This is definitely the best bottle shop in Missoula, although there isn't much competition. Selection is pretty good and included the local stuff as well as Deschutes, Alaskan and the usual suspects that get wide distribution.

Employees were very friendly and helpful with questions and prices were very reasonable.

This is a cool place overall, and I would recommend going not just for the beer but for groceries as well as they have a lot of interesting and unique grocery items. There was a deli there as well, although we didn't try anything from it.

All things considered, this was probably the best store I seen in Montana. The vibe reminded me of Madison and while the beers were not all that unique or rare, the selection was good. I picked up a few bottles of mead here as well, as they seemed to have better wine selection. Staff seemed to be college kids who were occupied with other things. Beers were both refrigerated and at room temperature, condensed into an area at the rear of the store. If I'm in this part of Montana, this will be the place I will go as it might be the best one can hope for between Spokane and Denver.

Worden's is an old school, wood floored Missoula establishment. They have a deli on the right, wine on the right, small groceries in the middle, and beer mostly in coolers on the back wall. They get the best selection in town. The only place that has a similar selection is the Good Foods store across town. Good Foods is usually a little cheaper, but Worden's is much closer to my place and has a cooler vibe and more places around it that I'm likely to find myself. They do a good job of getting seasonals in quantity. A month after their releases there is still Stoic and Alaskan Smoked Porter in the coolers. The employees are unobtrusive but helpful when asked, and do a good job of remembering regulars and styles that they enjoy.

Overall, this is a far better beer store than I had expected to find in moving here. Coming from Chicago I thought I was going to be hunting for seasonals and big bottles, but Worden's has a great selection. And it's nice not having to beat down doors to get the good stuff.

Just went to Worden's for the first time, and I was definitely impressed. Overall they have a very impressive selection of bottled beers, as well as a lot of different wines. This store is also a deli and supermarket as well, quite a one stop package.

Quality: Seemed to be pretty good. Most of the beers are in a cooler, and from what I saw were all fresh. They also had a ton of seasonals which were obviously fresh as well, being November. There was a stand of beer that was not in a cooler and a mini-fridge of singles that had a pretty impressive layer of dust, I definitely stayed away from those.

Service: Okay; we walked in and had an offer of help from one of the guys who I understand was kind of the "beer expert" of the store. Other than that nothing, but I don't mind so much.

Selection: Awesome selection. Lots of Montana microbrews, as well as a very impressive section of Belgians and some American beers that I have not seen in Montana in other stores at all. Hands down the best selection I have seen in this state.

Worden's Market has the best bottle selection in Missoula as far as I know. It is a nice little market in downtown Missoula located across from the Iron Horse Brewpub.

It is a bit of everything market with a deli where they'll make up sandwiches and a few tables up front that people often come in and grab a sandwich for lunch. There is also a little coffee bar there as well. The store has a variety of other things such as condiments, sodas, wines, beers, etc.

It has been a while since I was last up there visiting the parents, so I don't remember the selection specifically. There are probably about 6-8 coolers in the back with a wide variety of beers from around the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Of course they have stuff from the three in Missoula, Bayern, Big Sky, and Kettle House. I think they also had beers from Bitterroot, Dogfish Head, Flying Dog, Elysian, etc. They also have a selection of German beers and Belgian including Duvel, Chimay, Cantillion.

A definite must for any trip to Missoula.

Have visited Worden's several times over that past 5 years or so. Every time I visit relatives around Missoula, this place is a must stop. First of all, keep in mind, this is Montana...not California or the east coast where good beer is relatively easy to find. Every time I go into this store, I am amazed at the selection they have. They have a nice selection of local micros from Montana and the Pacific Northwest area as well as a really good selection of Belgian brews. I even found a few stouts from the Finland area that are almost impossible to find from my hometown of SF. Anyway, to give a sample of what I picked up last time...

Dogfish Red and White
Dogfish Black and Blue
Nils Oscar Imperial Stout
Port Old Viscocity
La Folie
Dogfish 90 minute
plus several oddball belgians I rarely see.

For Montana beer geeks, this is a must beer stop....the best store I have been to by far in this state. The prices are a tad high and the service is average at best...but the selection makes up for it.
