This is my local pub, so I may be biased. That said, this is a solid British style pub.
First off, there's always a futbol match on the tv, so that earns points right away.
Food is good. Nothing amazing; mostly standard pub fare for decent prices. But you can't beat a banger on a bun for $5.
Service is good and Paul is a great publican. Always gives you a smile and willing to talk about anything, as long as he isn't busy.
Now the important part: the beer. One of two places that has a consistent cask selection. Usually something from Lagunitas or Moonlight, but sometimes there's something special. They have your standard pub beers, along with a rotating Belgian tap. Good choices, but the reason I fell in love with this place is because every Tuesday, they do a brewery showcase. They usually have two to three beers from the featured brewery, and sometimes a cask as well. And they have had a wide range of breweries for these showcases.
My only real complaint is that they have 10 tap handles that neve change. The have a handle for Lagunitas IPA and Bear Republic Racer 5. These are great beers, but I'd love to see them put other beers by those breweries on those handles.
This is a great place, and has a good family atmosphere too. And don't miss their annual Monty Python fest.

This is a good English pub. It has a small menu but generally quite good, tasty English pub food. Unlike other places, English food is the emphasis here, and there is little else.
As for beer, it has a very good selection, with frequent rotation. It always has at least one cask beer, often an interesting one, usually local like one from Moonlight, North Coast, etc. It has the usual Anglo-Irish beers always (Bass, Newcastle, Guinness Draught). It also has a range of good micro/craft beers, mostly local but some from elsewhere. In addition to the small range of standards that are pretty much always available, it has a large rotating selection of beers, including an occasional harder-to-find English beer and a variety of craft/micro beers from all over, especially from around the region (Moonlight, North Coast, etc.), and many of these are often hard to find elsewhere. There is almost always at least one cask ale available, changing weekly or so.
The place is pretty nice and the location is great, right on 5th St. in the Railroad Square part of downtown, within a couple blocks of hotels and other places to eat or shop.
