A - golden and cloudy. massive 3 finger pearl white crown w/ sexy lacing in my weizen glass.

S - soft and moist banana bread w/ some clove and hints of lemon. mostly yeast in the nose w/ no real trace of hops.

T - wheat, overrippened bananas, bubblegum and slightly off-putting metalic tang. could this be an old bottle?? not bad, but not great.

MF - perfect! soft carb. medium body and a full and creamy feel.

D - easy summer sipper, scratch that, slammer! unfortunately the wierd off-putting flavor I mentioned takes a notch off. get rid of this metallic thing, and this beer is near perfect for style. ( i will buy a bottle from a different store and revise my review)

This was 1.57 at my local stop. For a buck and a half you can't go wrong.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a good 2 fingers of fluffy off white head. Lacing is good, retention isn't bad either.

Smells of wheat, light spice, and a very mild lemon.

Taste is wonderful. Smooth and very zesty. Lemon is light with clove, banana and wheat. Very balanced with a nice spice and sweetness.

Mouthfeel is very light bodied and crisp, carbonated but not overly so.

Drinkability is amazing, this is hands down the best hefe I've ever had.

A dense, delicious-looking, creamy white head piles up and piles up, holding its shape past the rim of the glass as I pour in the hazy tangerine beer. That smell--I know it now--it's the smell of grass cuttings piled on the lawn that have started to ferment already in the heat. And it's oddly sweet yet musty.

Bitterness leaps on the tongue up front, as the mouth fills with creamy, tart bubbles. The sourness lingers, fading to a vaguely orangey taste.

This is freaking me out, though. Either there's some spell in this stuff, or it's so hot, I'll drink anything. I can't say it tastes good to me, but it tastes like it's good for me.

This beer is a classic to me. One of the ones I started with years ago. $2.99 a pint-hard to beat.

Tastes like it has around 6-7% even though it is listed at 4.9%.

Appearance was nice-creamy, light tan head. Nice retention. Outstanding aroma-very inviting with pear, banana and clove. Very robust smell. Tastes like the smell, clove, coriander, pear, banana and apple. It has a nice spicey touch to back up the fruit profile.

Hazy golden to copper with a mountainous four fingers of snow white creamy foam that doesn’t easily die. Aromas of soft citrus, unripe bananas, sour yeast notes, and faint malt tones. Nice earthy to nutty character in the wheat, banana, vanilla, yeasty tartness is moderate and folds in well with a dry bitterness towards the end. Light body, mouthfeel starts off with big carbonation but dies to a smoothness. Tartness and lemony citrus in the finish. This Hefe is subtle but pretty good.

500 ml bottle into a snifter...pours a cloudy straw yellow with a huge head that just keeps coming and coming. Excellent. Deep yeast funk and plenty of sharpness from the wheat mash, balanced by soft but crisp hops.

Taste is excellent. What a great beer. Sharp. Refreshing. Clean. Funky. It has everything you would expect from a classic of this style.

Mouthfeel is perfect. Simply perfect. Crisp like a blade, goes down easy and wakes you up.

Overall, it's hard to mess with the best of the Germans when it comes to the wheat mash. Monster. Monster mash. Awesome brew, highly recommended.

16oz bottle

Apperance: Great white head that is foamy to the max and sticks around to the max. The color is a clear golden yellow, although I have not added the yeast from the bottom of the bottle. Wow, great foamy head! Nice lacing.

Nose: Earth, grass, wheat, yeast, freshly baked crackers.

Taste: A lot of the same hefe characteristics, wheat, lemon, a little butter. This is what i want from a hefe. Not too bitter. In fact, it's only bitter in the middle of the taste, very nice entrance and exit.

Notes: I just added the yeast and it really clouded things up. Ive never done that before. The yeast really makes a change. The nose and taste have not been too effected by this addition, anly adding some fruity characteristics. It also added a bite.

I had spent the past 2 hrs walking through the sweltering heat of Brooklyn. This was absolutely the thing to replenish my lost fluids (or so the doctor tells me).

