Availability: Winter

Notes/Commercial Description:
(512) Double Pecan Porter is a robust porter accented by locally grown roasted pecans and subtly enhanced by aging in recently emptied oak whiskey barrels. For the first ever bottling, only one 200L barrel was bottled. Notes of chocolate, coffee and pecan marry with the subtle flavors of vanilla and whiskey to make this a wonderful winter warmer worth sharing and savoring. We sincerely hope you enjoy every sip.

2012 vintage black wax version. Poured in to a snifter from jester king.

THe pour produces quite a bit of carbonation. a tad too much. this was chilled for 72 hours pre pour.

This looks every bit like a big stout. the thickness, the blackness, the unholyness. please stop all the madness

The smell is of dark fruit, licorce, roast, and some whiskey barrel notes.

THe mouthfeel is divine. the bottle fermentation adds those very fine bubbles that add to the creaminess. Has that silky smooth coating feel as you sip it with a tinge of heat from the alcohol

Taste is chocolate, roasted, dark fruit, boozy goodness. Its not over the top boozy but enough you know this is the bigger badder version of the pecan porter.

Overall impression. I believe fresh this is the best release so far. I am saving several of these for guily pleasures.

Served in a tulip glass at The Bottle Shop in Dallas Texas.

A - Pours very dark with a nice brown head. Low height that dissipated rather quickly.

S - The first notes are whiskey (was told this was a bourbon barrel) with hints of roasted malt. Light pecan smells linger.

T - Starts with a nice roasted malt taste with nutty pecan very evident. The high alcohol is not noticed, but the pecan stays on the palate, along with the well balanced porter flavors. Ends with a slightly sweet whiskey finish.

M - Smooth for the high alcohol.

O - Very drinkable porter. I am a (512) Pecan Porter fan, this one adds complex whiskey notes and sweetness with a little more alcohol.
