They have a very nice selection of beer. Beers that have been rated highly by Beer Advocate have the BA Score on the fridge door. They have a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They appear to have a very nice liquor/wine/cigar selection as well. If you are looking for something older or out of season this place is great and it is worth the drive even if you don't live in south/southwest Austin. In the summer of 2010 I picked up some 2008 Ten Fidy and some 2006 and 2008 Dogfish Head 120 Minute. It is located at the northbound access road of 290/71 and Old Fredericksberg Rd.

One of the best spots in Austin to fulfill your craft beer appetite.
Its located in a semi difficult place to find, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. The store itself is relatively small, but they do a lot with what they have to work with.
Most of the beers they carry are solid and the staff is pretty knowledgable. Another great aspect is that they take care of their regulars, holding beers and giving you the inside scoop of upcoming releases.
If you enjoy other types of alcohol besides beer, than this place is also for you. Great wine, whiskey and a not to shabby cigar selection is also available.
Their prices are higher than the big chains, but I like supporting my local businesses so I will continue to do so. Next time you are in southwest Austin, give them a look.

Swung by Oak Hill Liquor to see if I could find any hidden beer gems. Although this is a very good beer store, I wasn't overly impressed having come out of my way by 20 minutes to visit it.
Sure, the selection is great, but it definitely doesn't show up any other good Austin beer store (i.e. Whip In, Specs, Grape Vine). I was happy to find a sole 4-pack of Ten Fidy left in the fridge, as well as some '08 DFH 120 minute for a reasonable $8 per bottle.
Can't say much for the quality of this place. When I arrived, all of the beer fridges were wide open because the air conditioning had broken earlier that day...hmmmm. They also had some 2006 Sierra Nevada Brown Ale that they were trying to sell for $7.50 a sixer...I don't think I would have paid more than $4 (I realize it has 8 'wants' and 0 'gots' on BA, but all the reviews show that the bottles have gone downhill). Still, the staff was friendly. I'd stop by this place if I were headed out to Hill Country, but I doubt I'll be going out of my way to visit it again.

This is my favorite beer store in Austin. While they may be a bit slower to get seasonals in stock compared to, say, Grapevine Market, they keep out-of-season beers available year-round. I've found 2005 vintage bottles of Twin Sisters sitting in the cooler. The staff is very friendly and very helpful, and it's a locally-owned family-run business, which I like to support in general.
If you don't see a recently-released beer in there, mention it to the staff. They will try as best as possible to secure at least a couple of cases. I was able to get the Sierra Nevada Fresh Hop ale this way (they even called me personally when it was delivered).
Worth the drive.
