I was last here about 11 - 12 years ago and they had a much more interesting selection then with more obscure labels. One good thing about it is it's right next door to K Pauls restaurant so you can get a to go cup after you've picked up some carry out food. Service was ok although half of the attention paid us was proly to make sure we weren't pinching something. They had all the usual macros, couple of regionals, the most common micros and better Belgians plus a few Brits & Germans. Sidney's some blocks away has a better selection.

Stopped in during a visit to New Orleans. It was close to closing time, so it was incredibly busy out on the street. The shop is fairly small and deep. Lots of wine, but not much beer I'm afraid. They have a few Belgians out of the cooler (e.g. Chimay), but the cooler had nothing but crap and some Abita. Definitely not worth a stop if you have options.

Vieux Carre Wine & Spirits is a decent option located right next to K-Pauls in the French Quarter. There is a lot of beer here lined up against the walls going back to the stock room. Great variety of English, Belgian, and macro beers. The prices are very reasonable for the area. The employees really did not interact with customers, but that really does not bother me. They were friendly. While I wish there was more local beer here, the variety will impress most. Prices are well within reason. This is a cute but average shop worth a stop on the New Orleans beer circuit.

This place is great, especially since it's right in the middle of the Quarter. Their prices are very competitive, especially considering their location. A great selection of cold beer in the coolers up front, and an even better one in the back. They have a pretty good selection of Belgians and other imports, as well as some good domestic micros. They'll even offer to open your beer for you and give you a to-go cup.

If you're from out of town and are staying downtown, check it out. It's especially convenient if you don't have a car, and you're staying in the French Quarter.
