A cheerful yellow color, and quite cloudy. Pours a very nice, almost marshmellowing froth on top, which hangs around just long enough. Smell is light and sweet, as is the taste. There's enough citrus flavor here to make the lemon really optional. I'll admit, I havn't tried a lot of Hefe's, but I enjoyed this one quite a bit more than most of the similar American beers out there.

This is one of those rare beers I'd dare to come right out and call 'refreshing.' I think I could drink this stuff all day.

My favorite Hefe-Weizen!

I've tried this many times on tap at the Huettenbar in Chicago, but have not seen it in bottles until my trip to Meyer Delicatessen just up the street from the Huettenbar.

Pours a light amber with quite a hazy body. The head is substantial and rocky. Some lacing in the glass.

Smell is light clove, bread, and green bananas.

The taste is just smooth and refreshing to me. Everything I like in a wheat beer. A light banana flavor with some clove to give it a nice balance. Nice and round with some hints of bubblegum. Lovely!

Mouthfeel is damn near perfect. Smooth, soft, and supple!

Give me this on any hot day!

A - Hazy straw with a little orange tint. One finger of white head and awesome lacing

S - Wheat and lemon peel

T - More malt then expected from the nose. Wheat with a little sweetness. Pretty smooth tasting

M - Medium body with high carbonation

D - pretty good but better to be had everywhere

Poured from a 16 oz bottle into a weizen glass. The look of this Weizen was excellent. Golden yellow body which was pretty clear for a Hefe, though still cloudy, with a magnificent head which didn't quit. Great look, but that is where the positives ended.

I will say this, there was no date on the bottle, and I know freshness is key with Hefes so if I ever get the chance to try this beer again with guaranteed freshness I will give it another go, but rateing by my sample it was nothing special... in fact it was downright poor.

The scent was almost non existent. The flavor was a bit spicier than most Hefes, which was good, but the taste overall seemed washed out and almost watered down. Almost no banana flavor... it seemed like a watered down Weizen plain and simple. Had a bready aftertaste.

16 oz bottle poured into a weizen glass.
*Best before August 11, 2007. I'm drinking this almost a year after this date.

Pours a cloudy yellow almost light amber color with a two finger white head with solid retention and minimal lacing. Aromas of fruity yeast, wheat and citrus. Lots of up front malt flavor gives way to light banana and clove, sweet orange with a caramel finish with a hint of coconut. Low carbonation, light body, has a watery mouthfeel. Very easy to drink but not much to it. I'm looking forward to finding this again and trying before the freshness date to see the difference.

Poured a cloudy yellow color with a frothy head that stuck around. Aroma was quite malty with notes of clove, spices, bubblegum and bread yeast in the nose. Taste was fruity with a refreshing mix of baked bread, yeast, clove, banana and apple. This is a medium bodied brew that is fairly easy to drink. I couldn't handle more than one of these though. The spicy flavor becomes too much after a while. But it's still a good summer beer.

16oz bottle

Apperance: Great white head that is foamy to the max and sticks around to the max. The color is a clear golden yellow, although I have not added the yeast from the bottom of the bottle. Wow, great foamy head! Nice lacing.

Nose: Earth, grass, wheat, yeast, freshly baked crackers.

Taste: A lot of the same hefe characteristics, wheat, lemon, a little butter. This is what i want from a hefe. Not too bitter. In fact, it's only bitter in the middle of the taste, very nice entrance and exit.

Notes: I just added the yeast and it really clouded things up. Ive never done that before. The yeast really makes a change. The nose and taste have not been too effected by this addition, anly adding some fruity characteristics. It also added a bite.

This beer is all about value. It's not the best Hefe out there, as a poster before me stated. It is, however, the best Hefe you're going to find at the price you can find J.E. for. It's everything a Hefe should be. Cloudy, spicy, fruity (with a little bite), but very smooth and a little creamy. Despite the creaminess, it finish clean and doesn't leave much aftertaste. Get some, this beer is recession proof.

Purchased as a single at the Wine Seller, Herndon, VA.

A - Gorgeous cloudy golden-orange with a rich, white creamy head. Not much lacing.

S - Nutmeg.

T - Slight wheat and banana mixed with some nutmeg and even a trace of dried herbs. Splendid!

M - Darn near perfection for the style with a perfect carbonation and creaminess that's both satisfying and refreshing.

D - I could drink this all summer long with no problem, with or without food.

A - golden and cloudy. massive 3 finger pearl white crown w/ sexy lacing in my weizen glass.

S - soft and moist banana bread w/ some clove and hints of lemon. mostly yeast in the nose w/ no real trace of hops.

T - wheat, overrippened bananas, bubblegum and slightly off-putting metalic tang. could this be an old bottle?? not bad, but not great.

MF - perfect! soft carb. medium body and a full and creamy feel.

D - easy summer sipper, scratch that, slammer! unfortunately the wierd off-putting flavor I mentioned takes a notch off. get rid of this metallic thing, and this beer is near perfect for style. ( i will buy a bottle from a different store and revise my review)

This was 1.57 at my local stop. For a buck and a half you can't go wrong.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a good 2 fingers of fluffy off white head. Lacing is good, retention isn't bad either.

Smells of wheat, light spice, and a very mild lemon.

Taste is wonderful. Smooth and very zesty. Lemon is light with clove, banana and wheat. Very balanced with a nice spice and sweetness.

Mouthfeel is very light bodied and crisp, carbonated but not overly so.

Drinkability is amazing, this is hands down the best hefe I've ever had.

A dense, delicious-looking, creamy white head piles up and piles up, holding its shape past the rim of the glass as I pour in the hazy tangerine beer. That smell--I know it now--it's the smell of grass cuttings piled on the lawn that have started to ferment already in the heat. And it's oddly sweet yet musty.

Bitterness leaps on the tongue up front, as the mouth fills with creamy, tart bubbles. The sourness lingers, fading to a vaguely orangey taste.

This is freaking me out, though. Either there's some spell in this stuff, or it's so hot, I'll drink anything. I can't say it tastes good to me, but it tastes like it's good for me.

This beer is a classic to me. One of the ones I started with years ago. $2.99 a pint-hard to beat.

Tastes like it has around 6-7% even though it is listed at 4.9%.

Appearance was nice-creamy, light tan head. Nice retention. Outstanding aroma-very inviting with pear, banana and clove. Very robust smell. Tastes like the smell, clove, coriander, pear, banana and apple. It has a nice spicey touch to back up the fruit profile.

Hazy golden to copper with a mountainous four fingers of snow white creamy foam that doesn’t easily die. Aromas of soft citrus, unripe bananas, sour yeast notes, and faint malt tones. Nice earthy to nutty character in the wheat, banana, vanilla, yeasty tartness is moderate and folds in well with a dry bitterness towards the end. Light body, mouthfeel starts off with big carbonation but dies to a smoothness. Tartness and lemony citrus in the finish. This Hefe is subtle but pretty good.
