Big shop, but of the 4 beer stores I hit in Vancouver, this was the only one I didn't purchase anything from.

The dry-storage area is questionable at best - TONS of that famous Vancouver sunlight drenching all of the beer. The cooler is a different story - dark and cold - lots of the standards you'll see across town but lacking in any sort of belgian rarities and Driftwood excitement.

Underwhelming

So, the staff at Firefly are very helpful, yet leave you alone to browse as long as you like without pressure. Lundy (you can spot her by the multi-coloured hair) is especially knowledgeable and treats her customers very well. It's a classy store, but the awesome staff give it an unpretentious feel.

The beer is in two locations. A large row of shelves at room temperature, and a massive walk-in cooler. Most of the room-temp beer can be found in the cooler as well giving customers the option of not picking up chilled beer if the intention is to hang on to it for a while before chilling and consuming.

Great selection of beer from BC as well as the rest of Canada, especially Quebec. Plenty of Belgians and lots of beers that are only available in a few stores in the city. Decent number of US micro-brews as well (some reasonably priced, some outrageous). Selection is on par with what is widely considered "the best" store in BC and similar premium prices.

#1 store in the province, imo.

Firefly Fine Wine and Ales is one of the better beer and wine stores in Vancouver. The store itself is always very clean, but I find that the staff is a bit temperamental and can be stand-offish.

The store itself has a good selection of British Columbian and Belgian offerings, however, this is the priciest store of its kind in the Lower Mainland. I use it as a place to go to find certain beers I cannot find elsewhere, such as Central City Beer and Wine Store; which is much more reasonable price wise.

Not as good a selection as Brewer Creek, but still worth picking up some different choices. A large cooler room. Prices on average were higher than Brewery Creek, noticeably consistent in this regard. Some high quality stuff. Service was OK, one guy sort of knew his beer, but a couple of leagues below Brewery Creek. Fancily laid out store. Worth coming here after getting what is available elsewhere, for topping up. Also I prefer brews frm the shelves so they do not go from cold to hot and then back to the fridge.

So Firefly is one of my go to stores when i'm in Vancouver. They almost always have Cantillon, they have a great selection of Driftwood Brewing, Phillips and Red Racer. I find that all of the harder to find Canadian and Belgium beers that we don't get are all avaliable at this location.

I find the service fantastic, they generally have a good idea of what we do and don't get down in Seattle and are always happy to help with suggestions and have pretty much tried all of the new beers and can provide great feedback and on whats great.

They have a little bit of glassware though nothing all that hard to find.

The best part is that almost all the beer is stored in their giant beer walk in so its all properly stored and is not exposed to outside light.

All in all one of the best 3 stores in Vancouver if your looking for a big craft selection with lots of things that aren't avaliable in WA.

Atmosphere is a bit quiet and you are often not confronted or welcomed by an employee. They do have tastings and if you happen to enter the store at that time, you would get a much better first impression.

Quality of product is fantastic. You can tell that they have done their research and their buyers love great beer and wine.

Service can be hit or miss. You pretty much have to approach the employees with a question, they do not approach you. When you do spark up conversation, they really know their stuff and I have been impressed on several occasions.

Second or third best selection in Vancouver! Quite good, in-stock conditions are solid and dependable. I also hear they are expanding, so look forward to that.

No Food.

A bit pricey. No discount program and the beer is expensive.
Overall value is Good. You can get great beer dependably, great service if you ask for it, and decent atmosphere.

This place is my go-to. It's in a very central location, right by a train, so it's easy if you don't have a car.

Inside, the selection is great and they have tons of locals and imports. If something neat makes it's way into Vancouver, chances are that Firefly will have it. If not, Brewery Creek is just a few blocks away. Although some things sell out quickly, there is always something on hand to satisfy a craving.
There is a huge walk in cooler whos walls are lined in beer from all over the world.

The service is great and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.

A view of city hall from their front door, and now along the subway... pretty decent local.

Plenty of refrigerated space, with a huge, walk-in cold room. Very impressive. I don't know why more places don't do this!

Lot's of BC locals, with a good selection of other stuff. It's great that it's mostly refrigerated. Brewery creek is so close, that I never actually made it over here, but it's worth a visit. It doesn't seem to be as well-known, or cleaned out quite as fast.

Although there's plenty of wine, the staff knew beer & were ready to discuss it.

One of the best BC signature liquor stores is just up the street.

This a great little cold beer and wine shop near City Square @ 12th and Cambie(ish). It's very nicely decorated and modern inside but the real treasure of the place is the beer fridge.

A friendly staff greet you at the door and guides you to their impressively large walk-in beer fridge which holds quite an inspiring array of beers from around the world with a good selection of local, hard-to-find stuff as well.

Their prices are a tad high but the selection makes up for it.

I definitely reccomend that all BAs in the area to seek this place out - you're likely to be pleasantly surprised.

This is a new beer and wine store attached to the hotel on 12th and Cambie. The store is fairly big with all the beer in a walk-in cold room. Within the room the beer is arranged by tastes such as hoppy/ fruity etc. There is a lot of hard to find beers here such as Swans/Central City/ Golden Carolus/ Mission Springs/Rogue/ Flying Dog/Paddock Wood/Pyramind Imperial Hefe. The selection is on par with Brewery Creek with some beers different between the two. Price wise it is comparable to Brewery Creek though with the VIP program you save 10% on each order. Parking is hard to find though you can leave it with the valet for free while you shop(Hotel parking next door). The staff is very friendly though they lack the knowledge of someone like Gerry at Brewery Creek. All in all one the premier Beer Stores in Vancouver
