One style of beer I havent had to much experience with, but if most are like this I will be on the lookout for more.Nice yellow color with good head retention.Smelled very fruity and slightly grainy.Nice soft malt flavor, with a nice refreshing ending. This brewery had some good handcrafted beers try it if your outhere.

Clean, crisp and quite drinkable, the signature brew at the OBX Brewing station does not dissapoint.

Pours crystal clear golden yellow, but the taste has a nice body to it that lets you know this is no adjunct lager. Creamy mouthfeel.

Very easy to drink, great summer beer.

This is a glass of Olsch served at OBBS in Kill Devil Hills, NC. The ale is cold.

A: The ale is a very pale yellow color with a good retention of head.

S: The ale has a faint biscuity nose with no hops.

T: The taste is faintly biscuity with very grainy finish. Light hops help impart a dry apple taste.

M: The mouthfeel is darn near nonexistent. Not a beer full of flavor.

D: For having 5.7% abv, there is not a lot going on here.

A - The one part of the beer that I felt was on-target. Bright, clear yellow with a small but fluffy head and ample lacing.

S - The smell has a little bit of biscuity malt underneath some hops that I can only characterize as funky, and to a lesser degree floral.

T - The taste is as light and delicate as you might expect, but too hop-forward in my opinion. A little tropical fruitiness is present right at the tip of the tongue. The flavors are too out-of-balance for me to call it a good Kolsch. More like a mild APA or maybe a blond.

M - Not crisp enough to match the flavor or style. Not quite creamy, but somewhere just shy of it.

O - A Kolsch is a beer that should be to style, and this one is too hoppy, too thick feeling, and just not quite right. It's not necessarily bad, but probably not one I'd get again.

From my limited notes when at the Outer Banks this past summer.

Pours a hazy golden color with a decent head, some lacing.

Smell is similar to the Lemongrass Wheat Ale that OBBS also puts out, but the lemon aroma is more subdued.

Taste has a moderate citrus taste contributed from the lemongrass and the hops, not overwhelmingly sweet like the Lemongrass Wheat though, a good alternative, very light with a crisp carbonation.

Poured a deep straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a vibrant noble hop and grainy malt.

The taste consisted of an upfront herbal noble hop followed by a clean, yet biscuity malt.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style.

Overall a tasty and quaffable ale.

Served on-tap at Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills, NC

A: Pours a hazy pale to medium lemon yellow in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and some golden yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall off-white head that reduces to a medium patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of slightly sweet malts with slightly stronger aromas of herbal, grassy, and floral hops.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of slightly sweet malts (slightly bready/grainy) with a light to moderate flavor of herbal, grassy, and floral hops - though the herbal hops are most dominant. There is also a slight hint of lemon/citrus in the background.

M: Light to medium bodied with slightly more than moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Pretty easy to drink and enjoyable but if I'm at Outer Banks again I will not be choosing this one - the Lemongrass Wheat is just so much better than anything else I will not be able to resist it. There is almost a hint of a pilsner in this kolsch.

Appearance: arrived in a pint glass looking yellow in color with a mild haze. Nice white 2" head.

Smell: the aroma was nice as lemon and malt were easily detectable.

Taste: the flavor sported a refreshingly crisp citrus, grass, and mild bitterness tones with decent malt backbone.

Mouthfeel: light / medium in body. Crisp start with a clean, crisp finish.

Drinkability: superbly drinkable. This was a great tasting and refreshing beer after a hot humid day in OBX.

A refreshing but very average beer. A bit more crisp and hoppy than a macro lager, definitely more flavor but this style don't do much for me. I had a 5 oz sampler at the brew pub. Basically a pale yellow beer with a small white head...very little aroma and a mild but smooth, crisp taste. Not one I would seek out, but not a bad beer either.
