Pours an opaque straw color with obvious carbonation and a big fluffy head that settles only somewhat.

Nose is incredible, banana, LOTS os spice esters, lemon rind and some fresh baked bread. Smells delicious.

Taste is lightly sweet up front with a CO2 whallop, flavor is banana and clove spiciness with some lemony zest. Touch of bitterness on the end, just barely. Tastes great and refreshes!

Mouthfeel is spot-on for the style. Light, slightly sweet-ish up front, cleans itself off with the CO2. Excellent brew, easily session-worthy, and excellent for a spring day just after getting home from work. Would also be terrific in the morning with some Weisswurst.

Overall another great Weissbier from Julius Echter. They make probably the best available in my area; this stuff is great. (799 characters)

One of my first ever hefes, so my review is a tad simple but anyway..."A good golden-orange german beer that is very drinkable. Good taste and an absolutely GORGEOUS head..., not a bad brew at all! " the price is also quite good, under 3 bucks for a bottle! (257 characters)

Poured into weizen glass.

Pours clouded golden with a towering head that slowly descends to a rocky head, then eventually settles to a lasting cover.

The smell is of banana, mint and hints of toffee.

The taste is banana with a toffee and cherry-like sweetness. Sweetness balanced by wheat crispness. Very smooth, tasty and refreshing.

The feel is light, smooth and refreshingly dry with a very nice texture.

More than a typical banana/clove HW. Unique but clearly in-style. One of the best of style that I've had. (528 characters)

Pours cloudy pale gold with a traditional egg-white three finger foam collar. This looks just dandy!

Nose is Bavarian banana combined with Topps trading card bubblegum. This is one wonderful yeast strain.

Entry is wiezen-smooth leading to a sweet, citrus/spicy midtaste which seems miles away from its American counterparts. The finish is banana heavy with a nice clove counterpoint.

This brew is now my new go-to hefe-weisse when weaning folks away from timid American counterparts... (495 characters)

Poured a hazy dirty pale orange color, with a nice white head that dissipated to a small cap that left some spot lacing. The smell is of clove, a bit buttery, not very distinct a bit disappointing. The taste doesn't blow me away either. It has a creamy clove taste, tones of bubblegum, no detectable banana taste. The mouthfeel is typical hefe, creamy, smooth, a bit more carbonated than others. This is a very drinkable hefe just not the best that I have had. (460 characters)

This is a really nice, clean, crisp beer. Great head on the pour. Smells of wheat and sour banana. Maybe some type of cherry or plum mixed in as well. Medium bodied, pours a clean strawberry color. Many can be drank in 1 session. Great summer brew although I'm drinking it in December. Beautiful lacing down the glass and a classic wurzburger beer. (348 characters)

This was an unfiltered golden hued weisse presented in a large euro style bottle. The haze remains long after the pour. Large foamy head

It smelled soft and fruity, not overwhelming smell but I would definetly not say there were "hints" of anyhting.

It tasted how a weisse should taste. No bitter hops taste, soft but with enough body to retain the taste of the yeast in your mouth long after finishing. Incredibly drinkable, but meant to be enjoyed (456 characters)

Been looking for this one since I enjoyed the Echter Dunkel Weiss last month. Pours a cloudy golden color with small chunks of sediment in the body.Head and lacing are light, fluffy, and sticky, as well as being copious. Nose is somewhat more muted than I was hoping for. Traditional banana and clove are there, but also a tart citrus to match the sweet sugar and light wheat tones.

Big wheat flavor and very refreshing. Mouthfeel is a little bubbly for me but not a huge drawback. Finishes very clean for a hefe with little residual aftertaste, which is good and bad. Not quite up there with the Ayinger and Weihenstephaner offerings but not a total disappointment either. (677 characters)

Pours a cloudy orange with fluffy and thick white head that becomes lumpy after left for a while. Thin lees left behind on bottom of bottle.

Smells of ripe yellow pear with a hint of mango yeast.

Chewy pear jumps right onto your tongue, so much citrus going on here. Spicy yeast flavor accompanied by orange, lemon, and grapefruit.

