I have found this place to be indispensible when we say in North Beach. There are always a few oddities, and plenty to choose from both in six packs and bombers. Some interesting Belgians as well as seasonals from local breweries and a few of the national craft brews. Not a huge selection but well chosen. Prices are typical for the city.

The people who work here are extremely agreeable, and eager to help. I've bought beer glasses here for a very nice price as well. Very clean and tidy with a good selection of wines and interesting liquors. It's the best by far in this area of cramped little grocery stores having zilch for beer. It's also handy to Fisherman's Wharf, the #30 and #8 run frequently and stop right across the street.

I found the selection here pretty good. Sure, being in this area can get kind of lame with the excessive tourists and all the businesses trying to lure them in. But the variety here is noteworthy with a good width of things to choose from. The prices here will be prohibitive, but so is rent in this area I'm sure. It's right next to Rogue and will get the job done, if you're in need. For more serious and deliberate purchases, I'd probably go elsewhere due to pricing and location. Bottom line: if you're in a pinch, sure.

That was easy, it's only a few shops down from the Rogue Public House on Union St. I ventured in on curiosity and found a place with a decent selection of beer. The interior is groomed attractively. Wine is the main focus of this store, taking up much of the space on the sales floor. A few coolers held craft beer and a small selection sitting at store temp. Organized and neat, beers like Straffe Hendrik, Stone, Pickled Santa, Oskar Blues, and Jolly Pumpkin are ready to be bought and taken home. There are (obviously) other stores in San Fran with a larger selection of beer (including the two otehr stores I visited that day), but in a pinch Coit Liquors will do.

Stopped in here yesterday afternoon while trying to kill time in North Beach.

This is a wine store, first and foremost. The craft beer selection occupies three wall coolers and a few shelves in the back right corner.

Most of Coit's selection comes from popular American craft breweries like Dogfish Head, North Coast, Sierra Nevada, etc. There are also a few Belgian beers, including Duvel, Chimay Red and Blue, and Cuvée Van Der Keizer Red and Blue. In terms of rare(r) offerings, I spotted Victory Wild Devil and Drie Fonteinen Schaerbeekse Kriek ($40 for a 750mL!). That's about it.

I don't think I'll ever will buy anything here strictly because the prices are WAY too high. That said, the owner/cashier seemed to be friends with everyone that came into the store; I'm guessing he's established a solid following that's willing to pay a bit more to buy from him.

Coit Liquors is on the corner of Union/Colombus right in the heart of north beach. They are the typical size liquor store for San Francisco(small). A bar is present right when you walk in the door, but it is only used for wine tastings. Speaking of wine, that's what this store is focused on.
Almost the whole store is wine with only 2 coolers for beer. Their beer selection is typical for N.Cal. They have PtE and pig, a lot of Belgium's,and the standard Sierra fare. Plus the 2 DFH's(midas&90)that are everywhere up here. So...not so great all in all.
The street on the other hand has some really great pizza(Cincetta), and next door to that is the Rogue ales public house!
