This is by far the best bar in Dayton, If you sit at the bar. Every time I go here it seems like eternity to get another beer. Now that I've expressed my only complaint... how about why its so good. Every Monday is half off large, and extra-large pizza's. The pizza is some of the best in Dayton. They have some very different pizza's you won't find most places. Gyro pizza, gordon blu pizza, and the seafood pizza just to name a few. The quality and taste of this pizza is well worth full price, getting at half price just let's me get more of the amazing beers they have on draft. The draft board is always changing to. I go at least once a week and have not seen the same list of beers twice. Definitely worth the trip from cinci or c-bus.

Visited for lunch on Halloween to talk business. Will definitely be coming back.

Atmosphere: Cozy and clean joint. Booths, bar tables, TVs - a typical small bar type atmosphere, but well lit and not at all a dive. Nice big chalkboard sign as you walk through the door showing what's on tap. Interesting to see a wide range of people in the place. Father and young college son having lunch, several businessmen, some locals, and a big crowd of friends getting together for an event. Very accommodating.

Quality: Lots of high quality beers available on tap and in bottles in a cooler behind the bar. I did see 1-2 macros, but from what I've seen of this place, it's so they have something for everyone - plenty for those who love craft beers and imports, and also something for someone who just wants a simple US macro lager.

Service: It was very crowded I think unexpectedly so for the staff in the place. There was a large crowd at the tables (a special get together) So while it took quite some time to get served, the waitress hustled as best as she could and took 10% off the bill (with no prompting from us) due to the wait. Beers were served in the proper glasses - Tulips for the Belgian ales, and Nonic glasses for the lagers that were ordered by others in the party.

Selection: I can't remember the wide range of things they had on Tap, but definitely a good range of seasonals, imports, US craft, 1 cider, and 1 macro lager (Labatts). To my surprise, they had on tap Kwak, one of my favorite Belgian ales, which was what I had with lunch. They had quite a bit from Bell's and I think a few choices from Stone, but again, I can't remember. Behind the counter I saw several Lambics, quite a few 22oz bombers, several imports (Weihenstephaner, Sam Smith, Piraat is what I remember). Honestly, something for everyone with the choices they had. I don't think you would be disappointed.

Food: Not a huge selection, but a neat selection of pizza, calzones, and sandwiches. I had the Gyro pizza which was fantastic. I will have to come back and try some more things off the menu.

Price was very good. 4 people, 5 beers, 2 calzones and one large pizza - $53 total.

My absolute favorite place in Dayton to enjoy a craft beer. Always have something new as the taps (18, I think) constantly rotate. Great locally owned place. Small bar but always get a seat somewhere. Side patio is nice if the weather cooperates. Staff are friendly and fun to talk with. Pizzas are the best - I won't order any other pizza in Dayton. Parking has never been an issue.

South Park Tavern is one of the best kept secrets in Dayton. Where else can you get a killer selection of craft beers and Pizza Factory pizza? And on Monday its 1/2 price pizza? Seriously a never miss location. There is always an excellent selection on the tap list and its a part of the growler fill with Thai9, Luckys, et all. VISIT THIS SPOT FOR SURE!!

This place is by far one of the bars/taverns in Dayton. They always have some amazing beers on tap including delicious IPA's. The Reuben pizza is the best I have ever had. If you live anywhere close around Dayton and haven't been to South Park then you are missing out.

South Park Tavern (SPT) is a must-visit if you're in Dayton. It's a small bar/restaurant that has a small stage for bands inside and a small patio outside. (Yes, it's small, meaning if you don't get there early on a Friday or Saturday, you probably won't get a seat. You can usually tell by how packed the small parking lot is.)

If you do get in though, be ready for some delicious food and drink! The specialty pizzas are where it's at - they are made by Pizza Factory (which you should order and pick up just down the road if you can't get a table). My personal fav is the Chicken Cordon Bleu pizza, it's seriously the most delicious thing on earth. And the foccacia is great too. They have an awesome 18-tap wall that is a wooden cutout of a guitar! The beer selection is great, usually about half the taps are IPAs (Mojo Risin, Maharaja, something from Founders or Bells) then there's a good variety of other choices.

