This beer pours a golden orange body with a small white head.

Nose is simple and malty, but has a nice mild citric hop smell.

Taste is medium bodied leaning on light with very smooth body. Taste has a very strong cracker and caramel malt taste to it. Hops are very present, but not overwhelming, with a more just bitter flavor than any strong defined citric hop. Very hoppy though, as far as a MOR IPA goes, but not a pallette killer by any means. Ends with a lingering malt and mild hop taste.

Decent beer, it's got some hops in it. Very much an old school mid 90's type "micro brew" IPA. Nothing over the top, just a hoppy drinkable ale. (642 characters)

The color was golden and it was very clear with a soapy and creamy, bright white head. It had a very light earthy hop aroma with a nice malty smell.

The body was ok, and the mouthfeel was slightly carbonation crisp. The carbonation was the only thing noticeable up front. The hoppiness seemed a bit earthy and piney, well worth the money I spent on this, but would not go out of my way to pick one up. (402 characters)

Has a nice amber color, at first I felt it had fairly weak flavor attributes all around, but ounce it warmed up a bit the flavors really started to pop. Very citrus- ey hop flavor. I would drink this again if it was around, but I wouldn't make a special trip to get it. (269 characters)

Poured into a MJ tasting glass.

Pours a clear orange/amber color with about a finger or two of white head that drops rather quickly.

Aromas of light citrus, orange, grapefruit, not much malt character. A little "musty"

Flavors of light bitterness, light malt, rather understated in all aspects. Faint citrus, grapefruit notes. Flinty. Finish is quite short, with nothing really standing out. A bit of a one dimensional beer.

Mouthfeel is thin, almost watery.

Drinkability is low. There is nothing much to distinguish this beer. Muted in every aspect, bitterness, maltiness, mouthfeel. Best part is the appearance. (618 characters)

Pours a clean orange-ish color with an off white head. In the aroma, hops, starting big to mild. In the taste, pine to mango like hops, and a nice malt presence. A hop smoothness and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a semi dry hop in the aftertaste. Nice hops, but mellow. Decent, but not fantastic. (296 characters)

Appearance: Good gradient of colors here. Ranges from dark orange to light golden yellow. Thick carbonation. Lacing and foam are only average.

Smell: Good peppery smell. Gives this pale ale a nice bite to it. Some spiced apple as well. Very mild and subtle.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Only a slight bit of hops that fizzles out pretty quickly, making this pretty watery. I do detect some nice notes of sour banana though.

Drinkability: A relative lack of excitement leaves more to desire. A good thirst quencher though.

Overall: A refreshing beer that comes across clean and more like a light lager. Kind of reminds me of Sam Adams Light with less punch in the flavor. (662 characters)

The body was light and watery, and the mouthfeel was slightly carbonation crisp. The carbonation was the only thing noticeable up front, followed by a bit of a bready maltiness. The hoppiness seemed a bit earthy and piney, but also kind of stale.

This would probably go with almost any food, as the flavors were fairly neutral - pizza, burgers, fries, etc. The hop flavor was no where near as big as the name would suggest, so the hop flavor wouldn't get in the way of any other flavors.

I'm not sure how long it was on the shelf before I got it, and I suspect it may have been there a while, as the hop flavor was not as big as the name suggested. It even tasted a little bit stale. While it was a bit watery, and easily drinkable, it's likely not one I would try again if given the chance. (943 characters)

I must admit that I'm pretty new to craft beers and as such, my tastes need to mature a little bit. Pale ales are still pretty strong to me.

That being said, this beer is pretty good. It has a good classic ale flavor I wouldn't mind trying again. (248 characters)

This being a local brewery there was a lot of hubbub about the quality of the beers. Unfounded, in my opinion. I always start with the IPA offering at any brewery because that's my penchant. This one was light in color with larger carbonate bubbles. The first taste was weak so I tried another after waiting a bit to see if it needed to settle. No luck. Weak malt and weak hop taste. No mouthfeel to speak of. Would not try again and I'm wondering who I can give the remaining bottles from the 6 pack to! (504 characters)

12 oz. bottle tried 9 Jul 2009. Courtesy of R&S, thanks!

