Stopped by a couple of times to check out the local brew pub action on my vacation last week.
You would swear this place is a church, I drove by it three times the first night as it just blends right into the background, when they say "look for the windmill" ... turn RIGHT there...
Decor is typical/hacky brewpub, somewhat cold/wood accents with minimal lighting. I have seen a hundred brew pubs with the same look inside, I guess having flying arabian carpets in the dining room makes this slightly different. The bar itself is sleek and nice, it is also long and snakes from the dance floor/dining area all the way to the back door/smoking zone.
The bartenders were competent if not just going through the paces, they didn't seem enthused about the beers (maybe it was the time of year). They were prompt and friendly enough.
The beers were pretty lackluster, not bad per se but not one of the house beers was a stunner (I had the sampler - $7 plus others). The best of the home bunch was the kolsch, I found it to be a really nice example of the style. The ESB was so over the top hopped it was just over kill. I love hoppy beers but pairing high alpha with ESB... yeah, it's trendy but I would rather have good. The best beer on tap was the guest beer - Duck Rabbit Milk Stout... fashizzlle, it was fantastic. Pints ran $4.50 which is reasonable since most of the brews are 5%+ or higher.
Wed night is dance night... ugh.. I guess you have to do what you have to do to make $$$.
If you are staying in Kitty Hawk, Nags Head or Kill Devil Hills it is worth checking out, not worth a long road trip though.