Pours a couldy goldish with an immense head. A bit maltier than most hefe's that i've had, but i enjoy a malty brew. Strong essence of cloves - orange predominates the fruit flavors, of course a hint of lemon in there as well. The aftertaste of this beer was phenomenal - can't really pinpoint what it was, but wow, whatever stuck with me after each sip was great.

A great beer - still think Weih... is the best, but this was damn good.

Served at a local beer tasting event from a bottle with an expiration date of Aug, 2010.

A: Pale yellow, cloudy color. Thick creamy head produces some nice lacing.

S: Banana and cloves -- what I would expect from this style.

T: Follows the aroma. Nice fruity banana flavor.

M: Creamy and smooth in the mouth, light-bodied, well carbonated.

D: Very easy to drink with a low alcohol makes it a great beer to have on a hot summer day, or as a session beer.

Pours a cloudy copper gold with a fluffy head.

There is a doughy yeasty aroma that mingles with a robust fruit element.

A cider flavor mingles with yeast and citrus to create a unique taste that is unlike any other weisse I have ever had.

Thin and infinitely drinkable. There is a reason why the Germans call these breakfast beers--they are light, smooth and very refreshing and easy to drink.

I like this beer alot and cannot wait to try to Dunkel.

A: Cloudy gold hue that creates a ridiculous large, white fluffy head. Head retention is quite remarkable and leaves an abundance of lacing. A sight to behold.

S: Mild clove and yeast in addition to some banana and mild spice.

T: Banana and clove dominate the taste. Some spicy citrus characteristics as well. Finishes abrupt and relatively dry.

M: Not as creamy as it appears, but creamy nonetheless. The abrupt and nearly non-existent finish leads me to believe there are little to no hops present in this one. Well carbonated, though that isn't a surprise considering most Hefes are moderate to highly carbonated.

D: A good, sessionable brew that is really exact in the hefeweizen style. Just like witbiers, hefeweizens are highly mimicked, and usually seem to be very similar from one to another. This one stands out just a bit more in it's near perfection.

A very nice Hefe-weizen on tap at the Ginger Man and served in the traditional Hefe glass. It poured a cloudy light gold with a large, long-lasting head. The lacing was thick all the way down the glass. The aroma was a mix of wheat, clove, and citrus with a hint of the yeast. The taste is typically wheaty almost bready with a hint of several spices, including clove and some fruitiness. There is the usual hint of citrus as well. Right at the end there is the slight hit of bitter hops.

The beer is full-bodied with a nice level of carbonation. This is so creamy that it goes down really nice. It was superb to the last drop, and I will be looking for another one.

Here it is... an awesome session beer if I ever tasted one. Served to me in a 20 oz. Echter glass at Anam Cara about a month ago. Fluffy white head, gentle banana, spice and citrus aromas. Taste reveals some of the same, but much less banana than many Hefes. This is a feature I like in Hefes, as I don't like to be overwhelmed by banana flavor, but a hint is OK. Here, I pick up some nice citrus and even very subtle tropical fruit, like pineapple, along with some vanilla. The mouthfeel is luscious, fuller than many Hefeweizens, and the finish is so crisp and clean and refreshing. I could seriously drink this all night, and one night before the weather goes south, I think I just might. I tried this again from the bottle just a few days ago, and I found the beer to be almost exactly the same.

I've said this before -- I've never been a huge hefe fan, but a handful of them are making me see the light. I find alot of similarities between this and another kick-ass Hefe, the Brooklyn Weiss.

Appearance - Light honey color and solid throughout but not super cloudy. Unfilitered juice quality and tinges of meringue in head.

Aroma - Subtly sour but otherwise quite light smell.

Taste - Classic hefe flavor with fruit citrus some sourness, and spike of honey sweetness with floral hop finish. Quite dry on the follow-through.

Mouthfeel - Nicely corbanated with full initial foaminess that fills mouth and carries flavors.

Very enjoyable and highly drinkable. As said before a nice classic hefe.
