Nearly black in color, (512) Pecan Porter is made with Organic US 2-row and Crystal malts along with Baird’s Chocolate and Black malts. Its full body and malty sweetness are balanced with subtle pecan aroma and flavor from locally grown pecans. Yet another true Austin original!

12oz bottle served in a tulip. Packed 01/06/23. Got it in a trade with @MrSandman101.

Pours black or very dark brown, big head, maybe two fingers tall. Head collapses but leaves a thick, dark tan, half-centimeter cap. Smell is toasty, nutty, sweet, roast. Maybe raisins.

Taste is nicely on the roasty / chocolate side. A little smoke gets up the back of the nose. Dark, sweet bread.

Mouthfeel is rich and smooth. Overall, nice porter.

Appearance: Dark brown with thick, khaki mousse-like head, great retention

Aroma: Pecans. Lots of pecans.

Flavor: Robust malt flavors with roasted malt, cocoa, and pecan flavors. Balancing baker's chocolate like bitterness.

Mouth feel: Full bodied, drying.

Overall: Very robust beer. Big and bold with roasted malt and pecan flavors. Well crafted specialty type brew.

I know nothing about beer (want to learn!) but this was great. I only turned 21 recently so take this with a grain of salt, but this is the richest tasting beer I’ve had. The pecan flavor really comes through but it’s not overwhelming. I love the smell, it has little hints of mocha and espresso. Very delicious!

A bit too much head production, although it's not quite a gusher. Solid retention.

Nose is a touch metallic and prune-forward. Additional notes of light to moderate char, cola, and coffee.

Flavor is solid, mostly matching the nose but a bit smoother. Pecans are noticeable primarily in the middle of the sip, but the robust char comes back for the back third and really leads the way. Additional notes of dark chocolate, toffee, and grainy caramel. Drinks a bit thin for a porter, but not inappropriately so given the modest ABV.

3/23/2023, On tap at The Flying Saucer, Garland, TX, deck seating right on the water of Lake Ray Hubbard. First stop on our trip!

Beautiful opaque rich brown, little to no head.

Aroma is off the charts. Rich cocoa and roasted, nutty coffee.

Light in the mouth, yet lingering flavor. Very smokey and stoney. Sweet pecan comes through. Slightly bitter on the finish. Very drinkable.

Pours an opaque, dark brown, almost black in color with minimal head and lacing. Carbonation looks average.

Aroma is burnt malts with hints of coffee, cacao and nuts with some hop bitterness lingering in the background. Not a very pungent aroma, but enticing.

Taste follows the aroma quite well. Lots of burnt, roasted malts, chocolate and coffee with a lovely hop bitterness to balance it out. Hard to discern specific notes about the hops, a bit earthy and maybe a bit lemony. Definitely a background flavor, but really enhances the sweet, smoky nature of the malts. Not getting much in the way of pecan, perhaps a bit more as it warms. Does not quite coat the tongue on the finish, although the roasted, chocolately malt flavor lingers for a bit. Alcohol is barely discernable until it warms a bit. And even then, only towards the end of the glass. Overall, perhaps a bit sweet for my tastes.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth with subtle carbonation. Finishes fairly dry. Maybe a touch thin for the style. Quite drinkable.

A very solid porter, if a bit one dimensional. If it weren't labeled as "pecan" I'm not sure I would have picked up on it at all, it's pretty subtle. That said, it was quite easy to drink and very much hit the spot this winter. Another solid offering from 512, cheers!

Poured mainly black, with a dark tan head. Not much aroma, basically roasted malts. Taste is of the roasted malts and bitter chocolate notes. Mouthfeel was good, with a medium body and carbonation. I didn’t get any pecan notes, but overall a very nice, enjoyable porter.

Poured into a softer. Look is typical porter with low froth on top. Good smell of pecans on the nose with typical wafts of porter in the air. Tasty! Good notes of pecan in the mouth and not chewy. The taste though is fleeting - does not linger. Feel is smooth not chewy but leave the lips sticky. Good quality beer!
