so far so good, if he pulls through I will make sure to visit a little more often. If they get their prices into the reasonable range I would be a regular.
Update: Joe has done amazing things the last few years he has been at this location, just look for the "somellier on duty" caricature cut out of Joe outside and he's sure to be around. Joe knows his wine well too and has built a nice collection of that too. Anderson Valley oatmeal stout is always available now even though my tastes have changed and I don't pick it up much anymore. But the point being if they say they will get it for you they will get it for you.

This review is for the store on 6th Ave. in Tacoma.
Tacoma Boys recently expanded their beer selection. It is fairly extensive now with some very high-end options (dogfish head 120 + their specialty releases), Jolly Pumpkin, $15 Belgian 750ml, German beers, Avery, Russian River, local micros, etc. Tacoma Boys try's to be a high-end produce, butcher, deli type of place. The selection truly is pretty good now.
Unfortunately their business model puts their prices at the high-end also. A few beers are clearly marked-up above average while others are in-line.
I listed their service as average because I have never interacted with the staff in relation to beer. The checkout people are friendly.
The Tacoma Pipe, Tobacco & Beer Shop on S. 56th recently added beers and claimed they wanted to have the largest selection in Pierce County. Tacoma Boys expanded selection is probably close. Between the two stores there is now a large selection of high-end beer within the city limits of Tacoma lessening the need to drive up to 99 bottles in Federal Way. (although 99's total overall selection is probably larger).
