Appearance: Pale golden hue under a two finger white head that laced nicely.

Smell: Citrus, pale malt, floral hops

Taste: Like a sweet, mild pale ale. Exactly as it should be (though it's my first of the Cologne-inspired style).

Mouthfeel: Sweet up front, and a little tart once it's hit, and the hops provide an appropriate dry finish.

Drinkability: This was a tasty ale, and it worked pretty well as a quencher with some wings that I was having. I usually choose a lager for such food, but I'd never had this style. Great choice, paired with spicy food.

Served on-tap at Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills, NC

A: Pours a hazy pale to medium lemon yellow in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and some golden yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall off-white head that reduces to a medium patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of slightly sweet malts with slightly stronger aromas of herbal, grassy, and floral hops.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of slightly sweet malts (slightly bready/grainy) with a light to moderate flavor of herbal, grassy, and floral hops - though the herbal hops are most dominant. There is also a slight hint of lemon/citrus in the background.

M: Light to medium bodied with slightly more than moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Pretty easy to drink and enjoyable but if I'm at Outer Banks again I will not be choosing this one - the Lemongrass Wheat is just so much better than anything else I will not be able to resist it. There is almost a hint of a pilsner in this kolsch.

Draft offering at the source. The brew appears a straw yellow color, quite clear with streaming bubbles that maintain a white film across the top. Some patchy lace sticks to the glass.

The aroma is mostly composed of sulfur with a fresh grain inclusion. Some hints of cheese and a touch of noble hops. Overall not bad but I could do without the sulfur.

The taste is mild with a fresh grainy quality mixed with a touch of sulfur and noble hop bitterness that is mildly grassy with herbs and a bit of pine inclusion.

This is a light bodied brew that is fully carbonated. Crisp and easy drinking that makes for a solid beach beer for sure. A little reworking here could make this outstanding.
