When I first started going to this place I thought I was in heaven great selection of beer and All pints $3 during happy hour. Now you will see in the other reviews MOST pints are $3 unfortunately the beers that are the best in my opinion(Founder's,Stone, Smuttynose, etc.) happy hour prices don't apply. This place still offers the best selection in myrtle beach, so I'll still be a patron but w/ the price changes it just won't be as often. On another note the service at the MM has always been great IMHO, and the selection of pizza's is great w/ some interesting ingredients(artichoke hearts, filet mignon, etc.)so you won't get bored.I hope this review helps any visitors coming to MB, and if you're a local get down and give them a try.

This is easily, the place to go in Myrtle Beach if you are looking for a great selection, and with happy hour prices leaving most drafts at $3, you'll be hard pressed to find a better place in the area. Staff is always friendly, and knowledgeable about their beer. Food is good, a little on the pricey side, but tasty nonetheless. The real calling card however, is most certainly the beer. With over 40 drafts and tons more in bottle, including many hard-to-find selections, this place is a beer-lover's paradise

Stopped in for dinner and few beers on a visit two days ago, and it's a really pleasant place worth a visit. The draft selection is quite big (40 or so, since they were out of a few things at the time of my visit), but nothing terribly rare on, but it was nice to try a local brew and a couple that I can't get in my area of residence.
The bottle list was pretty large as well, and again, nothing terribly rare or too hard to find but quite a few quality brews.
The food was good as well, and everyone at dinner enjoyed their respectable meals. I had one of the pizzas, and it was very enjoyable.
The prices were a little much for the area, but didn't phase me too much since I would end up paying quite a bit more for some of the brews I had if I were in NJ/NY. The service was a bit shaky as we ended up having two different servers during the course of our visit (shift change?).
Anyway, a worthy stop if in the area.

Pies were a bit pricey, but daily happy hour with most drafts flowing at 3 bucks, this place could be a god send. It appears that Mellow Mushroom is the stoners take on what Pizza Hut should have been. Quality pies with craft brews, damn I would love to bring this southern chain to the north. Feel was very laid back and the multicolored room could induce a mild contact acid trip if your not careful. Regardless of bright tye dye color schemes the setup is great comfortable booths blended with tables and chairs surround the dining area while high tops adorn the bar area. L shaped bar with 25-30 taps a flowing. Bottles tucked away in the corner, they had about 50-60 bottles to pick from. I had the Capri salad with balsamic, and artichoke dip for appetizers, and those were killer. Basic pie for the kiddies and a build your own for mom and I plus who ever else was daring. Sat in the round table built up like a VW bus. College girl workin the summer job needs to brush up on the beer and her etiquette. I forgot to check what you wanted when they didn't have the beer you ordered. 15-25 min wait on the next round even after I had to catch her on the where's my Dale's Pale I just ordered? Bar side was money ordered a couple drafts and spoke to a couple knowledgable staff. Myrtle in general had this service, so it may be acceptable since it's not your real job. Plus tourists can be a pain in the ass. Taps were solid, Avery, Smuttynose, Victory, Stone, with more locals from New South, Thomas Creek, Highland, and Foothills to name a few off the top of my head. Overall I really dug my little aftenoon with the family for some good eats at a pizza beer bar.

Located across the street from Broadway at the Beach complex near TBonz. Plenty of parking here to satisfy the large crowds that frequent the place.
There is a separate bar area to the right and a dining area to the left. Both areas give a view into the kitchen area to watch the pizza dough being tossed. There are about 10 stools at the bar and several hightops and booths. Several TVs tuned into sports channels provided visual entertainment. There is an outside dining area too. We opted for the bar area since there were so many kids in the dining area and we wanted a quieter setting. After 6:30 expect a wait for a table.
There are some 35+ beers on tap here, including Stone's IPA, Arrogant Bastard, and Smoked Porter, Victory Hop Devil, Thomas Creek Red Ale, and Dales Pale Ale. Too many nice offerings to list. Some of the local NC and SC beers they had listed on the menu were out. There is a healty bottle list too.
The waiter / waitresses we had were beer knowledgable but not overly so. Service was quick and friendly despite the large crowds. The pizzas and calzones were good.
This is the place in town to get a big selection of quality beers on tap. A must stop if visiting Myrtle Beach.

