This place is only of note because of the lack of bottle shop options in Missoula. The store itself is really cool and worth a visit but the beer selection is very average.
There weren't any limited release beers when I was there, especially copmared to what was the Worden's just down the street. There were a couple of different bottles that Worden's didn't have, but nothing to get excited about.
The one advantage to Worden's is that there is a make your own 6 pack option, but with nothing overly interesting to pick out, I passed on this as well. Prices seemed reasonable.

Huge, airy coffee bar/wine/beer store.
Beer & wine are off to the left as you walk in. Nice, large beer selection. 5 large fridges on the wall, with a big wooden display creating a cordone from the coffee/wine section. For me, the selection, though smaller, of craft brews rivals Worden’s (further up N Higgins), and also offers different brands to Worden’s. I didn't notice any BMC stuff in the fridge here.
Good selection of PNW, UK, Belgian and other US beers. Also had a few craft beers from New Zealand, Spain & Holland. Best part of Liquid Planet is the 20% discount for buying ANY mix 6 pack...and this is also applicable if you buy 6 big bottles. I grabbed 12 bottles and promptly got my 20%, even though a few of the beers were doubled up.
There was no staff there asking if I needed help or not, but that never bothers me.

I went down to Missoula and was just killing some time, so I thought I would drop by this place. I've been to Worden's down the street a couple times, so I thought I would compare the two. It's not even a comparison. Beer is an afterthought at this place.
Quality: All of the beers looked fairly fresh for the most part. That's about all I can say.
Service: Non-existent, but I wasn't in there long; I won't hold it against them too much. This place didn't look like a beer place at all. Beer had far and away the smallest section.
Selection: Pretty bad. This store had nothing noteworthy, not even very much from the 3 breweries that call Missoula home.

From the previous review and a friend that lives in the area I thought this was gonna be a place to go. Wrong. As far as microbrew is concerned this place is a big failure. I walk in, look around, find the beer section and start checking their selection. Immediately I find bottles that I want then I realize wait they are sitting out on a shelf with a quarter inch of dust covering them. alright lets do the sediment check, failed miserablly. Almost every bottle has sediment in the bottom and oh no I'm not talking about belgian wits. I'm talking about ipas, pales, pilsners, goldens you name it. Mind you I was here on 7-19-10 and there was a can that had a best before 4-10-10.
If your interested in having any type of coffee imaginable or a top of the list wine then do stop in, but if your looking to buy craft brew don't waste your time or money.

Liquid Planet is another location in downtown Missoula to find a selection of bottled beer other than at Worden's Market. It is located on Higgins Ave a few blocks south of Worden's.
Beer is not their focus by any means as it is mostly a coffee, tea, wine store with a snack counter and some tables spread around the place to kick back. They do have about 4 small coolers of beer on the left hand side of the store.
It's been a little while since I was last up there for a visit so I don't remember the selection specifically and I'm sure that it rotates a fair amount as well. They carried the beers from the three breweries in Missoula, but you can get those basically anywhere in town, but they also had beers from Bitterroot, Elysian and some of the other breweries from the Northwest. They also had some German and Belgian selections.
They don't have as an extensive selection as Worden's but they do have a nice little selection and carry some things that were not at Worden's and vice versa. Worth stopping by to see what they have.
