Bergenfield is a pretty confusing place to navigate, but fortunately I was able to find this liquor store nestled in a strip mall off New Bridge Rd.

The name of the store is Wine Country and it certainly does not disappoint in that aspect as about 90% of the store is dedicated to wines of all sorts and sizes. Tucked away in the back right corner are a couple of shelves clearly marked "Craft Beers", so I made a beeline for that section.

There are two big shelves that are almost as tall as the quite-high ceiling. The top 3/4ths are lined with bombers and 4/6-packs of craft beer with the bottom shelves housing bottled mixed drinks. Directly across from the shelves are a row of coolers with some more craft.

Quality of the brews are fairly good, with most being within reasonable freshness. A few older bottles here and there, but mostly barleywines and stouts, styles that do well with a bit of age on them. Selection is decent. They've got the standard assortment of bombers including Chimay, Allagash, Unibroue and a few local breweries. Notably absent are usual suspects Rogue and Stone. Not bad for a wine store, but I've definitely seen better offerings in Jersey.

Service is pretty average. There were a few employees working around the area I was in and I made eye contact with them a few times as I was browsing. They didn't approach me or ask if I needed help, even though I was doing a through examination of their craft selection. Instead, they kept yammering to each other about sports or something. As I exited the store, the cashier told me to have a good day, so I guess that counts for something.

Price is definitely the high point for this store. There are a number of good deals on some great beer and prices are at least a few dollars cheaper than in New York.

On the whole, a decent place to pick up a few brews. The selection isn't going to blow you away and the employees may look at you funny or ignore you outright, but you'll pay some pretty cheap prices for the good beer they do have. I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here again though.

I was amazed when I walked into this place.

Sure they're the standard Wine store with a vast inventory of wines from around the world, but when I asked for help on the craft beers I was taken to the back of the store where they add a HUGE selection of beers. They had beers ranging from arrogant bastard, different types from the famous Rogue Brewery, and many other imports that I haven't seen in the area in ages.

Not only did their selection surprise me but when I saw their prices I was even more amazed.

Another thing I liked when I was here I asked if they had a certain beer I've been looking for and when I asked them, within seconds they checked their inventory and although they didn't carry it, they were happy to order it for me and call me when they got it in, something I haven't seen in a long time either.

Definitely making this my new stop for my beers and will definitely be stopping in the future to pick up more stuff
