A Standard American Lager. It was brewed in the style of one of my personal favorite ‘yellow’ beers which just so happened to win a blue ribbon in 1893. ‘the Rookie’ is an unfiltered lager with a VERY LOW hop/malt presence (8.5 IBUs) and VERY light body. Brewed with domestic 6-row barley and domestic corn, it has subtle residual sweetness due to the lack of filtration. Don’t eat yellow snow, don’t drink yellow beer! Except for this one…

Poured on-tap and served in a tumbler pint, the beer is a slightly hazed, pale, goldenrod coloring with a filmy, white head that coats the surface and clings to the glass like crazy. Clean nose, with a hint of grain and butter. Flavors are very buttery, with a grainy backbone that gets overpowered. Not good. The aftertaste is also buttery, with a touch of hops bringing a merciful close to this palate torture. The flavor is very watery. Not good.
