I checked this place out on a recent trip to Duck, NC and was pleasantly surprised at the beers. My wife and I went in to meet friends (who happened to leave us waiting for 2 hours) and between us we sampled all of the beers offered. From the Kolsch to the Stout all of the beers tasted brewed to style. The bitter was my favorite, followed closely by the Kolsch. I was a little sad when I walked in and saw that there was no IPA on tap, but when I got a chance to try the other styles, I was impressed.
Our first visit was on a Thursday night. They have live music after 9 or 10 during the summer, so I would suggest you go early so you may enjoy some peace and quiet for your tasting. We went back for lunch the next day and the lunch time crowd is much better for a casual tasting and coversation.
The food is very good. My wife will still tell you about her 'spent grain pizza', and she will be glad to tell you about the level of sweetness that the grain imparts to the crust. I enjoyed their burger greatly, and the next day I had a reuben that went very well with the Kolsch.
If you must visit a brewery in the outer banks, make it this one.

The most surprising was that for their stronger beers they gave you a smaller glass "because they pack a kick". Nice selection with a range of beers, the ones I tried were very good. Despite the small glasses with a normal price I like the place. Nice place overall.

Visited to refill our growler that we got several years ago - last time thru they weren't open on the days we were near Kill Devil Hills - now they are open 7 days. very quiet today, did the sampler and enjoyed everything except the "olsh". We were able to fill the growler with their special saison, but a quite a cost $28.00 vs. $16.00 for a normal refill. This place is just OK for me - always looks like it could be a little cleaner, but bartender was pleasant and helpful, beers were pretty good, food looks pretty standard. I'm sure we would stop by if we are nearby again, but it wouldn't be a first stop. We enjoyed a place called "Trios" which I will add if it isn't already on the site.
