Pours a dark cloudy golden yellowish orange color with some light burnt orange hues when held to a light source and a two finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Minimal lacing.

Citrus aroma with hints of orange and lemon peel as well as some subtle clove spiciness and ripe banana. Hints of bready yeast and subtle hops.

Medium body with a very nice balance of citrus peel, banana, bready yeast and spicy clove. Very quaffable with a lot of lemon flavor and peppery zest with a prominent clove presence.

A: A nice hazy yellow gold with a thick white head that stands on top of the beer. Tons of carbonation in the glass.

S: Bready and yeasty with some banana and citrus notes. No off aromas here, very clean.

T: A smooth sweet bready flavor with some fruity/banana, clove and citrus flavors.

M: Nice high carbonation give it a little kick.

D: A very refreshing beer that I could drink a ton of.

Qualifications: Best drank on a warm day with lemon wedge.

This is one of my all-time favorite beers. Taking a sip transports me back to Munich, Germany and some of the beer gardens I visited. Reliable, good German beer. The beer is light, but not overly light with some complexity. The lemon accentuates the slight bitterness. Enjoy.

Another hefeweizen to cross off my list. On to the beer:

Pour a little out of the bottle, and get a lot of foam. Eventually, it looks picture perfect with a big triple digit thick head which eventually dwindles away on top a body of cloudy darker yellow, Very spicy aroma. Overwhelming ground clove at first. Some phenolic activity crawls out after the spicy aromas clear up. Lovely.

The yeast does less work in the flavor compare to other Bavarian hefes. A touch of spicy hops makes its presence, along with some malted wheat, hint of citrus, chewing gum, and a touch of banana. Slightly spiced tingling on the tongue...it must be those hops.

Not bad. Okay, so maybe this review isn't totally fair; it's 5 months past its "best before" date.

Poured beautifully, thick fluffy white head which stuck around for a while. Yellow orange color, which is quite opaque.

The smell carries a light fruity scent, with banana, orange and some lemon zest. I also find a hint malt and tart hops.

The taste is very nice, when comparing to most of the other Hefe's I usually drink. A variety of fruits come through, mainly orange banana and lemon. The malt is hard to find in the initial sip, but i noticed it become more pronounced in the aftertaste. Slight hoppy bite as well.

It has a light bubbly mouthfeel, which seems to gain weight as it sits.

A decent drinkability, as with most Hefe's, could enjoy it for its flavor as a session beer, or have a few as it is rather light.

Very nice beer, glad to have picked it up.

Cheers! Matt

poured from bottle into becker pint glass. (only poured about 6oz) split with cousin-in-law

a- cloudy yellow, lively body. head is tight, tiny, dish-soap like bubbles. head "balls up" and lasts fairly long leaving random lacing.

s- smell is average hefe. overripe banana and a hint of grapefuit. slighty spicy and an ever-so-tiny note of fresh, clean yeast.

t- taste is very well balanced. slightly spicy, sour, and light fruits.

m- very silky and smooth. medium body.

d- decent price, goes down easy. overall not a beer to write home about, but a good hefe.

I drank this from the bottle into a pint glass.

The pour is a very light hazy gold with a decent head and lacing.

It smells very light and sweet notes of grass and citrus.

The taste is very smooth and drinkable for wiess, but nothing hard to catch my attention. Almost to light and smooth.

Bottle is slightly past it's best before date but I'm expecting it to be fine since it is in this brown German styled bottle. 500ml bottle poured into a Weizen glass. Has a nice thick faomy white head and a classic hefe golden wheat color.

Smell is very clovy and sweet, with a wheat base. SLight lemon but not as much as others. By the book Bavarian Hefe scent wise.

Taste follows suit although with some slightly more pronounced lemon. Mouthfeel is pretty watery with not a good amount of carbonation. I'm gonna dock this one a bit on mouthfeel, I don't feel this is the way a Hefe should feel, though i will give it a mulligan as it is an older bottle. And the Taste is less desirable than the smell.

Overall it's a run of the mill Hefe with not as good of a mouthfeel compared to most coming out of Germany. Still, I'd put it above its American counterparts, the US has a long way to go to compete with German Hefes, but in the realm of the Germans, specifically Bavaria, this one could be a bit better.

A- What a picture-perfect beer! Poured with a 4-finger cream colored head, which was well-retained and exceptionally rocky... some nice lacing appeared over time. The body was a hazy yellow with some great carbonation.