Served in the 0.4 L Hutthurmer mug. Medium sized parchment colored head. Very lightly carbonated. Clear dark honey color. Aroma is sweet and syrupy, not getting a lot of hop aromas. A fast upfront bite of hoppiness that quickly fades, then becomes kind of caramel sour. Light watery body. Light alcohol.

Kind of blah overall. (384 characters)

Pretty underwhelming. Poured a bright copper with minimal head even on hard pour. Up front a bit tart, almost sour. No grain notes, but at the same time the hopping was reserved and bland. Finish was clean. I get the feeling the brewer relies more on the novelty of the name rather than the beer itself for sales. (313 characters)

Of course it compares poorly to IPA's - because it's not one. It's an APA, and it doesn't compare well to those, either. Very mild. For an ale labeled "hopped-up" it isn't very hoppy. Mediocracy rules! Discovered on a recent trip to St. Cloud, MN. Check out Cash Wise liquors while in town. (290 characters)

To even put this in a category with other IPA's should be a crime but here we go:

A- Dark golden color with a head about an 1/4 inch, that had no retention and created no lacing. Some carbonation occurring throughout.

S-Not much here a faint smell of hops

T- Had a very light hop taste that was almost kind of watery.

M- Pretty light in the mouth with little carbonation occurring.

D- If your new to IPA's then this might be a beer for you other wise steer clear of this one. IPA fans will be highly disappointed you spent money on this. (542 characters)

Wow - been a long hiatus. Have lots of notes to enter but figured I'd sit down and review a few live tonight. The name of this brew was pretty cool so I had to try it.

A: Looks quite clear for an APA - a little too clear for my tastes. Head doesn't stick around long but is white while it lasts

S: Some faint citrus in the nose along with some strong malt presence

T: Barely a hop presence in this one but the result is a brew that goes down very smooth and has a lot of malt and some sweetness that is a nice touch to the flavor. Citrus is there but should be stronger

M: A bit sticky as well as quite refreshing in the finish

D: Could drink this one all night. Easy to drink - no problem - can't say I'd have it again but I wouldn't pass it up either. (759 characters)

Reviewed cold from a bottle to a glass

A - Golden brown, 1 finger of foam, good lacing ring with a good amount of carbonation

S - Nice malt hop blend, caramel and citrus notes present

T - Hops are present up front followed with a malty backbone, lighter to medium bodied brew that is very smooth

M/D - First Horny goat brew, pretty tasty, well balanced, nice and hoppy upfront but not overly done. I recommend this brew (442 characters)

Hopped Up 'N Horny pours an amber color with a nice off-white head that laces a bit.

The smell is faint. There is a little bit of hoppy citrus there, and less malt.

The taste is pretty balanced, not what I would characterize as "hopped up." There are notes of hops and malt present; nothing remarkable, but nothing offensive.

Mouthfeel is a bit thin. It would go down easily on a hot day.

Drinkability is about average for this beer. Nothing wrong with it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find it either. (511 characters)

Light amber with a thin, white head that fades quickly, leaving some patches.
Smell is faint malts and hops. Slight hints of straw and spices.
Taste is watery malts, with some very faint hops. The following taste is rather bland, with neither the hops nor malts carrying on much. Very lackluster finish, which has about as much character as soda water.
Mouthfeel is very watery, with decent carbonation but not much else. Again, much akin to a carbonated water.
Drinkability is average, mainly because this beer is so lackluster that there is little to lure one to continue on. I scored it as average merely because it falls short of being unpleasant. (651 characters)

Pours amber with a thick off white head.

Nose is a really nice very cooked pineapple with a hint of underlying banana.

Mouthfeel and body is thin, medium bodied with light carbonation.

Flavors are nice bitter grapefruit. Nice bitter flavors although a bit simple.

