Big hop IPA! Thought this was a 2X IPA after the first sip yet ABV is lower than most. Bold pine hops yet well balanced and smoother than initially expected. Overall a very good IPA. Picked up one of these in a "custom six pack". Would definitely like to try this one again.

Pours a murky, dark, Ruby Red. A thin white head. Smells a very fruity, almost fruit punch with presence of piney hops. A very balanced citrus hop IPA, in which the malt is a very good level. It does allow for hops to come through in the end. a little zing in the transition from malt to pine confuses me a lot. This makes it a not very good mouthfeel.

Lots to like here.
Dark copper color. Cloudy. Thick, creamy off white head. Retained head for quite a while. Lots of lacing.
Smells of hops, pine, grass. Good ole IPA stuff, you know.
Taste was similar to smell, BUT with a few surprises. It's a little fruity, and I didn't really smell that. It's also got a little spicy kick. Finishes smooth. I never picked up I'm the Zinfandel, though.
Feels like you would hope it would. It's rich, robust, full.
I thoroughly enjoyed this IPA. It's comparable to some good ones.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #87 (Apr 2014):
Distinct, Vinous, Hoppy
All of the bells and whistles are there for an IPA, slightly dank and pungent. Then something happens as a unique fruitiness hits middle to end. Its the addition of Zinfandel grapes that throws down a peppery and exotic fruit tone. Unique for the most part and enjoyable enough to go back for more.

Grassy hop nose, pours clear tea to amber, 1.5-2ā foam cap. On the tongue big grassy hops, big fruit, decent grass on the palate, flowery and herbal.. Medium body and carbonation.

On draft at Milwaukee burgers in Wausau poured into a shaker pint. Clear copper body with a finger of white head. Decent retention with some lacing. Aroma is typical of a citra hop IPA - grapefruit, pineapple, orange, other tropical fruits, caramel and bread malt. The zinfandel juice adds a small vinous note, but Iām not sure I would have know it was there without being told. Taste is good, early caramel sweetness followed by citrus peel bitterness. The zin shows up here with a tannic bitterness. Medium body, moderate carbonation, slick texture, dry finish.