S- Smells like a yeasty wheat banana bread, with a touch of lemon zest in the background.

T- Up front I'm getting banana, straw, yeast and clove flavors... followed by some restrained tartness of the wheat, some more banana... and a wonderfully dry bread-like finish.

M- Thick and creamy in the mouth... slightly granular... this all makes for a firm body... and the fine carbonation compliments the tartness of the wheat.

D- A very nice hefe-weizen... very drinkable... perfect for the warm weather... thirst quenching and satisfying.

A - golden and cloudy. massive 3 finger pearl white crown w/ sexy lacing in my weizen glass.

S - soft and moist banana bread w/ some clove and hints of lemon. mostly yeast in the nose w/ no real trace of hops.

T - wheat, overrippened bananas, bubblegum and slightly off-putting metalic tang. could this be an old bottle?? not bad, but not great.

MF - perfect! soft carb. medium body and a full and creamy feel.

D - easy summer sipper, scratch that, slammer! unfortunately the wierd off-putting flavor I mentioned takes a notch off. get rid of this metallic thing, and this beer is near perfect for style. ( i will buy a bottle from a different store and revise my review)

Poured from a 500ml bottle in traditional inverted fashion into a traditional weissbier glass. Pour was highly carbonated with excellent head formation. Beer is a beautiful hazy gold color. With minimal agitation I was able to swirl out the yeast. Beautiful fine foam of yeast indicates minimal caking. Final head on the beer was about 2-3 fingers. Excellent head retention even throughout drinking.

The smell is a wonderful mix of spice, citrus and banana. Heavy lemon and spice up front, with a nice mild banana base to back it up. A very unimposing and inviting aroma!

The taste is quite solid. There's a nice bready quality to this beer with more spice coming in (fennel?), rounded out beautifully by the nitrus notes from the yeast. Beautiful in composition!

Mouthfeel is light and crisp. There is substantial carbonation but it's quite soft on the tongue. It has a very juicy, refreshing feel, and is exceptionally thirst-quenching and drinkable.

Hefe-weiss beers are ideal in warm weather, but this one really stands out. I wouldn't call this a perfect beer, but it's damn close. Look for it and enjoy it while the weather is warm! You won't regret it!

A: Pours a thick, 3 finger creamy white head with good retention and great lacing. Pale straw color with good amount of bubbles.

S: Get wheat and can smell the yeast. Spices, citrus, particularly lemon.

T: Yum. A bit of a tart lemon and to a lesser extent banana and clove. Fairly uniform taste throughout with a clean finish.

M: Fairly light bodied, good carbonation. Very clean bordering watery finish, but not necessarily in a bad way.

D: Like any good Hefe, this one is very drinkable. Finished it off with a smoked salmon salad, great pairing.

From a bottle at The Barley House in Concord, NH.

A: Amazing. This is a picture-perfect hefeweizen with a hazy golden body and a whopping three fingers of beautiful, foamy head. Superior head retention and good lacingas the head gradually begins to settle.

S: Bananas, cloves, vanilla.

T: See above.

M: Creamy and smooth. Full-bodied without being overly thivk.

D: Very solid.

This is an excellent example of the style, and a perfection introduction for anyone who has not had one.

Bottle poured into a pint glass.

A- Very murky yellow with a huge chunky 3 finger head that lasted a long time. I had to wait for it to fade a little to pour in the rest.

S- Very light. Mostly wheat with hints of banana, clove and something else I cant nail down.

T- Alot like the smell with the addition of a little more spice and a hint of citrusy fruit.

M- A little watery, finished a little on the dry side.

D- After a long day at work and then some time in the heat working on the truck this hit the spot. A great summer time beer and I could see having a few in a sitiing.

This was 1.57 at my local stop. For a buck and a half you can't go wrong.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a good 2 fingers of fluffy off white head. Lacing is good, retention isn't bad either.

Smells of wheat, light spice, and a very mild lemon.

Taste is wonderful. Smooth and very zesty. Lemon is light with clove, banana and wheat. Very balanced with a nice spice and sweetness.

Mouthfeel is very light bodied and crisp, carbonated but not overly so.

Drinkability is amazing, this is hands down the best hefe I've ever had.

Reviewed 6/21/2009 (bottle BB End 2009/09):

Pours a cloudy pale yellow colored body. Very big foamy creamy white head, lastingish. Malty, nutty aroma. Some kinda funky aroma. Yeast or something. Light taste, some fruitiness, like banana. Very light tasting, refreshing. Almost watery, but not quite. A little dusty, almost dirty.