I am basing the quality and selection on the area, but this is THE place to go for a pint in Myrtle Beach. There is no other place that serves anywhere near as many crafts. Anywhere that I can go to get a pint of bigfoot for 3 bucks is heaven to me. The barstaff is pretty good, they know what they've got and the basic idea of what it is. They are even starting to do beer dinners, the head brewer from Victory is going to be there Thursday night for a beer and food pairing. I cannot stress enough that this is the only beer bar in myrtle beach.

Since recently moving to myrtle beach I have been on a quest to find a bar/restaurant with the best selection of micro-type brews. Well my search has ended and I am not even going to look elsewhere. Mellow Mushroom has it all. I think I counted 41 total beers on tap and then a bunch of bottled stuff in the fridge. So they have quite a selection. They have $3 pints from 4-7pm, so you can get some of these brews as a nice deal.
They also have a beer club that has special events and tastings and you get prizes as you taste each beer. I think you get something every 25 beers or so (free pitcher, free pizza, hat, ending with a 20 oz mug and name on a plaque for reaching 100). Of course you have to sample every beer, not just 100 of your favorite.
Here is a quick sample of what they had on tap: Abita, Allagash, Stone Arrogant Bastard, Brooklyn lager, Dales, Flying Dog, Hazed and Infused, Highland, Kona, Lagunitas, Lion Stout, Magic Hat, New South, Rouge Dead Guy, Terrapin, Victory and Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. Just to name a few
The food is really good and selection is pretty good. The pizzas are excellent, but they can be a little pricey.

I have always been a huge fan of Mellow Mushroom. I was excited when I found out they were opening one here in Myrtle Beach. I went to visit the end of the first week they were open and wasn't impressed.
Now that they are established, I have changed my tune. I went there last night and had a Hazed and Infused, Terrapin India Brown, and a New Holland Mad Hatter all on draft. I was finally impressed. The service was great and we had a big party of people to take care of. We were all givem the proper care, which is usually not normal here in Myrtle Beach. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and took the time to talk about there selection. I know that when I would like a good brew and pizza from now on, Mellow Mushroom will be the place for me.

I visited this location the second day it was open which was a Tuesday night. I was there around 5pm. It was pretty crowded with the typical tourist crowd and some local business types as well. There was a wait for tables so I sat at the bar.
I was greeted quickly enough but basically ignored after that. I spent 10 minutes waiting for a second beer and after waiting nearly 15 minutes for a third, I left without purchasing the third. My tab for two beers and 1.5 hours was about $9. Best draft selection within 100 miles or so.
I had the Terrapin Indian Brown which was delicious and also had the local New South IPA which was decent. I may stop by after the intial hoopla dies down or in the off season but not this summer.
It seems, as a chain restaurant, they would be able to hire enough servers and work out the kinks when the store opens. This location was far from successful in that respect. Hopefully things will improve with time but based on other MM experiences, I doubt it will get much better. However, the food is what keeps me coming back.

Pretty much like any other Mellow Mushroom you'll go to. Nice inside area as well as an outdoor spot where I chose to eat. They plan on having taps outside as well in the near future. *Warning* Christian music played from 12-3 on Sundays, so if you don't dig that stuff, don't go. I heard the owner saying that it's his choice to play what he wants for three hours one day a week after somebody complained. Pretty comical stuff. A solid selection for the area with all the stuff you'd suspect pretty much. They had Terrapin India Brown and Stoudt's Pale when I stopped in, two nice treats. Good price for the four beer sampler ($5) and of course the food isn't terribly priced either. I'll probably stop back in soon, though not on a Sunday for lunch.
