There's one thing that bothers me about this place. It's a pretty solid Tex-Mex restaurant even without the beer. The food is tasty, well-made although a little mild for the style of food. Still, in this part of Georgia, decent to good Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen and an entree usually only runs about $6 for a goodly-sized portion. While I'd say that US Border's food is well on the good side of the decent to good category (the rice and beans are the best I've had in a similar restaurant) I don't really think the dinner entrees qualify for the nearly $10 tag they come with. I'm sure lunch is a bit cheaper and closer to what the food should be priced. This is offset by the price of the beer. A pint of the house IPA only cost me $2.50. In a town where pints usually run you over $4 except for crap, that's a damn refreshing price. It doesn't hurt matters that the beer is well crafted. While I've been told that this is the best brewpub in the metro atlanta area, I can't be positive of that yet. The amber ale was mediocre and the golden was a golden, the IPA was pretty good (although tasted more like an APA) and the bock was the real deal and quite good. The thing is from what was offered here tonight I can't say whether it truly surpasses the Buckhead Brewery in quality. I'd still recommend it, especially as a place to get cheap, good beer. (1,366 characters)