A great hefeweizen and one of my all time favorites. I can drink this beer on any occasion. A must try. (445 characters)

Pours a cloudy golden orange into a weizen glass. Comes with an off-white head that won't quit, solid lacing throughout.

Fruity yeast aromas are dominant with wheat like malt aromas in the background.

Sweet and clean taste from the yeast, but of a "citrusy" sour taste. Light clove taste is also available.

Light carbonation with a medium body, although it has a thick consistency.

A decent hefe-weizen. Be sure not to turn this one down. (451 characters)

This was poured from a tap. Left a large classic h-w head, that had good retention, and left some slight lacing. Body was a cloudy pale yellow. Looks almost perfect.

Smell - cloves, bananas, creamy wheat, all filling the nose, and very mouthwatering.

Taste - same as the smell. Very fully robust, and yet mellow at the same time, tastes of cloves, bananas, and creamy wheat. Very straightfoward and solid, a spicy, fruity (banana-y), creamy h-w all the way. Love it.

Mouthfeel - full, and creamy.

Drinkability - this is good, goes down well, and is very sessionable. Most satisfying on a very hot day. (614 characters)

I had spent the past 2 hrs walking through the sweltering heat of Brooklyn. This was absolutely the thing to replenish my lost fluids (or so the doctor tells me).

Pours a couldy goldish with an immense head. A bit maltier than most hefe's that i've had, but i enjoy a malty brew. Strong essence of cloves - orange predominates the fruit flavors, of course a hint of lemon in there as well. The aftertaste of this beer was phenomenal - can't really pinpoint what it was, but wow, whatever stuck with me after each sip was great.

A great beer - still think Weih... is the best, but this was damn good. (607 characters)

Poured a cloudy yellow color with a frothy head that stuck around. Aroma was quite malty with notes of clove, spices, bubblegum and bread yeast in the nose. Taste was fruity with a refreshing mix of baked bread, yeast, clove, banana and apple. This is a medium bodied brew that is fairly easy to drink. I couldn't handle more than one of these though. The spicy flavor becomes too much after a while. But it's still a good summer beer. (435 characters)

A - Very nice pour. Pale yellow color, cloudy and with a slight orange hue. Frothy white head, and insane amount of lacing trails all over the glass.

S - Bready malts/clove/citrus/alcohol.

T - Taste upfront is strong malty tones and sweet grasping wheat. Followed closely by undertones of cloves, yeast, light citrus, and banana. Quite well balanced. Aftertaste is non-chalant and soothing on the palate.

M&D - Medium bodied, well carbonated, and light on the palate. Great drinkability.

An excellent Hefe, and one I will be revisiting soon. (553 characters)

This weizen pours a pale golden color with a tall white head that laces and retains quite well.
The aroma is of yeast, a bit of citrus and has a slight graininess.
The flavor is mostly of lemon citrus and a bit of pepper. The wheat and yeast are there, though they seem to take the back seat.
The mouth feel is light in body and it seems to go down easy. (357 characters)

Poured from a large .5L bottle to a tall swirl hefe glass. The head slowly rises up to a very thick & creamy tall cloud of sweet fluff. just off white with huge bubbles and massive staying power. It is several minutes before I can complete the pour. The liquid is a cloudy light straw color with faint amber hues.

Smell is of soft fruity yeast.

Taste is classic hefe. Loads of tradition here folks. Love it or leave it, it is what it is. A real smooth creamy malt and bread taste with hints of nuts, spice and a very small banana note. If you are not real big on the banana taste this one is work a try.

Mouthfeel is warm and cozy, the beer oozes Gemütlichkeit. With every sip I can here the band at the Hofbrau playing 'Muss I Denn'

Drinkability is very good. At the Hofbrau they serve it by the liter for some very good reasons. You buy it by the liter for good ones also. I hate to wait with an empty glass.

Smell. Mmmm, a nice sweet banana aroma with crushed cloves. Smells incredibly good here.

