Best by September 2015 enjoyed September 30, 2015 in a pilsner glass.

Look - Kept head contained with careful pour. Big bubbled white head. Clear golden body with a lot of carbonation flowing up. Good lacing.

Smell - Grass. Wheat. Lemon. Spice. Banana.

Taste - Crisp wheat. Spice. Malt.

Feel - Carbonation is not too overpowering. Sits well. No tongue damage whatsoever. Lighter beer so lighter feel.

Overall - These beers got me to try non macro light beers. Not my cup of beer now but have to reminisce sometimes.

Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier Hell has an extremely thick, creamy bone-white head, an initially clear, bubbly golden appearance, which becomes milky opaque, once the bottom, caked, tan gunk is shaken and poured in. Lacing is splotchy. Aroma is of spiced bread, faint banana, faint coriander, and a whiff of smoke. Taste is the same, with bubble gum and a touch of lemon. Bitterness is not in play, here. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier Hell finishes mostly dry and drinkable to the hilt.

Poured from bottle into Hefeweizen glass, with lunch at Lady Killigrew
A - Slightly clouded, beautiful billowing, snow white cap. Carbonation was steady and relentless.
S - Clove, slight ripe banana elements, Grassy notes all balanced quite well.
T - Biscuit, delicate hop note, wonderful yeasty notes.
F - On this hot day the fell was exquisite. light and delicate.
O - A very nice offering, I have passed up several times, but not again.

Poured from bottle marked best before 2015/09 into Weizen glass

Aroma is there but not at all strong. I was left wanting more. Taste is spot on for the style, requisite banana and clove with a crisp finish.

Overall a solid beer. Wishing I had bought more.

This is a fantastic German Hefeweizen. Right up there with my other favorites- Franziskaner, Weinstephaner and Ayinger. A pleasure to drink..

500ml bottle in a glass. Orange, amber in color with a thin head that dissipates quickly. Smells like banana. Very smooth taste, reminiscent of a Hoegaarden, but more full bodied with a few fruit notes thrown in. Highly recommended.

Has that classic banana clove coriander aroma.Soft amber haze color. The color for some reason just doesn’t have the same appeal as others of the style. A two inch foamy head. Refreshing banana and citrus taste. Has a mild creamy but zesty mouth feel.

500 ml bottle poured into a wheat beer glass

Hazy yellow orange, translucent, with dense , frothy off white three finger cap

Aroma of bananas, spices, grassy, lemons

Sweet malt on the front of the tongue. Hint of spice, grass, clove, banana, bubblegum

No sudsing, almost flat .

Very nice, pleasant beer. Like here weissend in the summer time. Good example of the style.

16.9 oz. bottle poured into wheat beer glass
(best before July 2015)

L: classic pale orange-yellow cloudy look, big 1-inch-plus head of fluffy off-white/beige foam that has stacks and stacks of big bubbles ... really cool-looking, those big bubbles; head is real thick and cream on edges and sticks well; tons and tons of bubbles flying up column; beer keeps a beautiful skin of foam, super thick collar; everything you'd want from a hefeweizen

S: banana, clove, spicy for a hefe, almost Belgian witbier-like

T: again, as much clove or spice as banana; again, very witbier-like ... but there's plenty banana flavor off the wheat and some typical sweetness; light all around ... nothing here is overboard; maybe a pinch of earthy bitterness in the background ... could be coming from simple alcohol taste

F: very soft, a bit flat ... that often seems to be right for the style, but this one can feel nitro-like if you give it a real hard pour

O: classic notes all around and not bad, but there's much better out there ... lacks the pop of that wheat sweetness you get from the really good hefes. has too much clove/all-spice in it for my personal tastes.

Oh, this is good stuff.

Rich, frothy, lasting head. Deep yellow color. You know, not Natty Ice urine yellow, but, hey, this is good beer yellow.

Rich notes of whatever well-balanced wheat and hops these German brewers chose. Specifically, it tastes darn good.

Two finger white head atop a cloudy amber beer. A few minutes in the cap is a foamy ring and nice skim.

Medium aroma, full of clove, with lighter banana, even a touch of biscuit and herb,

Taste better than aroma, standard for style, bready, clove, touch of banana, hint of hop spice, tasty.

A bit overcarb for style, not as clean as you would like, finish ends with some rooty herbal thing going on. Worst feature

Kinda standard for style, but nowadays there are many of these floating around, better German imports, and the American versions fresher, and often much better due to the freshness factor. Not recommended.

From bottle at the 2014 and 2015 German Bierfests (ATL).

Hazy light amber with a decent head.
Light body with crisp medium plus carbonation.

Light clove, typical banana, and high tartness for style. A pretty good mix of flavors but would prefer more malt and less banana.

The beer poured a hazy straw yellow with a significant fluffy white head with little retention. The aroma was pure hefeweiss with strong notes of banana and cloves, but more on the spicy clove side. The taste was light and refreshing with more of the signature Hefe banana and cloves and a hint of bready wheat. The body was less creamy and more effervescent and the low bitterness made for a refreshing drinking experience.

I had this beer once in a four pack that a friend bought for me and was very impressed

Normally, I am not impressed with hefes in bottles, but this was an exception

Poured a nice three finger German head into a wheat beer german glass. Head was impressive, lasted and very distinctive German weissbier mushroom top bloom. beautiful hazy yellow.

Aromas of cloves, bananas and just a faint third spice (grains of paradise?)

