Plum market is my new favorite place to go grocery shopping because I get to spend 15-20 minutes perusing the beer section each time. It's a lot like Whole Foods with less of an arrogant uppity feel to it in my opinion.
Overall the quality and selection is pretty good, and great for a grocery store. Lots of local Michigan Microbrews (Founder's, Bell's, Dark Horse, Arbor Brewing, New Holland, Arcadia etc. and even some Dragonmead, in both six packs and in the singles cooler. Behind you on a warm shelf is an excellent selection of single bomber and magnum bottles including all the usual suspects. One that really stood out to me here was that they had North Coast's Brother Thelonius, which I have not seen anywhere else in town.
One of my only complaints is that I wish the singles cooler had more to choose from. It's a quality selection of singles, don't get me wrong, but I would like to see more of the 6 packs they sell represented.
The service is excellent, each time I've been in there, the beer guy at the store has noticed how much time I spend in the beer aisle and asked if I have any questions. One thing that impressed me on our last visit was when my girlfriend accidentally knocked over and broke a bomber of ST Choklat Imperial Stout (I had a serious talk with her later about what she had done) they were totally cool about it and cleaned it up without charging us for the bottle. On a side note, it smelled so good I decided to pick one up next time I go in.
Prices are great, especially if you look for the deals. The last time I went in they had Brooklyn BCS at 6.99 a 4 pack, SN Anniversary Ale at 12.99 a 12 pack, and DFH Indian Brown, 60 minute and 90 minute for 8.99 a sixer and 4 pack (the 90), respectively. To be fair these were all sales but still, I've never seen prices like those for DFH or SN anywhere really.
Overall definitely worth checking out if you are in the Ann Arbor area.
Edit 10-30-09: The last time I went in they had expanded their singles cooler to include almost all of their six packs, an excellent decision in my opinion. Plum market is quickly becoming my go to beer stop.

Fine selection of local, national and international brews here. The intermationals seem to favor Germany and UK. Rare beers come thru: I just picked up a sixer of Shorts Strawberry Shorts Cake and a six pack of Greenbush Distorter. Very knowledgable beer guy mentioned KBS and some other rarities coming thru at other times. Founders Mango with habanero was on the shelf.
Given the volume and variety, the store has far too little shelf space devoted to beer, and the aisle was quite crowded with piles of cases in front of the beer coolers and shelves.
Value for beer actually seems good, but being from out of state it is hard to tell. As a reference, Unibroue bombers were $7.99. Most food items, on the other hand, are premium priced. This place almost makes Whole Foods look cheap. Hence the compromise $$$ rating.

Excellent selection & display. Staff is also helpful and go the extra distance to help you. For example, i was looking for a 4-pack of a specific item and they only had 3 bottles of it, so they substituted the would-be 4th item with something awesome. Also helps that they have great food available and are right off the highway.

When I visited: March 2012.
What I bought: Bell’s Hop Slam and Hell Hath No Fury, Jolly Pumpkin Maracaibo Especial and Madrugada Obscura, Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine 2012, Brasserie Dupont Avec Les Bons Voeux, Goose Island Fleur.
What I liked: Sizeable variety of bombers at fair prices. Good European selection with several rarities. Tons of refrigerated sixers and singles from Great Lakes, Lagunitas, Victory, North Peak, Short’s, and Flying Dog.
What I disliked: Less service-oriented than The Wine Seller, have to watch for out-of-code stock.
Would I go back? Definitely.

abanton showed me this place in a recent visit to Ann Arbor for the La Roja GR release.
This is a small, "Whole Foods" type market that from the outside you wouldn't expect a great craft selection. Adam led me over to the beer isle, and I was very impressed. A really nice range of beers from great German Hefe's to Belgian Quads like Rochefort 10, St. Bernardus Abt 12, and some a decent selection of Belgian sours. They have a very good Michigan craft selection, and fairly reasonably priced.
The next time I am in the area, I will be sure to stop in. Nice, clean, friendly place.

While visiting Ann Arbor this is a good place to make a stop for beer. They are strong on Michigan beers and lots of the stock is kept refrigerated. Everything I checked with a date on it was within code.
In the store there are two locations for beer. Along one wall with the refrigerated bottles of wine is a refrigerated case with a wide variety of singles if that is what you are looking for. Then more to the middle of the store there is a refrigerated case with six and four packs. They had the full range of Bell's, some Dragonmead, Arcadia, and even some stock from some quite small Michigan breweries, e.g., Mackinaw Summer Love Wheat.
On the other side of that same aisle there are several shelf units with a wide range of imports running from Belgians such as the Rocherfort beers and a variety of Lambics, Gueuzes and Krieks (e.g., Lindemans, Hanssens, Oud Beersel) on to some quite nice German beers (e.g., Wehenstephaner, etc.).
One of the clerks went out of her way to be of assistance and when I had a question she made it a point to introduce me to the beer manager so we could chat.
After I made my selection and got in line I was particularly impressed by the fact that one of the checkout clerks spotted us waiting and immediately came over and asked us if we wanted to check out using his register. Nice touch.

My beer store of choice in Ann Arbor and not just because it's a 3 minute drive!
There's a great selection of beer, half or more of which is refrigerated, and the prices are very reasonable.
Large varieties of mead, belgians (lambic included), regional and local craft beer offerings can be found at the store. Refrigerated singles & select 750's are available too, but are separated from the bulk of the beer. Several types of glassware fill in the shelves and informative tags + publications (Michigan Beer Guide) are on display as well.
Overrall, a great place I would recommend to any beer lover within SE Michigan, but grab stuff while you see it because it doesn't last long!
