A 10 oz tulip glass served at the brewpub. My timing is impeccable, as this beer was apparently just released yesterday. This ale is listed as a Belgian Pale Ale but I am reviewing it as a Tripel.

A: The ale is a golden yellow color, reasonably translucent save for some haziness due to the color temperature. Little head adorns the ale although it clearly is carbonated.

S: The nose is spicy, with candi sugar and honey featured prominently.

T: The taste is as sweet as the honey in the nose suggested. The sweetness has pale candi sugars, honey and a great deal of pale fruits. The alcohol is not evident, which is troubling because it is formidable. The yeast adds a distinct flavor, not quite tart but not quite sweet, but definitely Belgian. An interesting beer.

M: The sweetness of the body is what makes this enjoyable, the interaction of the candi sugars, fruits and yeast is lacking only some peppery zest to make it zing.

D: Stewart's limits you to three 10 oz. servings and that is more than enough.

From a growler. Clear golden body beneath a short head of bright white that slowly drops to an average collar. Some thin splashes and tiny spots of lace are left behind. Tiny bubbles steadily rise but aren't enough to replenish the head (perhaps some carbonation was lost due to the growler). The nose is spicy and gently phenolic over a thin, candyish malt. A touch of alcohol is present, but it's not out of line for the style. Smells like they're using the Chimay strain from White Labs (WLP550), and the taste confirms that. It's lightly sweet, kind of candyish with a note of vanilla, and fruity with some citrusy/tropical fruit. A bold bitterness and some black-pepper spiciness from the yeast dry it, and it finishes with a light mist of alcohol and some residual yeastiness.

Enjoyed this one on a lunch time visit. It came to me in a tulip glass. Fairly clear golden color with about two and a half fingers of bright white bubbles. The aroma was sweet and spicy. Sugars and pepper, with just a touch of yeast. The taste was fruity sweet with a nice peppery hop bite. The yeast gives it a different flavor, but one that I enjoyed. Alcohol is slightly present in the flavor. Mouthfeel was crisp and bubbly. Pretty damn drinkable, but be careful of the abv.

My favorite Stewart's beer.

A-Pours a very clear honey gold with a very thin white head.

S-Very inviting nose. Lots of banana and clove with a bit of pepper in the background.

T-A bit sweet throughout with a pronounced amount of candi sugar. Also a bit fruity. The alcohol is well hidden.

M-Very light with light to moderate carbonation.

D-Very nicely drinkable with little noticeable alcohol.

Quite tasty.

Review from notes. Had on tap at the Pickled Pig.

A: Pours a clear golden color with a small white head on top. Decent retention, eventually remaining as a very thin cap.

S: A good bit of fruit, some apple, pear, and banana as well as some spice and candied sugar.

T: Fruit and sweet. Some green apple and more pear with a little bit of honey and some biscuity malt. Slight Belgian spice flavor.

M: Medium bodied, extremely smooth and easy drinking at 9.2%.

O: Very enjoyable. Would be something I would order if it was on when I go to Stewarts.

Enjoyed two tulips of this one while visiting the in laws.
Arrived a beautiful golden color with a full finger and a half of bright white head...which stuck around for a few minutes and then just settled to almost nothing.
Mild in the nose...candied sugar, belgian yeast and mild spice pulls you in.
The taste is where this offering takes off...fantastic balance with no hint of the 9+ abv...gotta love that.
Not hugely spiced, but the candied sugar really coats the pallet and the subtle bitterness allows it to finish very clean and semi-dry.
Dried fruits (grapes, cherries) go over well for this one.
Mouthfeel is a tad thin, but the carbonation is divine and goes down super smooth...very dangerous.
Sampled a few other brews, but this one would occupy me for the duration of my visit if available.
Although...the Stout is nice too...hmmm.

My second trip to the Stewart's Brew Pub -- I was excited to see the Stumblin' Monk available as I'd heard good things about it, and I'm always looking for a new Trippel.

A- Came out in a pretty little tulip with beautiful clarity, a rich golden color, and a nice two-and-a-half finger head.

S- Fruits -- Smells of peaches, very light for a Trippel with a clean slightly peppery hop smell.

T - Very clean flavor -- Fruity - a bit lighter than expected for the style. As it warms, the hop's pepperines becomes more pronounced and an underlying alchohol comes forward. It's still light for the alcohol that's there.

M - Slightly syrupy, but not bad.

D - I was curious about it as a summer beer, but It's good and quite drinkable.

Much thanks to sckressler for grabbing this one and popping open...
Appears a transparent light gold with a small white cap that slowly fades out into a small white cap. Mild lacing is left around the glass. Small amounts of CO2 rise to the top.
Smell is of pils malt, candy sugar, and mild spice.
Taste is of a candy sweetness, vanilla cream, light caramel, citrus, tropical fruit, and Belgian yeast.
Mouthfeel is sugary, smooth, citrusy, and candy-esque.
I've been dying to get at this beer for a while.
Fuhgetaboudit...this brew is awesome.