Good bitter grapefruit finish. A "touch" better than average. (333 characters)

When poured into a basic Pint glass, a light head appears and will fill to the lip, It was my first venture with the brand and all in all.. this is what I thought.

Smell, very basic, Abrasive.. think :cheap tequila- Premium tequila.. etc for example. It is still an IPA.. but just nothing special, Kind of a downfall knowing it was not extremely cheap, so I had higher hopes.

Taste, Light, Very light and crisp- and to follow up with the above comment, nothing to special or amazing, It is an IPA, but definitely not one to jump in your face...

BUT- It would be a FINE -light- session beer if only the price was much much better, I could easily relax on an evening or hang with a few buddies and throw down a case of this Anyday, Very crisp clean taste- But for an IPA... It just doesnt cut the mustard for me* ha

Poured into a Perfect Pint glass. Formed a loosely packed, two finger, snow white head. Moderate dissipation speed, leaving behind small amounts of lace on the glass. The body is crystal clear and a golden-orange color with amber hues.

The nose is not very distinct. Hops up front with some fruit and honey undertones. You can also detect a grainy/malty backbone...if you try real hard...

The flavors match the nose...bland. The hops create a bitter, floral taste that mixes with a twinge of malt for an unpleasant overall palate.

Light mouth feel, astringent with moderate to heavy carbonation.

Nothing great about this beer, drinkable (I guess), but not one I will reach for again. (687 characters)

A: Copper in color but a light head gives it a 3.5 in rating.
S: Light in hops - this is hopped up??? Give some aroma please!
T: Light for being called - hopped up. Ok, bitterness but lacking in other notes.
M: Mild-mediumm. Has a little bitter after taste but, not pleasing.
D: Yes, it's drinkable but why, not a complex hoppy flavor with other notes. Have a few - who cares. Not memorable. (392 characters)

Appearance-wise the beer does well, with a nice, clear copper color and a small, fizzy cap, that admittedly does dissipate quickly, but hey, I can forgive small nuances like that, providing the beer tastes good.

Aroma is closer to a brown ale. Malt forward with a touch of breadiness, and just a hint of any hop character. Somewhat minerally, almost like blood....scary.

The flavor is quite harsh...I'm not sure if this brewed with particularly hard water, or what, but the only hop presence I can really detect is a harsh sort of astringency. Don't get me wrong the bitterness is quite tame, however due to the overall harshness of said bitterness, an almost "metallic" character, it renders the beer quite unpalatable. Aside from the harshness, there isn't really any hop flavors and the malt flavors certainly take front seat, primarily of a caramel variety with a slight husky graininess.

Egad. This is atrocious. I can honestly say I will never ever buy this beer again...nor will I willingly except any for free, and that's saying a lot since I'll even drink BMC if it's free. (1,085 characters)

12 oz. bottle poured into a standard pint glass.

A: Clear copper color. The pour produced about a finger of slightly off white head that receded and left very little lace.

A: I get a fair amount of hops, but the malt dominates. Kinda a sugary, sweet, caramel thing, almost like corn syrup.

T: It starts off pretty sweet from the over use of malt. There is a taste like this beer was drank right out of an aluminum can. Pretty metallic at times. It does finish crisp with a nice bitterness from the hops.

M: Light to medium body. I actually think this is the best part of the beer. Good amount of carbonation.

D and overall impression: Drinkability is quite average here. The metallic taste will limit it substantially. Overall, I think this brew had some things going for it, just can't get by the metal. I think the use of more quality ingredients would improve this beer dramatically. Might buy again next time I'm in Milwaukee to see if it has improved. Skal. (969 characters)

Pours a pale/light copper with a frothy white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is very grainy and slightly floral, not at all citrusy that the Cascades that are advertised would suggest. Flavor is much of the same, leaning more toward the malt and minimal hop flavor. Finishes a bit sweeter than the initial taste. Light to light/medium bodied. (347 characters)