The wait staff are all nice and pretty knowledgable about the beers, and you can always ask for a sample or two. Beer prices are comparable to most other places that serve craft beer, about $6 a pint. There's always a mixed crowd there; some families for dinner when it's early, people coming in for a beer when they just got off work, craft beer enthusiasts cozying up to the bar, friends hanging out enjoying food and drinks and listening to the bands.

Overall, one of my all time favorite places to go. Never disappoints!

I heard about this place a few years ago i had to check it out! It was great to see the wide selection of delicious craft beers...i like to go at least once a week, and i usually check their beer list online to see whats on tap... One of my favorite places to drink an IPA and have some pizza! Their selection of beer is one of the best in Dayton. Cant really go wrong with pizza, craft beer, and music. Sometimes it gets a little crowded but everyone is friendly, and the patio is great when the weather is nice.

Stopped in around 4:15 on a Thursday evening with a co worker for a pint or two and some chow. Cozy interior with one of those old hockey foosball type games with the big plastic dome.

Sat kinda close to the bar so I could read the beer menu on the chalkboard.

A nice selection of beers on tap. I went with a black IPA and Belgian IPA from North Peak Brewing out of Michigan.

No taster flights available but the friendly server was more than willing to provide me tastes. In the end, she gave me a generous ~3 oz taster of the Flying Dog Coffee Imperial IPA.

I had a greek pizza and my buddy had fried appetizers which he really enjoyed.

Nice place that could probably get really crowded when busy.

Great beer selection and good pizza. knowledgeable and friendly staff. Several tvs and a projector for sports. Outdoor patio with fire pit.

Continuously updating the taps with unique craft beers. Website and Facebook are regularly updated with current tap list. Beer does go in a hurry most often so if there is something specific that you want to have, make sure you get there the night that it is tapped or you might miss out.

Overall a great place that I go to frequently with friends for good beer and great conversations.

This is one of the few good places in the Dayton area to go. About the only other place is The King's Table on Grange Hall. The food is excellent and the prices aren't bad, especially in the case of the pizza. The selection is pretty decent especially for the fact that its one of two places in all of Dayton to get a good beer at a reasonable price, it's a good deal. Also, they sometimes have special tapings, so if you can get in there for that the selection is a different story. The atmosphere is better than most places and the staff is friendly and you can get great service.

Visited this place because I saw that the particular day I was traveling in Dayton, they were tapping a keg of Founders KBS. Just went for the 1 beer. The bar was pretty small, but seemed like a good local spot. Service was good. Obviously, the beer was exceptional. They seem to have a very solid selection of quality beers. Pretty cool music selection playing. They had a really nice set of turntables playing records. Wish i could have tried some of the food, but had already eaten when I went.

I would definitely check this place out again on a trip to the area.

Easily my favorite place to grab a pint in town. Plenty of rotating taps, excellent food - the pizza is great, but they make a mean sammich! They've got a great patio if you don't want to deal with the band that might be playing inside. The room is a little small, but that's the nature of your friendly neighborhood bar. You can usually find quite a few interesting characters hanging out, and plenty of beer geeks to chat with.

Pro tip: Mondays are buy one get one free pizza. And their pizza means business.

In short - go to South Park Tavern.

I sought this place out while in Dayton on business, based on BA reviews. It was a Wednesday night and they happened to be having an open mike night, or something similar. There were a series of small bands, solo acts and duets. The music was mostly very good, but so loud that it made it very difficult to have a conversation.

The atmosphere was comfortable, but not fancy. Definitely a traditional neighborhood bar, but that's not a bad thing. The food was very good and plentiful and seemed fresh. The service was good and our waitress seemed knowledgeable on beer, although it was tough to tell over the music.

