Transcribed from Notes of 23/10/2006, this was the fifth beer tasted at the Capitol, a JDW pub in Forest Hill, SE London, during the chain’s Full Moon Beer Festival.

A: almost transparent pale copper in colour, coming with a very frothy beige head with superb retention, but I take this as a sign of being from nearly the end of the cask.
S: dried citrus peels, semi-sweet caramel malts, apple-ish and nectarine-like ripe fruits… overall, it’s 50-50 malty and fruity on the nose.
T: rather light in bitterness upfront, showing a fruity palate from Styrian Goldings, where an herbal, licorice, as well as dried peaches come together; leading towards a soothing bitter aftertaste with some lingering aroma.
M&D: light on the mouthfeel and softly carbonated, this ale shows a moderate maltiness and consistent bitterness, added with a burned-fruity hint. Enjoyable!
