(512) India Pale Ale is a big, aggressively dry-hopped American IPA with smooth bitterness (~65 IBU) balanced by medium maltiness. Organic 2-row malted barley, loads of hops, and great Austin water create an ale with apricot and vanilla aromatics that lure you in for more.

Poured from a can. Caramel in color with a fluffy white head and lacing. Smell of pine, grass, and slight floral hints. Flavor is hop forward with pine resin and grass really hitting the tongue. In the background there are hints of fruit and floral. Feels and tastes heavier than the 7.2 avb. Solid ipa

Drank from the can while in Austin. A competent ipa from the selection available. May not seek it out but would surely drink again if available. The beer scene has definitely evolved in the last several years.

Poured from a bottle into glass. Mounds a bit more cloudy than I expected. The smell is pretty average for an ipa, but the taste is stellar! Great malt, hops, citrus. I’d buy more because it has the most important thing going for it… taste

I was traveling and found this at Haymaker in the Austin airport. On a short list, it appeared to be the best option.
By all appearances, I was surprised by the IPA classification. The color is more amber than most IPAs, and the flavor lacks the "juicy"-ness I've grown accustomed to in that category. If I didn't know better, I'd guess this was a more flavorful amber ale with a thick, frothy head that doesn't quit.
Unremarkable. Met the need/desire for a beer, but missed the mark for an IPA.

slightly hazed amber body pours with a burnt cream foam head that has high retention and leaves tons of sticky lacing as it settles to a thin murky cap
aroma is floral array of apricot, peach, vanilla, chewy caramel malt, and resinous pine
taste follows the nose, delivering a bouquet of sticky and floral bright stone fruit, rich caramel malt, and deep earthy resinous pine. barley funk and grapefruit join the mix as well.
moderate carbonation and medium body brew carries through smooth and chewy with occasional carbo prickle, before finishing slightly dry and crisp, and earthy pine hop bitter. dry hopping evident for sure in the aftertaste as well.
overall:
ATX's OG IPA. Takes a nod to the West Coast Masters for sure, but is definitely it's own thing, bringing in rich apricot and vanilla over the more traditional grapefruit/pine one-two combo. beautifully done.

12oz bottled 7-17-20, opened 7-31-20.
3 finger off -white head of dense and rocky foam. Excellent retention with thick, sticky lacing left behind early.
Brilliant and glowing golden-amber. Very good clarity.
Thick rings of lace cover the back wall of the glass.
Hoppy nose - apricot, floral, pine, orange.
Big stone fruit flavor, apricot early turns into marmalade later. All the while floral and piney hop flavors are intertwined. Melon late. Hefty malt base carries it all along, no problem...light breadiness and a hint of caramel.
Soft mouthfeel, long lasting head provides a creamy texture on entry. Medium body and carbonation. Clean and lengthy bitter finish.
Outstanding.
