This place was a major letdown, but did not expect it to be great, pretty much on UCR's campus and a block away from my girlfriend's brother's place

Normal beers you can find evrywhere else, best and most unsual thing they have are Samuel Adams seasonal ales

Also have Rogue Dead Guy Ale in 12 ounce bottles for like 5 bucks

Got an appetizer sampler and it was pretty nasty, pizza was gross

Typical college hangout/bar, pool tables, jukebox, super loud

Do not recommend this place unless you go to school here and you do not have transportation

This is a very typical traditional college bar/pub/pizza restaurant (across the street from University of California, Riverside), including all the good and bad that goes with that. In my earlier days, I frequented many similar establishments (including the predecessor to this place, the olde "Bull and Mouth", which sadly burned down some years back) where the food is plentiful and cheap, lots of video games and space to hang out, the beer comes by the pitcher, and the students and professors can relax after a hard day's academizing.

Not to be overly harsh, because this definitely has its place in the world. But I am not in a place in my life where I found this terribly comfortable and enjoyable- you can decide that for yourself. But what about the beer?

Actually, the selection was a little better than expected at first blush- the taps (about 20 of them) are kind of hidden away and hard to read, but in adddition the the typical macros, there were a number of "gateway" type beers on tap (Pyramid Hefe, Sam Adams, Guinness, Bass, a couple Sierra Nevadas) that are decent and reasonable, but nothing unusual or noteworthy. Fat Tire, Sam Adams Black Lager, Dead Guy Ale and the like make up the 20 or so bottle choices.

Overall, if you are at UCR and need a place to relax, you could do a lot worse. But I don't feel any need or desire to return.