Taste. A bit tart. Lots of citris fruitiness. Lots of cloves. Taste is heavier than the aroma would have it appear to be. it's very nice. aftertaste is just slightly bitter and tart with yeasty taste to it.

Mouthfeel is good. very good balance. nice medium body.

A: Pours a golden yellowish color with a frothy 2 finger white head that looks like a cloud. Tons of fizzy bubbles comeing up from the bottom of the glass. Wonderful lace clings to the side of the glass.
S: Aromas of phenol and bananas hit the nose first with a sweet fresh yeasty smell that tickles the nostrils.
T & M: Tastes of bananas with citric notes hit the palate first. Velvety mouthfeel that reminds me of waking up on satin sheets. Good and smooth with a semi dry finish and aftertaste. Nice medium bodied bavarian ale.
D: A very drinkable beer thats refreshing and great tasting. Definately could have a few of these, especially on a warm day. (659 characters)

Poured into a hefe weizen glass and received a foamy, creamy head. The head was big, I had to wait around for it to chill so I could pour the rest, so pour this one verrry slowly. Color was a straw-yellow with slight haze, and abundant bubbles rushed up the glass.

Pronounced wheat/yeast aroma notes front and center, with citrus smells hidden in the back.

Tasted of a balanced combo of banana, wheat and yeast, all mingling in a delicious balance. Coriander and overripe warm apricot far in the background. I enjoyed the flavors, but found it to be like quite a few other German beers of this style. Nothing outstanding, but definitely par for the course (and that's a good thing).

Mouthfeel was more watery than expected (or desired), but still delivered acceptable slickness.

This is a solid and worthy representative of the classic German hefe weizen. Looking forward to trying the Dunkel version. (913 characters)

Surprisingly good! I usually shun the filtered wheat beers because they usually filter out flavors and textures along with the wheat and yeast haze. They sacrificed nothing clearing this one up. Crystal clear straw color with fine carbonation and bleached white head retention. Smells wheat-ey and estery with a crisp, clean aroma that is more found in german pilsners. Flavors are fruity, malty, estery, clove-ey, banannas and bubble gum. All of what I'd expect from great Weissbiers. Texture is clean and crisp with a mild green-apple, mint finish. Not as creamy and viscous as non-filtered wheats, but cleaner and crisper. Good choice for the upcomming hot days. (665 characters)

What a German Hefe should look like. Nice cloudy orange with a big thick 2 finger pearl white head and highly carbonated lacing.

Grilled banana aromas, cream of wheat on the stove top.

Nothing out of the ordinary taste wise. Very solid performer. Banana, tapioca pudding, wheat, slightly smokey finish. Creamy, and refreshing mouthfeel with a decent finish. (363 characters)

I had to go to the BA site to find out this one has 4.9% ABV. It's not on the label.
Poured into a tall narrow glass (I don't know the real term, as this one doesn't exactly fit the site'sglassware profile) that did the job.
The brew is a hazy, cloudy banana gold colour, that was opaque enough to block viewing through the beer. The thick creamy head lingered for a good while, and produced very pretty lacing. Good carbonation, with active bubbles throughout the quaff.
Smells of citrus, with yeasty/bread notes.
Taste is exactly like a Weiss should! Tart, with a bit of acidic citrus, a hops aftertaste that is quite pleasant. Dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Good. Big flavour, medium body, well balanced.
This is a good brew to have with lunch, rather than say, watching the game, or have at a bbq.
Love it. Definitely a keeper. (830 characters)

Pours out a hazy lemon cough drop color with a huge, rocky, pillowy head that crowns over the rim of my weizen glass. Yeast dominates in the nose with a faint wheatiness. Has an odd smell of rubber bands to it that kind of kills it for me. Heavy banana flavors, and overall, the yeast runs this show. I love phenolic weissbier, but this was just a bit much. Some cracker-like wheat shows up in the background. Mouthfeel has the right amount of carbonation, and has that wheat fluffiness I so love. Moderately drinkable. A pretty hefty weizen. (542 characters)