Taste follows the nose, with just a hint more citrus

Mouthfeel is full but crisp and refreshing

Overall, I think this is my favorite Hefe-weissen in a bottle. My only regret is that I look for it all the time, and it is hit or miss, the Dunkle is usually whats in stock at least in Atlanta….It left a good impression, because I look for it all the time

Pours an opaque yellow. Tall, white head.

Smell is banana and clove.

The flavor is the same as the aroma. Bananas and cloves up front.

Typical hefeweizen mouthfeel

It has the makings of a great hefe but it falls a little short. The flavors are good but too subdued.

Pours a cloudy yellow with a good sized white head. Pretty much the classic look for the style.

Smell is of banana, clove, yeast, and bubble gum.

Tastes a lot like it smells, mainly banana and clove. It does finish with a hint of pepper, leaving a slightly spicy aftertaste.

Feel is about normal from the style, carbonation is a little on the light side, but still has a bit on tingle to it.

A decent wheat beer, but nothing outstanding either. It has some nice flavors, they are just a bit too subtle, would have liked to see a more forward flavor profile. This would be a good beer for a hot day, it is very easy to drink, has just enough flavor, and isn't too heavy.

A modest, creamy white head floats above a murky, old gold (SRM 4-5). The head is long lasting and leaves fine lacing.

Clean warm banana bread with bubble gum upon entry. Cloves are present, but clearly a secondary element. Warmth brings out a light, white wine aroma.

The flavor follows the nose closely. It is well balanced with light acid. Sweetness and bitterness are both modest and work well together. The finish is long.

A medium body with velvety texture and no alcohol. There is a touch of a metallic scent with fizzy carbonation.

This is another exceptional summer beer enjoyed from a Franziskaner weizen glass. It is very sessionable and versatile.

great looking, pale tan and hazy, good head and lace.

Sweet yeasty and bready flavors and aromas. Clove and banana. A good portion of wheat. Standard hefe deliciousness, a very tasty one.

body is super drinkable and yet slightly chewy like a good hef should be.

Overall it's a very enjoyable brew that I'll have again.

Classic orange/yellow pour with decent head and pretty good lacing on the glass. Sweet wheat, banana, and some spice in the aroma. Taste follows the smell, good strong sweet wheat, very clean and extremely enjoyable. Strong carbonation pops on the tongue. Excellent hefe that I would enjoy anytime.

This beer pours cloudy yellow with a huge white head that lasted a very long time. Smells of cloves, bubble gum, citrus. The taste is typical Hefeweizen with cloves, banana, and a slight sour lemon taste. A nice representation of the style but not my favorite. Definitely worth a try though.

A: Golden hay bale. Huge maelstrom of carbonation overwhelms the serving vessel I chose (imperial pint). Highly recommend traditional wheat beer glass to display the thick, rocky head that is expected with this style. Beer is mostly clear, unless you prefer to swish in the yeast from the bottom. In this instance I chose to forgo this step to evaluate yeast flavor imparted only to the beer.

S: Musty yeast, cloves, light and sweet Munich malt.

T: Spicy yeast simulatenous with sweet wheat and Munich malt. Some mustiness from the smell translates into the taste. Slight sour taste followed by a slow noble bitterness. Comes right back to spicy wheat yeast flavors. I agree with one reviewer who suggested "juicy fruit bubblegum", though it is minimal. Very much a clove/spicy driven wheat malt flavor, low to minimal bubblegum/banana flavor.

M: Medium/light body with initial high carbonation levels. Slight watery/juicy feeling. Feels hydrating and balanced. Fluffiness apparent with cold temps. As beer warms, malty flavors and loss of carbonation thicken the perception of mouthfeel. Slight stickiness throughout.

O: Bought this beer based off of a recommendation from a coworker who lived in Germany for many years, and still visits yearly. It is a solid German hefeweizen which leaves little to guesswork. If you enjoy wheat beers, and especially German wheat beer, it is a must try. It has an old world taste, which clearly the brewery is in the business of. There is little fuss and big taste while remaining balanced, always bringing you in for another sip.

750ml bottle poured into a weizen glass.

A: Cloudy golden color, creamy and foamy white head retains wonderfully. Lacing is thick and clumpy. Textbook hefeweizen appearance.

S: Banana, creamy wheat, hints of clove and pepper.Juicy fruit bubblegum tucked deeper within. Incense. A lot of yeast action, a bit more spicy than other hefs, but I'm digging it.

T: Clove and spice up front. White pepper. Very yeasty. Juicy fruit. Banana tucked into the background. Walnut and a creamy wheat impression. Subtle tick of tartness. Hit of clove toward the end. A touch medicinal. Very yeasty on the finish, fading spices.

M: Light in body. Very creamy and filling in the mouth. Cloud-like. Blast of scrubbing carbonation. Textbook again.

O: A very solid hefeweizen coming straight from the source. Not much else to say, other than drink it if you see it. It's one of the better ones on the market. Paired nicely with the breakfast sandwich I made myself. Fried egg, swiss, and pastrami on country sourdough, with just a dash of Frank's Red Hot.

Pours out a hazy golden yellow at the bottom of the glass and turns a darker orange towards the thicker part. The beer is topped with a big white head that sounds like Rice Krispies as it sits and breaks down.

Wheat, lemon, and clove are up front. Banana and some sweetness sit in behind those.

The taste brings more spice and bready wheat. Definitely not as lemony/citrus forward as the nose is. It is there though with some slight banana.

The body is fairly light. Surprised by how light the carb felt. There are lots of bubbles running around.

Super solid weissbier.