Appearance: Moderately hazy, golden body with a large, long-lasting, white head.

Smell: Lightly toasty, lightly tangy malted wheat replete with the usual, expected notes of clove, unripe bananas, and lemon zest. Also some sweetish flourishes of honey candy.

Taste: Toasty, tangy wheat with some sugary tastes of light caramel and wildflower honey. Light touch of spicy cloves and cinnamon. Faint hint of citrus. Fruity bananas. Fairly low Noble hop character and bitterness. The malty sweetness bounces back soundly until you hit the drying, lightly crisp, yeasty finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-high carbonation.

Drinkability: Fairly good, fairly enjoyable hefeweizen with a well-balanced, refreshing taste. Let's be sure to do this again sometime, J. Echter!

Having fun this summer exploring more Hefe's.. This was available at Legal Seafood, so I had one with dinner. Glad I did and I am really developing a taste for this style. They did try to bring me a "frosted" glass, but I kindly asked for another.

Fluffy white head tops the cloudy yellowish/dull gold colored beer. The head did stay on the scene for quite some time. Fairly nice lacing clings in the glass.

Pretty classic aroma here. Banana, spice, especially clove and a freshness.

Flavor is right on for the style. The yeast shines through with some spice including white pepper and more notably clove. Some light fruit including the banana and I tasted a touch of peach. Plenty of light bread notes to go around as well. The depth here comes from the yeast and you can explore the different flavors here as you enjoy the beer.

I enjoyed the creamy nature of this beer and the smoothness in the mouth feel. Something refreshing about this.

Very drinkable and enjoyable. One that makes me want to explore this style even more.

This beer is a classic to me. One of the ones I started with years ago. $2.99 a pint-hard to beat.

Tastes like it has around 6-7% even though it is listed at 4.9%.

Appearance was nice-creamy, light tan head. Nice retention. Outstanding aroma-very inviting with pear, banana and clove. Very robust smell. Tastes like the smell, clove, coriander, pear, banana and apple. It has a nice spicey touch to back up the fruit profile.

Served slightly chilled into a Weizen glass.

Pours a beautiful thick translucent orange/amber color. Beautiful 4 finger head which settled down to a 2 finger head with moderate lacing.

The aroma from this beer is a little more subdued than others. It's a more mellow orange/banana ?? aroma. (Wasn't expecting as much banana as I'm smelling from a Hefe).

Isn't as strong across the pallet as some other Hefe's, this seems to be a more mellow and flavorful Hefe with strong hints of Orange and banana coming through.

The mouthfeel on this beer is exceptional. Finishes exceptionally smooth as it slithers down the back of the tongue. Not a very highly carbonated Hefe either.

It's clean/smooth finish and its more mellow nature make this an exceptionally drinkable beer. Easily one of my favorite Light Hefe's.

Pours a hazy strong yellow with a nice dense foamy white head. Good lacing.

Not the scents you'd expect from a typical hefe - some light tropical fruit, but really dusty yeast and raw bread dough dominate. A pleasant surprise.

The fruit is muted in this one -- more of a tart lemony bite with tons of yeast, sweet wheat, and dry bread notes. I know the alcohol is low on this one, but there is definitely an alcohol chemical edge in this brew.

Decent carbonation, lighter bodied, but enough to it to know that this could be an "any season" brew.

Overall, this went down exceptionally well. A nice change from the typical banana-clove bomb that you get in seasonal hefeweizens. Funny enough, a guy in front of me in line bought 4 of these. I can see why.

I tried this at the Würzburger Hofbräu after having already attempted the Dunkles back in the states. It pours a nice hazy color that is a little darker towards the head, and closer to yellow at the bottom, which is typical of an obergäriges beer. Good lacing down the side of the glass. The smell is incredibly strong and the yeast is very noticeable. The taste was much different than the other wheat beers I have tried. There was hardly any fruitiness to it whatsover. In fact it taste kind of sour/zesty and reminded me more than anything else of Wurst. I thought this was interesting though and the beer is quite easy to handle, not bad.

On draft at The Downtown, Brooklyn, NYC.

Poured a murky dark straw hue with a three finger frothy white head. There was good retention and decent lacing.

The smell featured a balmy wheat malt with an estery banana yeast.

The taste consisted of a full wheat malt with an above average sweetness and good spice.

The mouthfeel was toward the fuller side of the style.

Overall a tasty hefe, but there are better examples.
