I poured a bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance- Dark cola brown with a fingers worth of tan head. Light amount of runny lace.
Smell- Faint aroma of roasted malt and chocolate.
Taste- Weak roasted malt and chocolate flavors. Doesn't taste bad, it just not as strong as you would expect.
Mouthfeel- On the thin side of medium bodied, but creamy like you would expect from a milk stout. An average amount of carbonation.
Overall- If you are looking for a good milk stout, this isn't it. This one has been castrated, the flavor is weak and the body is too light. There are definitely better milk stouts out there.

Pours a plain black color with a reasonably sized tan head.
Smell is weak--lactose, cardboard, not much else.
Taste is similar but even worse. This is borderline undrinkable.
Mouthfeel is better than the taste but still nothing to write home about.

It is St. Patrick's Day and I am drinking stouts of every stripe before heading off to an annual party. My local in-person trader, tone77, recently dropped off a huge box o' beer and this is another of that batch.
I saw no reason not pull out the stops and went with an almost-inverted pour. This always results in a huge head and this was no exception. Two-plus fingers of dense, rocky, light-tan head sat atop the beer and I awaited my chance to move in. Color was a deep-brown with garnet highlights and NE-quality clarity. Nose was chocolaty sweet as milk stouts are wont to be. Yes, Virginia, there was a smell to this one. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium and the taste was really thin for the style. It had a mild tartness to go along with the light sweetness of the malt. Finish was equally bland and uninspired. This was not outright bad so much as just disappointing, It lacked Ooomph, flavor, anything to redeem it. How sad!

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Remember that old Pam Anderson show? VIP? Me, neither. This stuff pours a clear ruby-garnet topped by a finger of glowing khaki foam. The nose comprises pretzel, dried maple syrup, and a touch of lightly-toasted biscuit. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a hint of old Oreos in the aftertaste. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slick feel. Overall, a pretty sad little stout, one that's far too thin and even more lacking in character.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cola color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of coffee, some chocolate. Taste is the same, a bit mild. Coffee up front, a bit of chocolate at the finish. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer.

Appearance: Stacked pours a black color and has some reddish hues to it like a porter normally would look, not a whole lot of light shines through but enough to see the red. It is topped with ½” of tan colored head.
Smell: This beer smells of roasted malts and coffee aromas, tasty smelling beer.
Taste: The taste is a bit disappointing the roasted and coffee flavors don’t pop like I would expect it to but it does have the creaminess that a milk stout should.
Mouthfeel: This is a quite a bit on the thin bodied side and while it is easy to drink the flavor doesn’t hang around long enough to enjoy it.

Pours a jet black color with no carbonation but a nice tan head.
Smell has a nice strong cocoa aroma. A bit of a nice milky sweetness as well.
Taste has a really nice burnt, roasted malt to it. A strong shot of milky chocolate sweetness balances the roasted malts nicely.
A medium body with a little bit of chewiness to it.
Drinkability is nice on this beer. A good balance of flavors makes this beer stand out, but go down easy. Definitely a good beer for a session to sit down and drink a six pack, or more...

Recently saw on Horny Goat's Facebook page that they had refined their recipe for this Milk Stout. Figured we were in the change of seasons so I would give it a try.
Appearance: Pours a dark brown. Not as dark as some other stouts but still quite a dark beer. Great (over 1 inch) head that leaves a strong lacing.
Smell: Sweet smells of the coffee and chocolate dominate.
Taste: Light flavor consisting of mild roast malts, coffee notes, and chocolate. All creating a nice balance that is sweet and a little bitter bite to finish.
Mouthfeel: A lighter mouthfeel to this stout.
Overall: A good brew that is worth a try. This makes a great beer for people who are hesitant to transfer to the craft beers.