The beer selection was fairly broad and had plenty to make me happy. It was mainly larger US craft breweries, such as Stone, Dogfish Head, Avery and Victory. I had Stone's Old Guardian and enjoyed it very much, although I did not take notes and couldn't review it from memory now. Unexpectedly, they had White Rhaj from The Brew Kettle, one of my favorite breweries.

The prices were very reasonable.

My local friend had never heard of the place, but he was glad I found it and plans to go back.

South Park has made its mark on the Dayton craft beer scene. They offer 18 taps of craft beers, and they are continually rotating the selection. They offer everything from Bell's to Founder's to Stone, etc. It is never a problem finding something you will like - it is more of a problem deciding which ones to enjoy. They are also great about letting you sample. It is the best beer bar in the Dayton area by far. Shaine does a great job of running the taps and the staff always goes out of their way to take care of you.

THe pizza is exceptional as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the Dayton area who enjoys great beer. I only wish that it was closer to my home.

This is beginning to be one of my favorite places to grab a beer in Dayton. I am a big fan of Marion's Piazza, but South Park Tavern is starting to pass them in my eyes. The pizza is absolutely amazing, they have all the normal pizza you'd want as well as some specialties (try the Gyro pizza - YUM!).

As far as the beer selection... I don't know how a place so small can hold all the different types of beers they have! They always have a whole bunch of great beers on tap.

The owner informed me that they have been keeping a bunch of goodies in their cellar, so there will always be something special on tap.

Great place in a very historical part of Dayton, Ohio. I love it!

This place quickly became my favorite bar to go to. I work near by and stop by every Friday after work. I would go more often if I could afford it. Great selection of craft beers on tap. I've been able to try many new beers and styles. The pizza is fabulous as well. They have all the usual toppings and many unique choices as well (ie cheeseburger pizza). If you live near Dayton or driving through, its a must try. It's very close to US 35 and not far from I 75. The bartenders are great too! Plus you can sample anything on draft.

I absolutely love this place. There are around 18 rotating taps and every few days there is something new. I usually hang out here on Friday nights when there usually is no band. The pizza is excellent and the rest of the food is pretty good and they're fairly knowledgable about the beers they're serving. They use proper glassware for each style which is a plus in my book and the sign of a good beer bar. You can end up spending alot of money in a night here, but that's to be expected given the caliber of brews on tap. Theyir bottle selection is also very good. Definitely worth a stop. The area is a bit shady but I've never had a problem and it shouldn't deter you. The only real downside is the limited amount of parking so get there early!

This has become one of my favorite Watering holes n Dayton. Here are reasons to visit.

1. By far one of the best selections in Ohio, Just an always changing menu of beer and something that the place down the street doesnt have.

2. Coolest Tap display I have ever seen...Come in to Check it out. It was custom made and worth the trip.

3. Phenomenal Pizza and wings...they have a ton of specialty pizzas and specialty wing sauces.

4. They will always let you sample before you buy...Now I hate this because I am the type that commits to a pint, I hate people that come in, try every beer and buy one and leave hammered. Common ladies commit...Only time I may do this is when I am stopping in for 1 because of time and they have 2 I just have to try, but normally I then stick around for 2.

5. Great prices and big beers for $4 sometimes.

6. They now do Growlers on most of their beers.

7. When you walk up to the bar there is a huge chalkboard with everything they have, stlye, and ABV%, also the wait staff writes which one is their current favorite.

8. Shaine is one of the nicest guys you will meet and Dale behind the bar is awesome as well.

9. They support the local music scene in Dayton.

If in Dayton you need to stop here! Period!

Great beer selection -- what I like most about their beer selection is the constant rotation of taps. Every time you come in they can have a completely different beer menu from the previous time. All the beers are quality craft beers. Not a lot of variety in the food menu, but I think the pizza is the best in Dayton. The atmosphere is a little blue collar and "rough", but I've managed to bring my family here in the early part of the evening and everyone had a great time. In addition to the great quality of beers, they also have some of the best prices and value I've seen. And from what I've ready, soon they may be offering growlers to go as well!

