Awkward shaped bottle went bang upon opening..
Two-finger milk chocolate colored soapy head. Brew is relatively thin and no lacing..
Liquid bourbon comes to mind. Vanilla, milk chocolate, oaky.
Whoa. Unique. Medium-thin viscosity, carbonation is light-medium, tons of bourbon vanilla, flavor is spot on, no heat and I can tell is this one strong brew...
Recommended, but @ $24??? ehh.. Maybe. Thanks Chris for the push across the finish line.

22oz bottle, batch #3.
Pours oily black and opaque with a thin tan head. Minimal lacing or retention. Pungent bourbon aroma rides atop char, bakers chocolate, Kahlua, and vanilla. Full bodied with a slick, chewy mouthfeel. Boozy bourbon with rich dark chocolate on the palate with blackened roast and oakey vanilla. Finishes long with plenty of boozy bourbon and lingering fudge.
Big, tasty, boozy stout.

From a 650 ml bottle (batch 3) to a snifter.
A-A normal pour produces very little in the way of brown head. The foam is thin and fades immediately leaving a sheen on top of the inky black beer. It looks quite still in the glass.
S-The aroma is surprisingly mellow. I sniff some molasses, caramel, raisin, and milk chocolate, but the intensity is not quite there for a beer this big.
T-The taste is also on the mellow side. The beer opens with suggestions of dark, dried fruit like raisins and prunes, as well as some toasted coconut (like the bottle proclaims). The mid-palate reveals some alcohol and the finish is reminiscent of chocolate syrup. The finish is pretty long. The barrel is there the whole time, but it is not very cohesive.
M-The beer is a little flat and watery for my taste. A bit sticky too, which I suppose is normal.
O-I know this beer won gold at the GABF, but I had a hard time with this one. It isn't a bad beer and there is a good amount of complexity, but the flavors don't really gel with each other. Plus the mouthfeel of this bottle was off a bit.

Black as the darkest night, good pour.
Smells rich and delicate, not too hot but tons of chocolate, definitely a great nose.
Tastes really nice, tons of great barrel rye characteristics, this is fantastic!
Soy sauce up in my tongue, very good though, super smooth and complex as a mother!
Overall I'm very impressed with this... I swear this would hold its own against some of the big boys out there in the BB RIS league, game on!
