Served on-tap at Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills, NC

A: Pours a opaque though clear jet black in color with minimal amounts of visible carbonation and some cola brown + dark amber highlights. The beer has a finger tall dense creamy dark tan foam head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of roasted malts, briny ocean/sea, and coffee along with some much lighter notes of anise.

T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of dark roasted malts along with some lighter briny ocean/sea flavors from the oysters. There are light notes of roasted coffee and anise/licorice that intensify a little when the beer warms up. Moderate amounts of bitterness which fade after a short while.

M: Medium to full bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth and creamy.

O: Really enjoyable and hides the alcohol well which makes this one easier to drink than you might expect. Nice briny flavors from the oysters come through but do not dominate or overwhelm, just enough complexity to the flavor to keep it interesting.
