This place is a great small town bar. The beers are decent for the yuppies in the area and the juke box is usually more tailored for the more usual visitor.
Before I finally escaped the Burg, I used to come here often. And every time I come back, this is one of the first places I go back to. It is a good bar to come home to, reminds you of the town you left. Patrons are always good natured and it is always a good time.
But if you are looking for a more polished bar in Galesburg, well you might as well try...oh wait, this is probably the best place you will find in the city.

One of my all time favorite college bars, spent much time here as a beer geek college student and apart from Buddes might be the best place to get a craft beer in Galesburg. The tap selection is not that impressive with only one of the five taps dedicated to micro brews, either Sam or SNPA. What saves this place is the atmosphere and the bottle selection. The bar itself is long and narrow, the entire place is basically one huge oval shaped bar with a small spot in back for darts and an outdoor patio. In the summer they have free burgers on Wednesdays or Thursdays I forget which. Anyways back to the bar itself. It has a very vintage feel with lots of old beer signs on the wall and a decent jukebox selection. Like I said before all the good beer here is in bottles and all the bottles are stored in a large grab-it-yourself cooler. You bring the beer to the bar and the bartender opens it for you, which can be sort of annoying when the place gets too crowded. The bottle selection varies from week to week and I have no idea where they get them from. I saw a Saint Bernardus 12 in there one time and some other Belgians like Duvel and they had Gulden Draak in there once. Along with the Belgians comes a pretty decent selection of domestic micros ranging from Goose Island to Two Brothers and New Holland. The only thing that bugs me about this place is lack of proper glassware. I mean they have all these beers but they you have to ask for a glass or else they won't give you one and the staff isn't that beer savvy anyways. But all this aside it is a great and friendly atmosphere, good beer and very inexpensive. A great place to go with some friends and I am going to miss it terribly.
