Awesome bar and best in St Augustine by far. Actually comes close to rivaling Kickbacks in Jax. The two best bars in NorthEast Fl hands down.

great euro atomphere. a little german/english type bar. Some local spanish flavors in the food. Kinds of a european hodge podge bar

Food was great. I had the Matanzas sandwich and it was to die for. I'll probably go back and eat that again it was so good. The flaky bread made.

Beer: they have atleast 30-40 taps there including wine in tap. nearly another 50-75 bottled beers. There's plenty of options.

One of my favorite beer bars ever and Im well traveled.

J.P.'s is always a great place to spend a hot Florida afternoon. There is a great mixture of people, from Flagler College kids to retirees, everyone sitting together and having some great beer and food. The selection of beers is excellent with 70 beers on tap and what seems like hundreds more in bottles and cans. The service is always great and the food, mostly sandwiches and salads, is first rate. The interior is all wood and very simple but classy. Also, in old world fashion, there is an Inn upstairs if you have too many.

Coming from Charleston SC (where our beer culture is growing, but still has a way to go somewhat) I was anxious to go to a bar with a deep draft and bottle list. I was not dissapointed. Lots of great beers. I started with a DFH Indian Brown and transitioned over to a great Cigar City Brew. In fact I will have to go back just to try more.

The food was excellent. I had the Mushroom Shrimp Empenadas and the Roast Beef Blue Cheese sub. It was excellent.

Perfect. I was just down in St. Augustine with my wife and niece and we were looking through one of the tourist coupon books for a nice place to grab lunch when I spotted the ad for J.P. Henley's. We decided to go check it out and were all very pleased. The atmosphere was great, it was very clean, had a great selection of beer on tap, and too many to count in bottles. The food was excellent and the service was awesome. I grabbed a reuben sandwich and a pint of Rogue Dead Guy for lunch and it truly hit the spot. For dessert I decided to go local and try Mile Marker 1565 Ancient City Red Ale and thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend this place to anyone I talk to now who is planning a trip to the area. I will definitely return next time I am down that way.

Probably the best beer bar in St. Augustine

Atmosphere: awesome. very classy bar with a lot of sun light with a nice dining room in the back. reminds me more of a cottage than bar.

Selection/Quality: for the most part this was extremely run of the mill and predictable for an average craft beer bar. However, there were some rarities such as 2009 Bigfoot, Life & Limb Batch 1, and 1809 Berliner Weiss...which I was quite excited about.

Service: though a bit slow, was very nice and fairly knowledgeable.

Food: perfect. I had a sandwich that consisted of chimay basked chicked, aged swiss, proscuitto, and pesto. it was amazing.

Located just around the corner (south) of the A1A ale works near Flagler College and old St. Augustine. J.P. Henley's is a little hole-in-the-wall style pub with about ten tables and a 20 seater brown bar on the inside. It's easy to see how it'd be packed on a busy weekend or during a major holiday.

I ate there this Labor Day for lunch. They have a limited menu, preferring to focus on their beer and wine selection on draft. At any time, they have about 30-40 beers on draft with a selection of +/- 100 bottled brands in their reach in coolers behind the bar. They also have a wine draft system (that's something I don't see every day) behind the bar with about 10 bottles of wine hooked up.

They had several varieties of American micro-brew seasonals and some respectable imports on draft. They have a decent selection of belgian craft beers and are now just starting to get in some fall seasonals (pumpkin beers, spiced beers and octoberfests).

Their menu is limited to appetizers, salads and sandwiches. Perhaps this is for the best, as they're just enough to balance out the beer selections. The ahi tuna sandwich that I had was excellent, served slightly seared on panini bread with a non-horseradish tasting wasabi mayo with tomatoes and lettuce.

The service was friendly and fast. For lunch, they had me in-and-out in about a half hour. Definitely check them out before going to A1A Ale works.
