Picked up this up at liquor world in Fayetteville, AR...

Pours an effervescent mahogany with 3+ fingers of tan head. Very good lacing & head retention

S: Huge peanut butter nose, some iron

T: Some peanut butter, a bit of roastyness, ever so faint cocoa notes up front. Faint woody hops, more peanut butter, perhaps a bit of coffee, carob & dryness as this warms. Finishes peanut buttery, a little mocha & some iron

MF: Light/medium bodied, over-carbonated, weakest link in this beer. Gets thicker as it warms

This could've been truly great if the malt bill was stepped up, seems a little thin. Wanted more coffee. Fairly drinkable, I will this again in sixer format if I see it. Not a lot of beers of this flavor in this neck of the woods; really delivers on the peanut butter

If you enjoy the added artificial flavors that are added to this porter, then go ahead. I prefer natural flavors with a bit more subtlety. Four-pack is too expensive for this flavor-added product.

Appearance: black, ruby edges, dark beige foamy cap, stringy lace.

Aroma: peanut butter, cocoa powder, roast, faint coffee.

Taste: dry cocoa, peanut butter, bitterness, roasted malts.

Mouthfeel: quite dry, medium body, hint of creaminess.

Overall: there's some high points, definitely the aroma, and the flavors are all there, but it just comes off as artificial. It's a bit harsh with the bitterness, detracting from the sweetness a bit. Does the trick though, but it's not stellar. Worth a try.

Poured into a balloon glass.

Look: Black coffee body. Mocha colored head. Little lacing or head retention.

Aroma: Peanut butter cups, chocolate, peanut butter toast.

Taste: Really roasted and bitter, but very rich in peanut butter and chocolate. A bitter, roasted finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, dry.

Overall: The best beer from this brewery hands down.

I go 'way back with The Horny Goat, so when he shows up as a single at The Friendly Greek and especially in a limited status, I am quick to bring him home to Chez Woody.

From the bottle: "[Wisconsin] Brewed"; "Limited Edition"; "Carefully Crafted -Famously Fun."

I was kind of surprised by the crown cap, which needed to be prised off, vice a screw-top cap, which is what I usually get with The Goat. The pour created a pseudo-cascade and so I had to watch and wait as it settled into just better than a finger of dense, deep-tan head with good retention. Whomever the previous reviewer was who described the nose as being like "a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup" was spot-on! I might also add a Tastykake Peanut Butter Tandytake, which was my late Pops' favorite. Color was a deep, dense, dark-brown (SRM = 44), allowing ZERO light penetration. Mouthfeel was full and creamy and suddenly, I was put in mind of Mom-Za and her scoops of Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream from Pennsupreme when it was still extant. It really nailed the tastes in a spot-on way! In fact, that would be my only knock on this one - it was far too sweet for the likes of me. That brings us to its finish, which was slightly smoky, very chocolaty and with a lingering aftertaste of peanut butter. I hate to say it, but this was a one-and-done for me. If only I had my parents' sensibilities toward these flavors ...