Great place in Dayton if you are looking for a good beer and a bite to eat. Around 18 taps of beer that is constantly rotating so every week this generally something new to try. Nice bottle selection as well if you are not impressed with anything on tap. Service is friendly and they are willing to answer any questions that you have about beer, at least that was my experience. Pizza is of better quality for the Dayton area and on Monday it is half price, so if you are thinking of going I suggest trying then. Overall a great place that I will frequent often.

This was quite the surprise.
Just read on their blog that they've expanded from 6 taps to 18! Very nice looking interior with a couple of TV's to catch the game/news. One of the better tap selections I have seen in awhile. Especially for a non-tasting event. I drank impy pints of Racer 5, Dragons Milk and GI Night Stalker. Absolutely incredible. Ordered a pizza here off a recommendation and it was delicious. Pepperoni on a wheat crust and it was incredible.
They also have an outdoor beer patio and the kicker, a Bubble Hockey game!
I wish this place was closer to me, I would be there several times a week. Great atmosphere, good help, great place. I will go out of my way to get back here.

Great pizza with a gourmet variety of pies, the city's best wings (baked on the pizza rack) with their variety of wing sauce, and for hiding out as the lone tavern on an edge of a neighborhood, an EXCEPTIONAL beer selection. And this on-tap beer selection is constantly revolving. With an equally impressive bottle beer selection, manager Shaine Sullivan makes this place one of Dayton's best kept secrets. The local beer lovers know they can scope this place out on 4 day difference, and have new flavors poured. Shaine seeks out the rare draught to pour from 18-taps which is embellished by his own guitar design. He also keeps shot glasses for tasting before you buy a draught at no cost. $5 for a 12oz and $6 for a 20oz is your typical price for all draughts.

This is a beer bar with a wine selection. No hard liquor or mixed drinks served. With a very nice patio, great staff and even a stage for a band, Shaine continues to improve the experience for his customers. If you are ever in Dayton, seek this place out and see what he has on tap.

Visited a few times now and the beer line-up is always different from the last time that I came. They are always bringing in new things to try out. Of those I can remember Stone RIS, Hopslam, Weihenstephaner, Rogues Dead Guy where among many other great brews. They have about 20 taps that are all dedicated to craft beers along with a huge selection of bottles. Beers are a bit pricey at 5$ for 16oz and 6$ for 20oz but for the most part it is worth it. They specialize in pizza which is also a tad pricey at around 15$ for a large but they are really well made and taste amazing.

The place is decorated with music memorabilia and sports equipment with TVs and a live music stage. I have only visited during the day and it was not very crowded. Service was timely and good and let me have samples at my request.

All in all a nice place to have a brew and a pizza.

A neighborhood pizza-pub in the "historical" South Park neighborhood in Dayton. I put that in quotes because, by appearances, the historical part seems to be most of the houses are literally falling down.

Anyway, the atmosphere here is a bit hole-in-the-wall, which is likely serviceable for their hipster/punk clientele. Inoffensive, but other than a few hanging guitars and hockey jerseys, nothing to write home about.

The tap selection is what draws you here. 12-15 offerings when I was there, and not a macro in the bunch. A solid list which included Bells, Founders, Anchor, DFH, Wittkerke, Moerlein, Southern Tier and a few others at our time of visit.
They do have brewer tastings on occasion, so if you hear about it in advance you can find some real treats here.

The service was great. The waitress was very efficient and, don't tell the state of Ohio but, she gave me my first pint free!

While I come for the beer, my wife comes for the pizza. It's great stuff, usually slathered with mozzarella AND cheddar, and with the option of white or wheat crust. To top it off, Mondays their large pizzas are half price (around $8).

In conclusion, on a Monday evening we ordered two large pizzas, two 12 oz beers and a soda pop...all coming to a grand total of $24. We will be back!
