Notes/Commercial Description:
This hybrid stout is our darkest beer. Infused with nitro/CO2 blend, the cascading effect of this beer is a thing of beauty. Distinctive coffee, oatmeal & chocolate flavors dominate this staff favorite. A subtle hop finish rounds out this vision of perfection.

A: Poured a dark opaque color, with a modest size sticy beige head that was pretty persistent and left a nice lacing.

S: big coffee and chocolate with a burnt roasted malting.

T: The flavor started out with sweet roasted grains, burnt chocolate and a good dry hoppiness. There was a big astingent dark coffee bean flavor that left a lingering fade.

M: medium-fullness with a nice grainy texture, lightly carbonated and left a nice dark roasted grain lacing on the tongue.

D: Nice drinkability and good pub stout. Rich flavor.

My first trip to Stewarts and I was craving a stout on the drive up. From my notes.

A- Completely opaque black stout with cappuchino-like head with non-stop lasting power. It leaves as absolute solid white lacing on the entirety of the glass. It's certainly a beautiful beer.

S- The malts are certainly dominant with a nice burnt coffee-like sent.

T- This is good -- American Stouts tend to be too bitter for me. This is smooth with a mild bittersweet chocolate taste with some roasted espresso notes. As it warms, I can taste a little bit of spicy hops in there as well.

M- Super silky smooth, creamy and thick. Very nice.

D- I love it, exceptionally drinkable, exceptionally enjoyable. Not a whole lot negative to say about this guy.

Wow. Best looking beer I've had in a while. Dark brown with a perfectly seperated tan head. First on the tongue is the malty sweetness followed by a chocolate then roasted malt flavor- on the back end was the perfectly balanced hop finish- a yeasty tang permeated throught the myriad of flavors, my tongue was dancing. Premium stout and a very ambitious brew.

First had: on tap at their brewpub

Looked like a nitro pour, but I'm not sure. Dark black color, with slight brown tints around the edges, and a dense cap of tan foam for a head. Smelled like a stout, roasty malts, and not a whole lot else. More roast in the taste, dark malts, and some bitter coffee tones. Medium-bodied; a little bit thin for the style, but still not bad. Smooth and drinkable.

What a fine drink. Having had all the beers they were offering that night (Fri, Feb 18) save for the Wheat Porter, I wouldn't hesitate to rank this as my favorite among them. Almost drank it too quick! This mostly reminded me of Young's Double Chocolate but with a mild roasted grain, dark-roast-coffee edge to it.

Impenetrably black color. It left thick bands of lacing honestly from the very top of the glass to the very bottom. Gorgeous. Just about flawless. Picturesque.

Aromas weren't as muted as I expected considering the nitro serving. Basically a lightly bitter, creamy Cadbury milk chocolate scent.

Expecting maybe a thin, watery Guinness draught feel, I found it definitely clean and light but with a nice rounded, lightly creamy texture. No real (acrid) bitterness in the finish despite the roasty characteristics.

Well done! I could session this with wild abandon, it just gets pigeonholed as far as food pairings. Dessert, anyone?

A - Served with a pitch black body and a one finger, brown head...the head, from the nitro pour, was thick and creamy and remained throughout the entire beer...sheets of lacing were left

S - Soft, from the nitro pour...bittersweet chocolate, rolled oats, and some coffee

T - The chocolate flavors in this beer were very nice...the bittersweet chocolate provided a slight sweetness to the flavors as well as providing that bitter edge...I actually believe there were some hops helping in that bitter edge as well...the oats and grains present a nice roasted characteristic throughout the beer as well

M - Medium bodied...not too thick and definitely not too thin...great smoothness and creaminess

O - This was similar to Young's Double Chocolate Stout...although I think this version imparted more bittersweet chocolate than dark chocolate flavors...a nice stout to enjoy anytime

Sampled at the brewpub. Presented as a virtually black beverage with beautiful creammy tannish head. A nitro-tap really does great things to the appearance of a beer. The coating that was left on the side of the galls was a great sight to behold. Smell is interesting and enjoyable, being predominately roasted malts and strong notes of coffee and chocolate.Taste was also nice with the roasted mald in the foreground and some hoppy bitterness coming through in the back. Finish was dark and roasty with the bitterness leaving a pleasnt taste in the mouth. An excellent example of this style of beer.

My first trip to the Stewart's brewpub and this beer did not disappoint. Poured beautiful dark brown color with a nice finger width head that lasted throughout and left a nice lacing on the glass. The taste was not overly complex, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless. And, at $2.75 for a pint during happy hour, it was one of the best beer value's ever. I'm definitely interested in going back there to try some of their other offerings.
